  3. We've been wanting to add a more forward motion to attacks and allow for small free movement in-between combo's. This way melee combat would feel less restrictive. That's not to say we are going to move away from full body animation locks, but certainly give more consistent momentum with each swing allowing. What you're playing right now is the result of 16 weeks of work, we've identified numerous improvements we want to make in the future and I'm confident that we'll accomplish the perfect balance between melee and ranged movement options!

  4. I feel like they've got plenty of time to hit their December 2016 release date. This is a PvP only game and that makes a big difference. Most of the time and money spent developing MMOs is in designing thousands of quests, building zones, dungeons, raids etc. PvP in traditional MMOs gets a fraction of the time and resources that PvE does. The worlds in Crowfall are going to be randomly generated. I'm sure that developing the world generator is going to take some time but nothing compared to making tons and tons of zones. Right now they are building the tools to help make things happen faster and even that is going much better than I was expecting. The real reason why you think development is going slow is because you're sitting here constantly F5ing the home page hoping some new Crowfall news come out. We're all doing that

  11. Great update. I do have one thought about reducing the number of weekly updates. Reducing updates to once per-week will also reduce the number of tweets, Facebook Posts, Discussion threads and clicks into this site. I think that keeping updates at four per week would give the perception that more information is being given, even if it's the same amount of info. By putting all of the week's info into one large post can seem overwhelming and important details may get glossed over. I actually prefer the 4 posts per week. That being said, I do appreciate how much extra work it is to post so frequently.

  14. What's good, people? Figured this would be a good place to make my first post on the forums, so here I stand. I heard about CF through a Team Fortress 2 Highlander teammate, and I have to say, I am pleased with what CF promises. I used to play WoW back in the good old days of Burning Crusade -> (Early) Witch King, and I always enjoyed playing with my guild buds, running low levels through Scarlet Monastery. I stopped playing when I got tired of guild hopping as each one dissolved, and friends stopped logging in. Rose tinted glasses fit so well sometimes, yah' know? For the past couple years, I've been getting back into communities. I started by joining a Planetside 2 outfit, AoD. Most recently, I started playing on competitive TF2 Highlander teams. It was after watching a few episodes of Log Horizon this summer I realized that I wanted to get back into MMORPGs, and I heard a lot of good stuff about the developer team working on a little game called Crowfall. You may have heard of it. If I sound a bit formal I'd like to blame the engineering degree I'm working on right now. Sleep deprivation, caffeine, and calculus are a potent mix. PM me your electric flux equations. But yeah, I guess that's it! Time for a bit of escapism, yes? I'm looking at joining a guild right now. Size isn't much of an issue, and If I have to play more seriously, or even roleplay, I'm down! My most excellent resume: Experience with: Leading squads/platoons in PS2 Dungeon raids for WoW (might be rusty with those mechanics though) Coordinating team tactics from TF2 Familiar with: Ventrilo Mumble Teamspeak Looking forward to playing with you all at Beta 2! I plan on playing Templar at the moment. Oh also here's my steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/MilkforEveryone/ If I'm not in a competitive match, and you ever want to play some TF2, lemme know!

  25. We already have what is basically a working game mode less than 20 weeks into development. Most AAA titles will take 3-5 years of development and you won't see anything about them until closed beta. Considering their team size, I'd say this is one of the most successful and quick development cycles I've ever seen.

  27. I think JTC summed it up pretty well when he was talking about people that constantly have problems with imbalances.... MMORPGs aren't supposed to be balanced, they aren't supposed to be fair fights with equal numbers equal progression on flat terrain with the same compositions for everyone.... They are supposed to be players adapting to all sorts of different situations.

  28. I admit I enjoy the idea to remove 1 year character progression completely from the game, Devs have never said anything about expected length of time to softcap or hardcap a character. A 1-year guess is completely fanon. It`s a pointless mmo feature to kill npc/players to gain skills, because in a year all are at similar levels due to passive skill training anyway - it`s no carrot for me - just a meaningless task/mmo feature. Your pointless MMO feature doesn't exist in Crowfall anyway. Passive training can be used to raise skills from 0 to cap, and is the only option for raising skills from minimum competence to cap. Active skill training is not a grind, it's just a way for you to raise up a very weak skill to something barely useful a little faster than passive training alone would allow. - The major weakness with skills: It`s seldom a fair fight mainly based on different weapon skill levels in (%) which will create a gap among players due to (weapon meta; attack speed, range, reach, and dps.) "A fair fight" is not any part of the design goals of the Crowfall game system. Character balance has been explicitly rejected by the devs as being either feasible or desirable. Your job is to use your character in ways that are as unfair as possible to your enemies. Summing up, I have no idea what you're trying to say or achieve with this thread, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with the game ACE is developing.

