    Siege Perilous Questions

    Great list. Outlining this system will be the focus of one or more updates between now and SP 1.0. and remember that some of the answers, just like Hunger Dome, will be short-cuts that we are taking right now, just for testing. We're still not going to be using generated maps, so that means by default there will be a handful of things that we know we have to come back and revisit for the actual game. (just like the item drops in Hunger Dome, which were dropped in due to the fact that we don't have crafting or resource collection. Todd ACE

    Siege Perilous Questions

    I'm itching for more information about Siege Perilous (SP) but since I can't get my crowcain fix I figured I'd indulge in some rampant speculation with fellow addicts. The only things I know about SP come from this post http://crowfall.com/en/news/founders-update-testing-2-0-siege-perilous/ So...two team session based test of capture mechanics and destruction. I think its safe to assume that much of the team mechanics from the hunger dome will move to SP in that we can pick which of two teams we will join. The destruction will probably be in the same map layout. My questions: Where will the Siege equipment be?Are they already placed in the world - SP 1.0 Catapults spawn 3 at a time in the world. After SP the plan is to have build times and resource requirements for each that craters will manage with a limited number of bays to build siege equipment Can I buy siege equipment from vendors Do we have to loot siege equipment from mobs How are the bane circles and trees placedSame locations every time - SP 1.0 Tree of Life (TOL) is always on top of the keep and the bane trees are West, North, and East of the keep. Random selection of # locations each What are the siege mechanics likeDoes "entering" the siege equipment grant me a new set of skills - SP 1.0 Does clicking the siege equipment just cause it to do its thing Do they have pet controls and AI runs it What kind of siege equipment is available to each team? - SP 1.0 has catapults for the attacking team. Plans to add more in the future. Will the hunger still be the upper limit for the duration of each match? - SP 1.0 A time limit is set but it is adjusted by deaths for defenders and attackers. Destroy the TOL and attackers win. Destroy the Bane Trees and defenders win. The team that has done the most damage to the TOL or all 3 bane trees wins when the time runs out. Can the defenders repair walls and other defenses? - SP 1.0 not yet Is siege damage a new kind of pool? - Yes, but magic damage from players will remove the magic barrier on wallsFor clarity-do walls have HP that my sword of fireball can reduce or does my ability need to have some new kind of damage factor Edits: In Bold

    Yeees A contest <3 Here are my "creations" depicting of the famous Australia routes. (I love these landscape) The long road of waiting for Crowfall. I do not know if I further transform this photo. Otherwise written "Beware Unfenced MMO For Next 150 Days" for exemple. It would be better? Protecting crows, save crowfall ! (Sorry for my (so) poor english, i'm a french fan ^^'. I prefer read than write )

    Love it or hate it I backed it because I liked the ideas presented. I was tired of the same retread ideas and this was something different. Even if this game crashes and burns the noise has been made that there is an audience out there that wants something different. The MMO scene has been lacking innovation for a while as they all try to copy WoW with some tweaks.

    I would never in my whole life even get to the idea, to draw a picture for the people at EA or any other game publisher these days. I think nobody in the whole world would ever come to this idea, no one, not even their family members. Its totally awkward, isnt it?! But for you guys I did, because I really felt like doing it, because its really fun to be with you guys. Keep up the good work. We can reach anything within game creating together, what EA and their likes never ever could, even with all their money they got. Because money doesnt make games. I didnt know the people of ACE before (Gordon Walton and JTC). But I have to say they are seemingly an outstanding shiny last hope for the future of the gaming industry. They are totally different from the rest of the gaming industry, its so much necessary, so much needed and so refreshing to have interesting people, who love video games, developing your game. The rest is really upsetting. If Crowfall comes to be anywhere near from what I expect, and so far it is looking pretty good, I am gonna support them in anything they are going to do in the future.

    Time Played Vs Player Skill

    I think it is much more important in matters of balancing that the overall usefulness of every archetype remains relevant. In so many mmo's I have played there are use-LESS classes, skills, and the devs usually do a poor job of re-balance causing an awful shift in player habits we call FotM builds. It is VERY hard for the developers to get it right when designing around rock-paper-scissors or even more complex relationships between skills and the counter abilities for these skills. This thread is about player skill balance, I know that and see nothing wrong with the proposed system of ticking up skills over time rather than from in-game actions... If I never grind levels in a game again I will be happy. But there are many looking to gain advantage by simply having the time to play more than others and I think that they will; through better crafted goods and better twitch skills rather than just staying ahead of the crowd in leveling. But this is the same crowd that tends toward FotM toons and addressing this balance is super important, we already see it in Hungerdome. When a team finds that the best group is running around with 10 identically built Champions (or whatever) then the devs have a problem, in fact if ANY archetype is less valuable than another in battle, the devs have a problem. This is the hardest part of design in a hardcore PvP game... we have a tendency to think when we get beat, "I gotta switch to THAT build because this one is weak." when in fact we should be looking for the weaknesses in the victor and how they can be exploited. EVERY archetype needs a weakness as well as a strength. Rock, Paper, Scissors is too simple to describe the real chart of offsets between the archetypes and play testing is huge. We do not want to see the cycle of FotM in CF nor a constant re-balancing circle jerk... we need to see every archetype well designed to do exactly what they were designed for... beat someone in a particular way, if they don't like it, they have to also adapt. Players that whine about skills and balance instead of adapting and looking for weakness to exploit are just plain lazy.

