Thanks for the update. Sounds like quality changes have been added. That said I'm not a huge fan of descriptions like "has a chance to instantly remove". It's just so vague. There's an enormous difference in value if it's a 5%, 25%, 75%... chance. Put in the description the real of it.

    Dodge should cost stam

With the upcoming changes to survival tray combined with CC not being very good in the current build,I believe there is a very simple solution, make dodge cost stam. the removal of survival tray means choosing between dodge and block for some classes. Dodge and retaliate both cost stam, dodge does not. So someone who chooses block is double dipping into their stam pool while someone who chooses dodge is not. The latter allows dodge toons to retaliate far more often with little to no concern if they over use it. Which is why the current state of CC is almost useless. Moving dodge to stam based makes CC vastly more effective and also puts both block/dodge toons on the same footing of making that choice between retaliate or not. To me this is the simplest solution to the CC issue and makes the loss of survival tray less impactful to the blocking classes. It does mean however some powers need a change. - Knight shield bash would have to remove stam not dodge pips. - High Elf dodge passive would essentially be the same. Just an instant stam refund. - Escape artist would need stam regen instead of decrease pip regen. - Nethari and wood elf dodges would probably need to cost more stam than the regular dodges.

Can we get the cooldowns on the tool tip for these racial procs? For example the stoneborn bleed removal. Does this have a chance to proc any time regardless of the last proc or can it only proc once every “x” seconds?

    February?

We were told February And it’s clear to most that’s unlikely to happen but this idea that you can tell us nothing isn’t going to work forever. It’s been a bad few months for CF fans and any question seems to be shut down, hard. If you’re launching another CW then that prob means no patch this month. Everybody understands if you’re running behind or late but this keep us in the dark and feed us hogwash is how you alienate your community (even your biggest fans expect so little of you at this point). Please stop snarling and gnashing your teeth when we criticize the lack of community this community has. Community is about communication, something we have we don’t have. Crowfall doesn’t have to be laughed at like NW, AoC or CU but you seem determined to be disliked by your players.

While waiting for 5.110 I've decided to add the The Integrated Combat Log Parser v.2.0 to the GMS. I would prefer an EK (upvote/downvote) system filter, with a decay rate. Maybe one for each category of item type. (Weapon/Armor/Potions, etc). That way the most popular, and better maintained/laid out EK's will naturally climb to the top, and eventually fall if allowed to become inactive or poorly maintained. I don't really want to see a specific item search. Also The goal is to get players into the PvP action as quickly as possible with "minimum viable" gear. Eventually your going to hit a ceiling on what you can get from the drops that is below what players are crafting, but even from zero you can be viable enough to participate in PvP in under an hour to join the fray.

Item drops at PVE - Make Auctioneer

I think item drops are meant to be 'usable' while not being the best or perfected to a characters style/skill. But if you don't have cash or items, you can go kill some npc and get good enough gear for a fighting chance.

Item drops at PVE - Make Auctioneer

Having to check vendors is about removing the speculation players ease of quick flips. Crowfall has said that there will be no auction house or common market, the players have to create the demand and prestige of their various shops. Ideally we get back to viable markets in our Eternal Kingdoms rather than in the permanent Gods Reach campaign... yes, you toss a vessel into gods reach just to play with that market but most guilds will have open markets to create a revenue stream. We have not yet seen the return to viability of any EK functions, the in campaign vendors killed it.

The chat channels currently used in Crowfall are powered by Vivox, a major chat and voice communications provider in the industry. If Artcraft elects not to use in-game voice, it's probably a design/user experience/business decision, rather than a technical one. In the Elder Scrolls Online, for example, Vivox powers the chat system for all platforms, but has only implemented in-game voice for the console versions.

