    I need an answer!

You want answers? Son, we live in a world that has pixels, and those pixels have to be guarded by other pixels. Who's gonna do it? You? ACE has a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for the unfinished state of the game and you curse the developers. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know; that extended alpha testing, while tedious, probably makes for a stable launch. And extended alpha testing, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, helps crush bugs. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at LAN parties, you want extended alpha testing. You need extended alpha testing. We use words like frame rate, code, latency. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending pixels. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the extended alpha testing that ACE provides, and then questions the manner in which they provide it! I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a mouse and login. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

    Harvesting quantity vs quality

I still feel there should be a refining process which multiplies the number of usable resources. one tree could give 2-10 logs but could give 50-100 planks of wood which could make 100-150 bows (as a horrible exaggerated example). It could be possible to add refining post-launch so that 'back in the day we didn't refine stuff. we had to spend a month to chop wood' catch phrases could be used. eve online has mining for all resources but then you process the raw ore into minerals which are used in all crafting. skills multiply how much ore you get- just as skills increase doobers- and refining skills and station efficiency multiply how much minerals you get-which we don't have. This causes all current gathering to be a 1:1 rate which feels tedious. The weight also reduces from ore into minerals. Players weigh out if it's worth moving ore to a better refining station or mine more ore. Maybe basic tools, weapons and gear can use raw resources which are quickly gathered. Intermediate gear could use a combination of raw and processed while Advanced could use only processed. This would give a upgrade process that follows skills (at least for the first campaign). Skills can change the percent we receive from processing, which could be a skill line of its own, so that those that specialize in processing can refine better. I could see some frustration from gatherers which, I can see that perspective, could put 1 node in each of gathering base or advanced lines. But I also know people who can cut a tree can't process it well enough. Miners in a mine only gather the ore and debris and a processor sorts and refine the ore into usable ingots. Then we have Disciplines. I could imagine a refining Disc that gives a spell to refine but it wouldn't be as good as using hardware.

First of all, welcome to the community. At least as far as possible. Because, let's be frank, you kind of screwed up your first impression. And of course people will (and did) react acordingly. But that's ok. You are new. Nobody can expect that you are as much familiar with the Crowfall development as those who followed it through the last years. On the other hand, nobody can expect the veterans to have endless patience for always the same questions and preconceptions. If both sides will be able to come together - we'll see. In the end, your feeback shows that there is a communication issue. You obviously believed that you would buy a more or less finished game. That's not the case. Crowfall is currently in Pre-Alpha 5.5. Whith Pre-Alpha meaning that all test environments only include specific parts of the later game that have to be tested individually, before all the parts will be put together in Alpha (which should happen likely within the next three months). And the fine tuning coming later in Beta. Your feedback also shows two other things. First, you are a person who gives feedback. Thats good. A lot of people don't. On the other hand, you are a consumer. You expect to get something. Point is: the package you bought is a pre-order package. You bought the later game (release: late 2018/early 2019). In addition - as a bonus - you got access to the current test environments. This early access has not been charged, it's official price is $0, you got it for free. The early access is meant to give the interested community the opportunity to test specific things, to give there feedback - and by this helping to make the game better. You have to understand that, because that is what it is. Wether this is communicated well on the website where you can buy such a pre-order package or not / wether it is better communicated in this or that language, that's another question. And by the way the only one that really counts in this matter. So my suggestion would be: Don't feel disappointed about your experiences. Maintain your desire of sharing them. But leave the typical consumer mindset and join our tester mindset. For example: Make a feedback thread in the discussions/suggestions forunm, sharing your first-timer experience about how much it looked like you were buying a finished game (and why), or contact support@crowfall.com if you want to keep it private. We are here to help the game becoming the best game possible. We can make a change, if we are willing and able. And you are part of "we". If you want to. Have fun, good luck Kraahk (Btw.: If you want to, join the discord channel of the french speaking community. You can find the link in my signature. )

    I need an answer!

Hello everyone! This is the first time i create a topic for crawfall, and it's all for this unique question: why? So,i've just started to play two days ago and i think this game has a lot of problems, not about his concept, his design, but because the entire experience i found in this game wasn't what i expected.because the trailer was actualy just too different with the game.I've heard about a realistic fighting system and a massive strategy game, with faction controlling city and territory and trying to won a gigantic war in a world where undeads get out of theirs graves and became a massive threat in winter. one of the creator say something like "the mixt between eve online and games of thrones".I can understand that is realy difficult to make a massive strategy when the game is in a beta or alpha phase, but where is the strategy? where is the interactive world ruled by the players made by the players, discovered by the players and for god sake where is the roleplay? If anyone has the answer and would tell me why the creators gave all this illusions to the players like me i'm interested in. Thank you for reading, and sorry for my grammar and spelling, I wasn't born in England.

