    Thoughts and Ideas on Faction Play

    Original poster is EXACTLY right. Without some form or realm differences or unique structures etc...Its absolutely pointless. Its a broken system to somehow try to 'control' random ganking. As it stands right now you just stare at the emblem, click one and hope its on the "balanced' side of things number wise. I'm gonna say it again and again and hope the devs are listening. Right now we have a crafting simulator that in no way shape or form gives reason to war. You have areas being named after "people" that completely remove any type of LORE which is desperately needed. Race/classes that have nothing unique. Pads we stand on to somehow 'capture' and thats supposed to be fun. NOTHING NEW SO FAR IS IN CROWFALL, -NOTHING. As for you being scared to post anything "negative" about the game, I cant blame you. I'm not scared of the devs as I feel they WANT open feedback. (heck its on the log-out screen everytime you log out of the game) But I do see your fear as 70% of these remaining testers are either fanboi's or CRAFTERS. I've got my fingers crossed and Todd is my favorite Dev/creator of all time. But this game needs to make some serious serious hard right turns if its truely going to capture us old PvPers.

    Thoughts and Ideas on Faction Play

    Just one crows opinion. Not trying to say anything negative about the current game. The game is shaping up very nicely and I am enjoying the pvp when found outside of timed siege play. Here are a few items that I feel could enhance specifically Faction play. Most of this has been done in DAOC which is where my main experience comes from. Again this is just my thoughts. They may have addressed all of this to everyone’s satisfaction already. If so. Great! 1) One thing that made RvR great was ‘Realm Pride’. The idea that Midgard, Albion or Hibernia were the mortal enemy. They weren’t your friends, pals, compadres. They wanted to harm you. The phrase “RED IS DEAD” was popular in the beginning. I’d like to see a reason to play one faction over the other. What makes Chaos unique? Order? Balance? (I’m not good with actual suggestions) Perhaps a specific Realm ability? Item? Look? Buff? Something that sets them apart and obviously not game breaking. 2) Unique classes. I don’t feel anyone has ever come close to matching the true diversity DAOC provided. However, this all goes back to point #1. Something that makes them unique is needed. I know they are not going to change the design to add faction only classes. Here’s hoping that the discipline system will come close to making them unique. I have my doubts. 3) Unique fort design? Keep design? Besides just copy and paste and then slapping a banner on something make it unique. I believe I did see something from a while ago that eluded to this. Make areas unique to the factions as they claim areas, towers, camps, forts and keeps. 4) When a keep is claimed by a guild/faction. A warning of being attacked would be nice. A number of attackers would be even better. This was done many years ago so I imagine they have the tech to handle this one. This I feel would help drive PvP. Of course, making keeps worth protecting would have to be addressed. 5) I always enjoyed the keep sieges in DAOC. Everyone had a role. You were forced to go thru the gates. Stealthers and eventually with ladders tanks were able to climb walls at specific spots thus making defending those spots very important. 6) In DAOC you would get realm ranks as you pvp’d. In that game it would give a bit of extra dex, con, strength and a few abilities. I feel allowing us to get something for kills would be great besides the chance of loot. Then again once spirit bank is gone maybe that’s all that’s needed. Anyways just had a minute so these items came to mind among many others. I’m sure others have far better ideas. I just really enjoyed the RvR of DAOC and it seems to fit nicely with the nature of Faction play. Your thoughts?

    The seasonal victory point adjustment is fine but it will not fix the main issue with forts/outposts. They are not fun. 95% of fort/outpost game play is unopposed standing in a circle. I know a lot of info was released recently. Was this addressed at all?

    IMO Combat passive skill training should be about efficiency/durability and NOT have any kind of direct 1v1 player versus player damage improvements or reductions. My reasoning for this is simple - Veterans will already have enough advantages over new players through game familiarity, better crafted gear, previously exported campaign resources, better crafted vessels, and finally disciplines. That is already enough reasons to discourage a new player from joining this game years after it's released however with the right guild and dedication they can overcome those deficiencies. There is no reason to compound that concern with a mechanic that the new player feels that they can never "catch up" to Vets on. And yes, I have read about the Developer proposed Skill Tomes, but I believe those are a clumsy and unnecessary solution to address the core problem which is - why can a Veteran Player do/absorb more damage than me if all other gear is equal, simply because their account is older? Some examples of current combat tree passives that I think should be replaced: -Increase Weapon Damage by X% -Increase Maximum Health by X -Increase Critical Hit Chance by X% -Increase Critical Hit Damage by X% -Increase Attack Power when using weapon type X Some examples of current combat tree passives that I think are fine and great examples of using efficiency/durability: -Decrease resource cost when using X weapon type -Decrease durability loss when using X weapon/armor type Some random examples of new combat tree passives they could add to replace the power increasing ones: -Increase combat Siege weapon damage -Increase combat damage done/taken from monsters -Increase combat damage done/taken from Guard NPCs -Literally all of the current attack power/crit damage/crit chance stuff but applied to NPCs only I think this post will have a mixed reception based on some earlier threads I've seen touch on this subject, but here goes nothing. Change my mind.