ACE, your marketing strategy appears self-contradictory to us. On one hand, you say you're marketing this to the non-tester masses. You release garbage news tidbits and withhold anything useful about the coming 5.110 build on the theory that you'll get more attention with an information overload when the patch hits. On the other hand, you persist with cultivating your pet streamers and you continue to push "war stories" when there's no war going on because 99.95% of your paid tester base isn't playing. You could release racial skills one race every few days if you wanted a little tease to build hype. "Aracroix knight" is a waste of your time and ours. Your absolute best marketing was when you were releasing "patch notes from the future" - your player base was engaged, and the mmo game sites whose attention you covet were writing articles about the coming changes. You have so much you could write dev diaries about: Caravan mechanics Refineries New racial attributes Discipline Changes Thralls Crafting Changes Harvesting Changes Guild interaction (subguilds, alliances) Stronghold buildings How strongholds will work in dregs (who can build where, will some sites be restricted to fort level or will all ruins be buildable to full castle / cities) How sieges will work in dregs (cost of sieging, schedules of sieging, how to initiate a siege) God-specific outposts Power changes to each class and promotion (that could get you 20 dev diaries alone) New passive skill trees and progression rates Frostweaver (again you could get 4 articles out of that, one for the base class, one for each promotion) The list goes on and on. You will get a better response from the gaming sites by releasing a long string of meaningful information drops leading up to 5.110. The gaming sites want views - they'll publish every release. They'd prefer 1000 eyes on each of 50 releases than 2500 eyes on a single news dump article. And the unwashed masses who aren't backing Crowfall are perhaps not as stupid as you think they are - they'll appreciate more actual content in their news, too.

This made me laugh really hard - First the News and after this thread - Thank you ❤️ I can feel the frustration in the active community, but these kind of responses will generate equal amounts of frustration to ACE as well and the result is just an increasing gap between the two - that will help nobody in the end. IMO Problem is not with ACE - Problem is with the active community. Let me try to explain my pov. ACE is not making/marketing this game to the 500-1000 people bothering to keep a close eye on this game. If they would do that then I would wholeheartedly agree with every post in this thread. ACE is releasing an information flow for the masses - and the fact that there are Wartribes in the game is old news for very few people. If you are part of the active community then you obliviously care about Crowfall. Then for a moment put your self in ACE's shoes and try to understand their perspective. I get equally frustrated by the 'funny' marketing news and even more frustrated that I need to pacify my own guild, but every time I do the above exercise then I see the value in the current approach. Patience is a virtue! Yours,

PLEX is literally a pay to win system, designed to be a pay to win system, in a very lossy economy. The current iteration utilizes a free to play model that is best described as a feature limited trial. PLEX is the definition of pay to win, and the EVE community embraced this a long time ago before the free to play option existed. Either you PLEX yourself and your alts, or you're a serf to people who control infrastructure, intelligence, and transportation vital to the economic and military metagame. EVE never has and still does not have any sort of equity between people who pay for subs and those that do not because that was never the goal of the PLEX system. The goal of the PLEX system was to sell more subs, and the goal of the current free to play model is still to sell more subs. "You can earn it ingame because you can buy cash shop items from other players" is not a system of equity and fairness. It is deliberately designed to create a system of lords and serfs by directly encouraging lords to overspend for a larger advantage than would have been possible in a system where that expenditure could not be traded directly for labor. Its the difference between having two accounts which I need to use, and having unlimited labor at my fingertips for the cost of as much money as I'm willing to dump in to the game. It's not just "pay to win", but is quite literally "subsidize all ingame labor with real world money" which is far, far more disruptive to the design of an MMO economy and is purpose designed to create and enable uncle bob while the development team cashes fat checks. This system has created an economy in EVE where nearly any serious business venture in the sandbox begins with "trade some PLEX" and where the foundational unit of currency that controls the value interchange of all goods and services is PLEX. Just because you can steal it from idiots, or become someone else's wage slave to earn your subscription doesn't make it a good system. It is a deliberately unequal system deliberately designed to add stakes and tension to the economy, not a system designed to make the game accessible and fair to varying real world cash investments. "Trading money for time" is the biggest propaganda line that this industry has spewed in the last 20 years. You're not trading money for time. You're deliberately creating an ingame economy in which player's time is worthless to your game, and only their money is valuable. Where two hours of real life cash is more important to your game design than 40 hours of ingame play. You're creating a system to deliberately enable the exploitation of people with less real money by people with more real money. Call me crazy, but I think when people sit down to play an MMO the value of their gameplay should be equal to their time, effort, and skill spent playing the video game. I think if you've designed a game in which throwing extra money is preferable to playing the game, you're a poorly made socksty game designer. You might be a great businessperson but you've deliberately designed a game to be a thing people will pay someone else actual money to play for them.

    Vanguards 5.100 Class Tier Lists!