    Is crowfall fundamentally boring?

How you destroy a Knotwood Tree in the beginning of a campaign, regardless of animation used, isn't going to really matter. If punching a tree is enough to turn you off from the game, then I guess cya in another game. It's not that big of a deal. It sure is a heck of a lot more enjoyable to watch than spawning some terrible glowing blue axe that would do around the same amount of damage but since the animation time was longer it actually takes cumulatively more time to collect whatever necessary resources to craft your first couple axes to continue moving onto better stuff. I am more concerned with how few things crafters are going to make with no training or how fast their child tree training is going to take once training times are set to normal speeds. How I get Knotwood in the first 5 minutes of a brand new campaign is pretty irrelevant and a low barrier to entry into moving further into the game loop to more fun things. How about focusing our time discussing things that are actually going to matter?

    Question from kickstarter page

The plan hasn't significantly deviated, other than in some systems/areas we've built more than we originally intended (vessels, disciplines, real-time parcel stitching... and of course the poster-child of expanded scope, the race/class split). That said, while the "top-level" feature list hasn't changed, I have made -- and will continue to make -- made changes to content and implementation where it makes sense -- the vassals system, which I'll be doing a refresh on soon, is the one that leaps to mind (because I'm working on it right now). My general rule in these cases is to give you guys something either more flexible/functional than promised, or -- if and when we have to fall back -- to explain how and why and do the best that I can to live up to the spirit of that feature. When major things happen, Gordon and I will typically announce them "off-cadence" with a Founder's Update, typically on a Wednesday but occasionally on a Friday. In terms of the milestone schedule, yes, of course we have a plan internally but we never share that because I things shift around constantly in the development process and it doesn't matter how many caveats we make; if we say it, or even imply it, some players take it as a gospel -- and get really mad when we "break that promise". So instead our approach is to (1) communicate constantly, (2) be as transparent as possible, (3) which includes openly owning our mistakes, and (4) show constant forward progress. To that end, I think we've done a pretty good. Hopefully you guys agree. Todd

    Questions about the game system

Welcome to the forums. Some additions to what already has been said. "Are those economic, crafting features active in the campaign section which will reset or are they in the eternal kingdoms too?" Both. Probably important to know is that each account has an account inventory which exists outside the worlds and can be used to import/export stuff to both EK's and campaigns. Usually campaigns will have limited imports (up to none) and possible exports depend on your campaign result. Campaigns with no imports of course require all the trading and crafting to be done solely within these campaigns, while those with imports allow you to prepare beforehand in the EK's. So there is economics in both. EK's economics depend on campaigns, some campaign economics can be supported by EK's within limits. "Can i fight and try to conquer another players eternal kingdom" As been said, the EK's themselves can not be conquered by the usual means. It's possible to do kind of player-organized tournaments of course. Let's say two guilds build each a stronghold within a neutral EK and they fight; winner gets it all. You can create hierarchies and/or realize a feudal system where several groups can vie to be the strongest, which then is allowed to rule the EK. Besides that it is technical possible to import whole EK's into the campaign world. The devs mentioned it once and though it might be an interesting idea to provide campaigns that are made of EK's, so player groups could directly attack other EK's and defend the own. But that was just an idea and there haven't been any more concrete plans yet. But it's possible and we might get it one day. And where is the "throne war simulator" comes in? Both in the EK's and the CW's. In the EK's it will be more roleplay/group management/player-organized. And in the campaigns it is about ruling the world, because who rules the world wins the campaign. You can kneel before other groups in the campaigns and the guild system generally allows for several levels of sub-guilds. We will hear more about these things soon. But i would expect that especially in the guild campaigns, the extensive sub-guild system will be used to organize the thronewar.

    Questions about the game system

I think the options for EK's will be endless and go as far as the imagination of the community. I have pictured people organizing PVP events in their EKs for prizes and bragging rights. You can turn your EK into a shopping mall. You can turn it into your own personal kingdom and give rights to your friends/guild mates. Think of the EK as a staging ground/housing instance and just an overall do what you want area! I am sure we will get more and more tools to do whatever we imagine in the EK. We will be able to craft/make parcels grow our area. As far as Materials go its been said many times youll just get the same basic stuff you collect at start as of now. Slag/Knotwood/Cobblestone. All of your account wide training/property will persist in your EK.

