  1. While there seems to be a lot to build and test for Crowfall release, keep in mind that at the core CF is just six systems, Combat System, Siege System, Character (vessel) Creation/Skill Tree System, Crafting System, POI/Resource System, CW/EK System, and not a whole lot more. There is no questing nor time consuming testing needed for quest lines or instances that are the "meat and potatoes" of today's (yawn) mmos. Once each of these systems are in place and are fleshed out for release there is not all that need for area/level/story-line development that takes the most time and effort (and

  4. There will be no factions in the Dregs. Guilds will be able to operate there without special recognition software enabled. And guilds can enforce their own laws. Reputation systems are unneeded and unwanted in CF. Too little benefit and too much code tying up the servers.

  7. Good Morning! Checking in for Ghosts of the Revolution We will be looking to put a foot down in Crowfall upon launch. Better known for our tactical gameplay on Planetside 2 and TERA. I am Alex, or IGN will be SwiggitySwootie, If you are interested in GoTR send me a message, or post something here I'll be more than happy to reply, otherwise I hope to see everyone on the battlefield in the upcoming tests. Looking forward to what this game has to offer and hoping for a great launch!

    Howdy folks.

Glad to see a good community forming around this game. The Iron Circle will be setting up shop in Crowfall as a PvP-RP guild and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of it. Had a blast in an EU test today despite only being able to play for one match with horrendous lag. Good times.

  9. It's going to be interesting to see how it plays out. That's a lot of stuff for a single archetype. I don't recall ACE giving specific details about how FF would work though. I haven't played a game wherein we may accidentally heal enemies, but it's something that could be cool to have in CF I guess.

    Darkfall Nostalgia

Aventurine announced that they're shutting down DF:UW. "Dear friends, We have been involved with Darkfall for over 13 years now and it is our hope that we will be able to continue well into the future with your support. Unfortunately, and against our best efforts, the conditions in Greece have caught up with us and do not allow us to continue operating the game as we have been so far. We hope that the disruption of Darkfall Unholy Wars service is temporary and that we will be back soon in a more sustainable format. We apologize for the inconvenience to all that are affected." https://fo

  11. If AoE caps/damage splitting is one of those switches that can be realistically turned off in the Dregs, even better!

  12. A PBAOE heal (i.e., C) on a front line support archetype requires "tactics" that move the support class (and others engaging in melee) off the front line. The Legio's 2 ability would require "tactics" that consist of turning away from your opponents to cast it for self-heal purposes (whilst they no doubt spasmodically try to jump in front of you when they anticipate you doing so). These don't really sound like "tactics" at all, but fiddly and silly extras that are detractors more than anything else. That is not to say that FF heals could not work, but they will require an appropriate system

  16. I think its moving along well. I'm sure it doesn't seem that way in the abstract. Test some and you'll know exactly what's up. Even if you hate it at least you'll understand what's good and what isn't (and what doesn't exist yet). Combat is improving, but a large portion of the backers / testers want tweaks. A small and kind of vocal minority of testers want a total rework in favor of twitchy combat. An even smaller contingent seem to want the opposite - telling me the devs are actually getting close to where they probably want to be in terms of "speed" or jumpiness (not a word) of combat

  17. Guys, not every every archetype needs two skill trays. Do some archetypes need more skill variety? Yes, I think it is safe to say that. However, there are other ways to address this that are listed in this thread, as well in other places on these boards and undoubtedly already in the minds of ACE devs. You love dual skill trays? Great, CF has archetypes with them. You hate dual skill trays? Great, CF has archetypes without them. It really isn't that hard...

  18. Since dual bars are all the rage these days, the knight could actually put his shield away and go two handed during this period. Hand and a half "bastard" swords could be used effectively in either one or two hands, so there's no reason it couldn't be applied to a knight tray swap.

  19. So, you want them to be like every other MMO and make a pure healer, but then you chastise them for not being different. Having mechanics that place limitations on the character makes them more interesting. It makes the abilities more situational. It's the same reason we have finite resource pools. We have to manage our resources if we want to be successful, which raises the skill cap for playing the character. I would much, much rather have more of this type of stuff than less. I wish the knight had some mechanic that worked based on attack and defense. For example, the knight's block

  20. The last match on todays test was a hunger dome and the performance and stability of it is night and day compared to Siege Perilous. 60fps, low input lag, etc. Really where I think ACE has a problem is in their physics engine and Voxel Farm, and they've not said anything about it. Even with small numbers SP has had terrible performance fps wise, which I would be more than willing to bet the culprits are voxel farm/physics. We have yet to see any real terrain destruction/modification as well and I'm not sure how ACE is going to do that. Especially when you consider how many games have come

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle Pre-alpha refers to all activities performed during the software project before testing. These activities can include requirements analysis, software design, software development, and unit testing. In typical open source development, there are several types of pre-alpha versions. Milestone versions include specific sets of functions and are released as soon as the functionality is complete. The functionality currently being tested is the combat system. The next set of functions will be the siege mechanics in March.