So we thought it might be a fun idea to make a tier list for the 4 main roles you come across when playing in a group. This is both to give new players an idea of the viable promotions, and to share our view on how the different classes stand. *DISCLAIMER - remember this is very subjective and based on our opinions and experiences from numerous fights throughout this patch. How do we determine their ranks? You can see our spreadsheet here: SPREADSHEET LINK Each role has some different variables, and then to prevent the options from becoming too big - we chose to focus on what wins you campaigns currently, meaning how the different classes perform in their designated role, when fighting over objectives. This means forts and keeps(sieges). This also means that niche roles or spec groups are not included in the determination of their ranks. But to try and give a fair rating, since some classes shine when defending and are worse when attacking and vice versa, we put both those variables in. Siege Offensive: Rating on how well that class performs on an offensive siege. Variables: Enemy guards, Enemy Ballista fire, Defenders, Size of the area (both long and short range). Siege Defensive: Rating on how well that class performs on a defensive siege. Variables: Enemy Siege weapons, Attackers, Bottlenecks, Size of the area (both long and short range). Fort Offensive: Rating on how well that class performs on an offensive fort fight. Variables: Enemy guards, Defenders, Size of the area (mainly close range). Fort Defensive: Rating on how well that class performs on a defensive fort fight. Variables: Attackers, Size of the area (mainly close range). Alright, let's get to it! (remember click to zoooooooooooom) FRONTLINE Main goal is to soak damage and lockdown enemies. Variables: Prevent enemies from getting to your group, creating space and pressure, how easy they are killed. *click to zoom MELEE DPS Main goal is to kill enemies as a melee dps. Variables: Damage output, ability to stay on target, how easy they get killed. *click to zoom RANGED DPS Main goal is to kill enemies from range. Variables: Damage output, ability to stay on target, how easy they get killed. *click to zoom SUPPORT Main goal is to heal and buff your team. Variables: Healing output, buffs, ability to land heals reliably, how easy they get killed. *click to zoom Hope you enjoy our Tier List, and let us know if you agree or not 😄 ________________________________________________ Do you want to join Vanguard? For me this has the potencial to ruin the game for the crafters, its annoying because the experimentation points and the crafting skill comes from the passive training. I've been playing Crowfall on and off since the beginning of this year, and what I realized is: Choosing just two skill lines to level is nice, gives you the feeling that decisions matter 1. Exceeding the skill limit is not handled properly I think, whats the point of locking the earned points in a maxed out skill? Let me explain how this happened so you guys can see how this can be a problem. Like I said I've been playing this game on and off for a while, I've choose to level up rune making, so I selected it and played for some time, got the skill up to 80-90% or something, and then only resumed playing after another two weeks or more, when I came back I was able to max out the skill, but with more than 100k points to spare. So I agree with the decision to restrict the max points unspent, so people will have to be more active and take of their points, but letting it got to waste should not happen. To fix this I suggest putting the exceeding in a skill line counter that will also have a max amount, if its reached it will stop earning, but at least with this the wasting problem is gone. 2. Just the passive training is definitely not enough , specially for crafters, since the experimentation points and the assembly success comes out of it, it will make you want to just keep loging in and spending points until is actually nice to craft something. Like I said before, I first maxed out rune making, now I wanted to focus on blacksmith, I choose the path and played, then I realized that with the amount of experimentation points and assembly success I had I could only make vendor like gear or a little bit better. Now I got to that point that there was nothing I could do in this weekend play session that could make that go quicker so I could enjoy the craft, so I decided to wait a week or two to come back and keep my craft going. Can you see my point? Please take notice that for the blacksmith skill line to be maxed out (without the thrall line) it takes around 1.4 million points, that sums to 50 days. My suggestion to fix this is to award extra points, aside from the passive ones, for performing activity of the selected skill. Example: With blacksmith selected for training, let’s assume the process of crafting a Weapon Hilt (Weapon Grip + Pommel + Weapon Crossguard). For the Weapon grip I would have to craft plank or stitched leather, since it's not my active skill I will not get points for craft any of those, but I will get 6 points for crafting the grip itself For the Pommel I would have to craft a metal bar, so 3 points, plus 6 for the pommel itself For the Weapon Crossguard the same as the Pommel 9 points total For making the weapon hilt I would get another 18 points So the process of crafting a Weapon hilt would give me 6+9+9+18 = 42 points. Considering that we get 18 points per minute I would get more than 2 minutes of passive training reduced by actively training. It’s not much but considering I would have to gather the materials, and perform the task, I estimate that 1 hour of actively gathering and smelting would reduce 1 hour of passive training. This number are just an example but I think this mechanic would make it awesome. With this suggestion it would take about 30 days maybe to be able to create a decent blacksmith item. I still think this is a lot considering that you can only train one craft at a time, but it will give a better sense of progression. Hope @thomasblair sees this. Skill reach unspent cap at 259200 = 10 days to stop getting points 18 points per minute -> 1080 points per hour -> 25,920 points per day
