  1. So I am a huge guild wars nerd, and there's some stuff you have to understand about why the pvp in GW2 is the way it is. GW2 dodges had MUCH shorter cooldown (~3s) and the reason there was so much dodging in the combat system was because the game was designed around those dodges primarily for pve against hordes of frequent and very heavy damage telegraphs. PvP was one of the last things they developed, and this is why the pvp generally sucked in GW2. They built a combat system entirely around dodging floor telegraphs and near instant cast times for a snappy action combat system against to

  3. Getting started in Crowfall can be challenging without a guide or a Murder of Crows to support you through those first few hours. For that reason, we wanted to share a few “Getting Started” tips through a series of short news articles to help our new Crows take flight. We hope you enjoy this first article in the series and we'd love your feedback. Crowfall is Better with Friends Join us on Saturday, September 26th at 11 AM CDT for our Getting Started in Cowfall live podcast event, on Twitch.tv/CrowfallGame. We’ll have plenty of content creators and expert players on hand to help

  4. That's what a Campaign-based reward system would do - encourage people to participate in the competitive and active parts of the end game. It's a missing piece of the design atm (multi-vector rewards coming SOON™).

  5. Some my suggestions for Crowfall “sociability” improvement elements for prospecting players.. (some SWG inspired) a “PVP” New Player Intro (Siege Perilous/Hunger Dome style) ..rather than first going to a less exciting-“sandbox PVE teaching”-Gods Reach first with low toolbar skills – Something that shows players some PVP BEFORE grinding all the sandbox elements and level learning- (cause todays generation of action first gameplay to be any bit further interested.) - Maybe this PVP battleground intro is non-repeatable once a certain level PVP area. Maybe it provides a way to make a

  6. N.B. I matched the timing on this while standing on solid ground and the orbs still seemed to do damage for me... I suspect that the orbs are falling through the floor, but I was not able to recreate that problem either.

  7. I belong to a guild with well over 100 members, not many want to spend time in a game prior to launch. We do have an advance team learning the ropes and developing a guide so that all guildies get off to a fast start at launch. However, when the advance team calls out for a few more active guildies, we hear, "What's the rush? The game won't launch until next year. If we could share the ACE planned Roadmap with them we would get more active members over. Now, when @ACE-Tiggssaid she was planning 8 weeks of Newbie helpful articles, "Every other week for the next eight weeks we will post a n

  8. I guess that's subjective. I pretty much lived and died by my ability to dodge things in that game, and I died far more often than not. But even if GW2 is on one extreme of the spectrum as you suggest, CF is undisputedly on the opposite end of it. Perhaps as PopeUrban suggests, there is some middle ground that would still provide engaging dodge-gameplay without going overboard. My perspective is that dodge-tanking is more active/engaging/fun than many other forms of counter-play, and it can be balanced more delicately than outright removing it from the game.

  12. If that is the case they would need to remove 99.9% of the game currently. 😄 Bad enough their optimization solutions are remove visuals... IMO, people trying to win or play this as a game at this point are wasting their time. 6.2 hopefully corrects some of the balance issues and bugs, but they have a lot more important things to worry about then 1v1 and individual powers working or not.

  13. Dodge is a misleading name for it's use in CF - it's more like a "change my positioning" ability 🤣 I thought GW2 dodge iframes gave too much easy invulnerability.

  14. 'Crowfall has 11 different roles...'. 'roles like Slayer, Pitfighter, Stormcaller...'. The use of the same word there causes confusion. In the first you use 'roles'' to refer to classes (which we have 11), in the second you use roles to refer to Promos too (in which case we have 33 roles). I would rewrite it as: Crowfall has 11 different roles that cover everything from standard MMO classes like Ranged, Tank, Healer, and Magic-user to many unique combinations of classes, sub-classes, talents, and skills that offer extremely diverse combinations of capabilities giving rise to arc

  15. Crow Tip: Your passive training is useless without multiple types of loot and equipment. As a new player you have everything you need to start acquiring important mob drops like disciplines, gold, certain types of consumables, sacrifice items, and many crafting additives. There are no passive training methods for increasing mob drop rates, so killing NPCs is a perfect activity for new players looking to plan ahead, start a trade empire, get themselves some slightly better gear, or support an established guild!

  19. The entire point of a passive skill system is that you don't have to be online to gain skills. That is literally why it exists. There are plenty of reasons to be online and play the game, Chief among them that your passive skills are useless if you don't have equipment to use them, and that all your equipment needs to be replaced when it breaks from death or use. I really don't want systems in this game that make logging in feel like a chore I have to do. I log in when I want to play the game. I don't want to log in to keep some stupid meter ticking or fetch a daily login reward

  20. The important difference is that it is grinding on a combat capable character for things that go in to your pocket that I can take from you. Sac items allow me to steal you leveling time. That is a far better system of pvp risk and reward. Compare that to the shadowbane model, where a bunch of naked lowbies sit around while somebody AoEs a buncha mobs. Its boring for the people leveling as they don't get to do anything, and if a fight shows up they're boned. Not to mention your mob killing toon is also boned if that fight shows up. Not to mention the guys that killed you don't get to take

    The game is dead

I know this wasnt directed at me, but I say that is desperately needed. The vast majority (I have seen upwards of 90% thrown about by quite a few different dev teams) of players avoid forums, while this is mitigated by being in a beta and needing to sign up, I still contend that most people avoid game forums. Sidenote- one of the reason I pushed for devtracker since for many its the only reason they would visit the forums.

  25. I understand your position towards exploiters in a live game, but what about in a pre-release game that folks paid money to playtest? Finding things that are exploitable or broken before launch is a reason I paid Artcraft money in early development. Again, after release I have no problem with banning accounts for exploiting, not during testing.

  26. Race does matter as each have their own passives and stat differences. High Elf and Fae are good for damage, Wood Elf is good for healing. With a white vessel the choice is pretty much up to personal preference though. It also depends on which promotion you intend on taking. For Archmage and Frostguard all 3 have their advantages and disadvantages. For Icecaller I would probably recommend Wood Elf in most cases. I personally like Wood Elf for their dodge because it tends to be more disorienting for enemies since it's a 20m blink in any direction but statistically in a white vessel W

  27. Yes. Each race has different abilities and starting stats. So the synergy of the race you pick and the class can have a pretty good sized impact on how you play. Here's a great spreadsheet @baewen put together: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1D_maKEkMItfMA8rFa1_u5WESzKptHuYkTgHh3b6ZVqM/edit#gid=2047351723 EDIT: Should probably rep my guild as well.