    Survival Campaign

    Yeah no offense OP but perhaps before your next post maybe spend some time reading the FAQs and info about the game. CF is PvP focused, there won't be PvE campaigns or scripted events with waves mobs. At most you might be able to go to the nearest village agro a bunch of mobs and try to train them on your enemies but again no scripted PvE events.

    Before the Kickstarter, I spent over a decade looking for this game. I was annoyed that nobody seemed to think about fun the same way I did. Nobody saw that the major problems with political/economic stagnation could be solved with a big reset button. When I discovered Crowfall, my initial reaction (besides excitement) was profound relief. I was afraid that this concept would never fly. But it will. Thank you, ACE team!

    As I walked 1,500 miles of the Appalachian Trail this year I had a Crowfall pin on my backpack. The Crowfall pin traveled to many landmarks including two National Parks(Smoky Mountains and Shenandoah), Gettysburg, the original Washington Monument, the various sites of New York City, and many other areas. You may photoshop the CF logo but I brought the CF logo. GOML photoshop scrubs.

    can we please keep that feature? Planetside 2 had that bug for a while and they removed it, much to my dismay to be honest. Quake 2 strafejumps were a bug and they kept it, and it turned out to be a godsend for the whole genre pretty please?

    na dann... lass ich mich halt aus Um ganz ehrlich zu sein, bin ich kurz davor meine Accounts zu verscherbeln. Wenn mir jemand genug bietet, würd ich mit Freuden einen abgeben. Aber dies nurmal um meine derzeitige Stimmung zu unterstreichen. Combat: Mir scheint es so, als wäre unser wehrter Herr Blair unfähig, was das Entwickeln der combat engine angeht. Das was wir bisher gesehen haben, erinnert enorm an dieses superhelden spiel an dem er zuvor gearbeitet hat. Sehr statisch und dann einfach "action combat" drauss gemacht, anstelle des Tab-Targetings. Die Tatsache, dass er mehr oder weniger von Todd ein paar auf die Finger bekommen hat, macht mich etwas optimistischer, aber ich bin sehr skeptisch was die Umsetzung für SP angeht. Wenn ich bis zu dessen release dann keine Schritte in die richtige Richtung sehe, werd ich mich wohl verabschieden (was hier wohl paar leute freuen wird ). Diese Trusted Trader werden einen zwar preislich übern Tisch ziehen, aber was will man machen... Wegfall / neue Mitarbeiter: Seh das nicht als sonderlich schlimm an. Zumindest bis auf Thomas Sitch... das beisst ACE evtl noch in den Arsch, wenn dem seine Tornado Engine nicht so funktioniert wie sie soll. Der wird sich seiner Vampir Totgeburt widmen und ob die Engine jetzt funktioniert oder nicht, wird ihm wohl ziemlich sacke sein. Was die anderen angeht... meh... denk so leute gibts wie Sand am Meer. Release Termin: Es scheint ja, als ob sie am Dez 2016 festhalten. Beim derzeitigen Tempo und selbst mit äusserst optimistischen Aussichten, ist der Termin absolut utopisch und selbst wenn sie, wie sie immer sagen, den Termin einfach wahrnehmen und nicht mehr wipen, wär imo ein Release zu dem Zeitpunkt absolut katastrophal. Ich hoffe, dass die sich das nochmal ganz genau überlegen und lieber ne Beta nen Jahr länger ziehen, als irgendwas Halbfertiges zu releasen und dann lauter 40er Wertungen auf Gaming-Seiten kassieren. Ansonsten... gibt ja nicht viel neues oder überraschendes. Die News der letzten Monate haben jetzt nichts weltbewegendes oder unerwartetes offenbart. Bin weiterhin der Meinung, dass ACE's Marketing unter aller Sau ist und sie immer noch nicht realisiert haben, was ihre eigentliche Zielgruppe ist. Die Leute, denen sie Interviews geben, oder die Artikel schreiben sind sowas von abseits der Zielgruppe, ist nicht mehr feierlich.

    Other games did it, often with some lag. Crowfall hopefully will to. I've always been skeptical of the real physics and voxel destruction. Seems like a lot of potential for lag that only adds marginal benefits to the tactical pvp. Fake physics (e.g. cast power, target moves 10 feet back) is just fine. For sieges, the wall can either be standing or not. Voxels not needed. Whatever though. Decisions were made. We get to see the results in March.

    Soooo... Probably should have introduced myself here.. I am a long time gamer (over 20+ years) and I am really looking forward to this game. The concept and attributes that have been incorporated into this is awesome! I know we can all agree! I am really looking forward to the realm vs realm system and the kingdom hierarchy of this game. While I am normally a hard core PvE gamer, the PvP (which takes more teamwork than anything) seems amazing. I hope some of the rest of you fellow "crows" do agree, I am really looking forward to testing this and incorporating all our ideas together to make this game great! Fiendly

    After playing these poorly made socksty MOBA today again I reverse my statement. Please no statistics anywhere in thsi game. People are clearly far too stupid for statistics. Statistics ruin your game, because these idiots lose games because they only care for a number in their statistics. People are so damn stupid. Please hurry and bring this game out. I cant take it anymore, seriously!

    You would think that Artcraft could do a short capstone video at the end of a season. Especially if the video highlights the losers accomplishments. The winners already got a bunch of goodies from winning the season. An "atta-boy" to the losers should lift their spirits and get them ready to get trounced again.

    I think that it would be a really great way to remember what happened in a campaign after the world gets destroyed. Maybe the videos could also be watched directly in-game by the players, just by clicking on a map or list of dead worlds.