Status: Guilded Me Region: NA (West) Play-Style: Crafter/Healer/Support. Casual/Hardcore?: Midcore Commitment: Committed. I don’t want to be the best, but I want to make a meaningful impact. When I’m going to start playing: Alpha. I am not into playing Pre-Alpha (yet?). Experience: Ragnarok Online, ArcheAge, and FFXIV. I was the second person on my FFXIV server to get max level in all crafting disciplines at launch. I think that speaks to my commitment level. My group was also the first group on the server to clear the final raid at launch. I absolutely hated the raiding theme park, but it’s a nice accomplishment at least. Also, I have played other non-MMO games at a competitive level. Comments: I am looking for something long-lasting, preferably with veterans from games like Shadowbane or SWG. Despite not having played myself, I think I would get along well with that crowd. What I want in a guild General: Must be a guild dedicated to only Crowfall. Not one of those guilds that exists in multiple games. Ultimately, the goal of the guild should be to make a meaningful impact in campaigns. The guild should strive to be a formidable opponent and a reliable ally. Victory is a bonus, not a necessity. Atmosphere: No ranks, just people. People who don’t have anger issues. Size: Medium. 20 ~ 50. Campaign Preference: Full-loot hardcore campaigns that last 30 ~ 90 days. Voice-Chat Services: I want a guild that prefers text chat for solo play, and voice chat for group play. This is very important to me. I don’t want to listen to a bunch of people talk into my ears when I’m trying to relax. Crafting in town? Voice chat off. Solo grinding mobs? Voice chat off. Ganking party? Voice chat on. Eight hour castle siege? Voice chat on.

Looking for the guild with most/all of the old Virakar folks to join up with! I was a (minor) member of Virakar on Vindi(? the lore server -- the 'Nicks'), then Darkfall (Mehatil Stands! -- 'Nick Danger') Other relevant games: Warbirds (Black Sheep Squadron -=BS=-); UO (LS shard: Skara Brae Rangers, Yew Rangers; Siege Perilous: unaligned); currently Archeage (Kyrios: unaligned). Guild criteria: Region: US(Arizona) Atmosphere: Mature (as in responsible adults defined by behavior not chronological age), Fun&Games when appropriate and serious when not (such as for sieges) Casual/Hardcore?: more hardcore than casual, esp. when getting started, sieges, etc. Size: Big enough to have an impact, small enough to not be lost in the crowd Play-Style: The bad: I'm retired, old and slowed, and my best pvp days are long behind me. Twitch combat and fast reflexes are no more. The good: I know when to shut up and listen, can follow orders, and put the good of the group ahead of personal interest. I accept that support roles are likely my best way to contribute, but will do what is needed. Commitment: most nights. What I am looking for: I don't get frustrated/angry or give up/logout when things don't go well, instead I buckle down and try harder. I expect the guild and my mates to do the same. Better to up our game than recruit numbers to overcome a challenge. Virakar was a great example of this. I also expect mates to behave themselves, and treat others with at least the respect their behavior merits. @SilentAzure: "Irekei will rule the desert again" Would that it be so!

Guild criteria: Region: Central(St. Louis) Atmosphere: Relaxed, easy going Casual/Hardcore?: Wishing I could be hardcore but I'll be honest that due to time constraints I probably will be more casual because of 2 jobs and Master's school work. Size: Doesn't matter. The more people I meet and know the better! Play-Style: I've done a bit of everything. I think I'm pretty interested in Druid or Templar right now. Willing to give whatever is needed a go though Commitment: For the game I always strive to be one of the best in my class roles. I do all the research on how to play the class and then how to be better. Pretty easy going and willing to listen and learn and adapt to anything. As for the guild side, I don't mind doing whatever is necessary to help the guild. I'm always open to do anything. I try to do what's better for the team/guild rather than myself. Experience: Other MMOs I've played: WoW, Tera, BDO, TESO, BNS, Destiny to just name a few. Other than that I play all sorts of other games that don't really relate to this kind of game. Voice-Chat services: Any works for me Other Notes: Some people ask or want to know this so I'm 27 years old. I'm just looking to have fun and kick some ass Alternatively, I'm open to just some group that wants to play the tests.