  30. Yeah, stupid carebears! What kind of a person would want to build their own world? I mean authors, directors, game designers and artist--these people are just bad at PvP, or maybe war or sports or something, that's why they create stuff! So, man, it's like they're compensating for their inability to destroy stuff by making stuff! But we see through that BS--stupid babies need to go back to they're baby games and leave this hardcore engine of pure destruction alone!

    Looting Time

One of the things I noticed was the time it takes to loot ie...chest or character body. I strongly suggest you try to add a time element to looting. 3-6 seconds for things such as chests or artifacts and 5-10 seconds for looting a body. No movement or actions until looting is complete. Why? Because snatch and twitch grab is annoying to other players, especially enemies. Partial looting if interrupted can possibly be added. Just a minor suggestion from a retired game developer.

  35. I may be misunderstanding the OP but, where did the 1 year thing come from? As far as I've seen the length of time they're talking about is 3~ months which is similar in time to an example of campaign length. If you make a gimp character in 1 campaign, you can reroll or create a separate character and be maxed by the next one. Keep in mind that VIP's also have up to 3 training slots and also campaign rulesets will favor specific archetypes and builds. I don't think there's anything wrong with screwing up a character, it's all part of the learning experience. You will make mistakes or find that you don't enjoy something. You may even find some rare item (thrall or rune etc) that you want to build a character around. I'd say it's a core feature of the game and I hope that it stays that way.

I am very thankful for the recruits we have had this far. 0 drama is very nice. WS must just be a good luck charm, because the quality of people in it is phenomenal. I know this probably won't last and we will get a few bad eggs, but I also know it will be dealt with immediately. I have to agree with Zim as he put it perfectly when he said this It starts with the top, and he is a great leader. Level headed and humble.

  39. Pure comedy when you are a giant horse whose rear can barely fit into a doorway, and you get flung like a doll off the keep wall xD ! I do love the direction ACE is going with the Legionnaire as "action" support. I played most of my test matches as Legio and felt it was challenging and so fun trying to improve my gameplay with it each testing period. Look forward to seeing how the archetype develops

  40. Good theory but no, when testing I often ask others to come in and test various things (like movement). The big differential between internal tests and the live server is of course latency. This'll improve overtime so that things become more accurate!

  41. All these silly game mode suggestions are only going to fragment the player base further. That's one of the things I'm worried about with Crowfall. I'd much rather have large campaigns with healthy numbers of players over tons of crap campaigns with different rules. Games are transitioning out of selling map packs and other things that fragment their communities. Even games that could absolutely get away with charging for their map packs are no longer doing it (Halo 5). Players want to feel like they're playing a popular game, especially in an MMO. Lots of people won't play a game they think they'll like just because they've heard there's not a big community.

  43. the faster combat will be,the easier to lose oversight in larger scale battle. Large scale combat needs tactics designed around slow combat.Like castle sieges. The rival needs to get the opportunity to respond to an approaching catapult. You cant just throw all tactics designed around slow combat out of the window if we are going to have large scale battles.

  44. The way you've stated, it's not. The ways I've seen it happen recently, it is.... I see words like, "don't like it, get out!" used quite often now. This is mean, jerky and negative. I think as the "old" forum warriors have progressed, the more they've become irritated and the more aggressive the reply's are. Which is teaching new people the wrong attitude about the game's community... Best solution, stop caring, start ignoring...

  45. If the hate on the EKs was coming from a logical place it would be fine... but as it is it is just absurd. Do you really want the game to be so 1 dimensional that all you have are CWs and resets? The ultimate goal of mmorpgs is to someday create such a dynamic and immersive world that gives people what feels like limitless options and choices they can make. CWs are temporary... the other side of the coin is the EKs which give permanence... ACE is going to design them to fit hand in hand. Sure there will be some people that may rarely ever touch CWs or some people that may rarely ever touch EKs, but just because people can choose to play like that doesn't mean ACE will prioritize that kind of playstyle. The main reason i've seen for people hating on the EKs is because they want to tell themselves they are the kind of person that only cares about the pvp, not understanding that the EKs will play a very important part in developing many of the avenues the community will explore. If you want a game that strictly focuses on PvP you are basically looking for an arena based game in spirit. When I play an mmorpg i'm looking for a game that creates a sprawling environment filled with players of all shapes and sizes to interact with... Not just 1 type of gamer who has 1 set of preferences, and definitely not some wannabe hardcore gamers.