Just bought into the alpha. Guild criteria: Region: US (Northeast) Atmosphere: Looking for a laid back atmosphere that is still engaged in progressing and has some purpose. Casual/Hardcore?: Somewhere in-between, I don't have a ton of time per week to play but want to dive right in when I do. Size: No preference, Though usually have played in a smaller tight-knit group that would latch on to bigger guilds. Play-Style: I have always been a tank/melee in MMO's past, I don't mind a little light RP if it adds to immersion. Commitment: Weekend nights and some weekday nights. I have a family and busy job so it does become a bit of a balancing act but I always keep in contact about my availability. Miscellaneous: Usually play all types of games with a group of cousins and friends, they haven't taken the plunge on this yet. They're letting me take the beach first. Guild criteria: Region: US Eastern Atmosphere: Mature and friendly crowd, preferably 30+, who are able to accept the fact that real life happens from time to time. Casual/Hardcore?: Semi hardcore. As stated above, real life happens on occasion and gaming is my way of getting away from the day to day stresses of real life. I prefer my game time to be productive yet fun, and not more stressful than actual life. With that said, I may not min/max to the top 1%, or swap builds with every new meta, but I do put everything my time allows into my builds and do my best to be successful. Size: medium sized, preferably a gaming community. Its getting old jumping from small guild to small guild every few years when it's time to make a game swap. Hello, I have a small group in town that will be looking for the right guild to join. We have all played since the age of MUDs. Our best experiences in games have been highly social groups that have great leaders and are organized well. We have all traveled across the country to meet guild members and have all found life long friends. (We will bring them too!) Our core group is a trio of players - a killer, a master crafter, and a healer. We're all kinda old. We have jobs that get in the way of playing the 18 hours a day that we'd like to play - but we are great team players and very solid. I'll use the template I found here for our group Guild criteria: Region: East coast NA Atmosphere: mature and inclusive - building up the guild power and team Casual/Hardcore?: We used to be hardcore, but these old bones have made us step back a few steps. We like to get it done tho! Size: Large Play-Style: described above - usually see a ranged fighter, a warrior/crafter, a healer Commitment: We want to be able to play every day, but life could get in the way sometimes. I expect we will all spend more than 30 hours a week playing. Experience: We are mostly easy to get along with and provide some backup leadership in games we play. We know what it takes to run a successful guild, and we know that we dont have the time commitment to do it ourselves. We want to support the guild and help to make us as powerful and successful and famous as possible. We have played a LOT of MMOs - favorites: Dark Age of Camelot (made the most friends here!), EQ2, Warcraft, Asheron's Call Voice-Chat services: Anything you have, we can get it. No broken mics here. We'll see you guys on the 27th as well - looking forward to meeting lots of people! Tamshin jeff.foster at gmail / com

Guild criteria: Region: NA Atmosphere: I'm looking for an active guild that is interested in playing well. Casual/Hardcore?: I play hardcore when a game is out that I like. Generally I usually play between 15-30 hours a week depending on whats going on in-game. Play-Style: I generally play melee. I don't mind either dps, tank, support. Commitment: I will be committed to whatever guild I play with. Size: I would rather play with a smaller (20ish) group who is interested in disrupting supply lines and ganking farmers. About me: I'm 25 and live in Oregon currently. I move around the United States every few years for my job so timezone isn't really an issue. I have alpha 2 access. Feel free to ask me any other questions. Experience: DAOC: 2003-2005 WoW: 2005-2011 Warhammer: 2007-2008 Dota 2: 5k mmr CSGO: MGE rank Voice-Chat services: I'll use whatever the guild uses

Guild criteria: Region: NA Atmosphere: Breathable Casual/Hardcore: Hardcore Size: I wear an XL uniform at work. Need to lay off the Taco Bell. Play-Style: I like to take the offensive or provide support. Tanking isn't really my thing. I often forget what the block button is in fighting games... Commitment: My level of commitment depends on inspiration. I get bored easily. No sitting around and doing nothing for me thanks. Also, show a little charm. Make things interesting or at least amusing. Too serious and I'll get constipated... you won't like me when i'm constipated... Too lax and I'll grow too bored with the lack of drive and ambition others around me show. ;3 Experience: A little of this, a lot of that, something delicious and a little mystery wrapped in an enigma on white. Lightly toasted. Voice-Chat-services: I'm pretty sure I got everything, but currently loving Discord. Runs so nicely for me.About-me: I'm Cheshire, Revivalist, Pirate Queen, Outlaw Gandhi, BDO Mod, CTT3 of the USN, I've been and done many things. Today I'm just Cheshire though. I'm 27, love to drink and enjoy world cultures and delicious foods. Some people on the internet love me, some hate me and everyone has their own entitled opinion of me, even if they don't realize they know (of) me. My Ego is huge because I find it amusing to see how people react to it, not because I actually think i'm better than anyone. Again, some people love me, some people hate me. Which ever side of that fence you find yourself on, I'd still appreciate a PM either way. I do so love to meet new people in the world. ;D