    The entire point is that nobody can do anything by themselves; you need a team of people doing team things. It’s a a key tenet in the fact that is even a MMO (Massivly MULTIPLAYER online). This idea that you will be successful solo is a cancer. You won’t be, by design, able to dominate, succeed and in some instances even compete if you’re solo. It’s a not a moba, it’s not wow, it’s a MMORPG that’s focused on group pvp and group logistics.

    How many did they send to kill the bait last night? But hey they got me. And we got the other keep. Good times. Then we came back and killed this keeps tree as well, but they were faster on the planting of the new tree. Ahh well.

    It's the new crafting UI. They showed it off in an article or video, I don't remember exactly when. They were hoping to get it into 5.8, but it didn't make it. Basically, instead of having separate recipes for every subcomponent and having to switch around between them, you would have a recipe for a Mace, and the recipe would take you through all the steps, including the subcomponents, until you get to the finished product. If I can find where they talked about it, I'll link it.

    I explicitly like the point of the company clearly mentioning that there will have to be cutbacks from the original vision, if the game should be published within a timely manner. I always dislike if people/companies say they can do it ... and then they don't. Providing and establishing open communication is important in community-driven games and companies. It's the right thing to do. It may not always be what we want to hear. But it is what we need to hear. I can only hope that most of us heard it - and that those who didn't, will be told so by those who listened now. Anyways, in the end you will be able to say "we told you so". In my opinion, it was the right thing and the right time. So, thanks for that.

    One key thing I do not see mentioned in this vision is when the embargo system is expected to come online? Is that an Alpha milestone alongside Dregs, or some time else?

    When placing the new super sized castle, it won't let you place it actually on the ground. If you lower it so that it's touching the ground you get an error telling you it's too low. If you place it where it wants to be placed, it's too high to use and if you fiddle to get it to where you can jump onto the steps and get inside, you end up eyeballs deep in the floor, as demonstrated in this video: It looks good from a distance though

    Hopefully that is one of the things they fix, along with just making it easier to sacrifice in general. If I have 17,500 gold, I should be able to sacrifice it all at once to go from level 1 to 30, instead of having to separate the gold and interact with the brazier 29 separate times.

    Probably not new but, druid have a melee weapon slot (while not beeing able to use one) which prevents sickles from being considered a main hand weapon for passive training bonuses. I'm not sure how it works for stave users but sickle users are undoubtly wronged by this.

    You have 2 seconds from when the orbs go from green(only group visible/heals) to turning purple(visible to everyone/explosion) to get out of the small range. This should be plenty of time to move. Due to a bug the purple orbs appear after the explosion. 2 seconds really should be enough time to block, dodge, leap, and or ultimate to get out/mitigate the explosion.

    I agree. This would allow traders, crafters, gatherers to help contribute to score in some manner. If one faction gathered and crafted their butts off to sacrifice the world, but did poorly at holding objectives should they not also reap some of the gods favor? Would also help economy by being another resource/money sink like leveling vassals. To curb exploiting campaign score from gold imports I propose not allowing gold imports into a campaign(export only), but allowing gold EK imports/exports #MakeSacrificeGreatAgain

Hoy por hoy esa es la gran diferencia. Voy a plantear esa inquietud en la próxima reunión de equipo. si tienen mas sugerencias serían de gran ayuda.

    get a little bit of farsight stat and u can see alot further, elven eyes for example is another 22m, then u can get rings that add 10+ aswell each.

    View distance and specifically nameplate distance isn't very far in this game. Also in the Spirit Bank meta ganking groups have to be particularly good at catching people by surprise. Whatever group killed you might have approached in such a way to minimize your reaction time.

    HAH! That’s hilarious. I would think most PvPers want reasonably fair fights, where the player with the most mechanical skill / better decision making wins, but I do wonder about some of this community.

    I personally wouldnt mind since combat stuff could be moved to the active skill tree. That said, this aint ever gonna fly 'round here. People these parts are the kind who wants every bit of edge -- even if they dont need it, and even if it makes for boring general gameplay. "If I wanted fair fights I would play a MOBA!" -- Wait for it. You will hear something similar...

    There is a lot of research and trial/error when you are testing a pre-alpha game. Take this experience as a sign and indication of current development, you will encounter other things that annoy you or break your gameplay with your buddy. You may not want to actually try and enjoy the game for what it is yet if you are not down to test and help squash bugs. Threatening an Indy developer with "GJ, I'm going to go play some other, more popular and successful game" after playing their not-even-released-yet game (after downloading and acknowledging via somewhere around 3 different prompts within game and on the download page that the game is in pre-alpha and not a fully functioning game) for the lack of attention you and your buddy had is kinda unfair.

    This game wasn't just announced and interested people showed up to test what we got. This game was announced to be a niche pvp game and many of us threw down hundreds or thousands of dollars to back that concept to make it reality. The confusion here is people coming later, with this "we all want to see this game succeed" argument, when all they have done is throw down the $50 to buy the game early and then ask for changes that are not good for this game's direction. Just no. Stop. If you missed what this game was crowdfunded and then marketed as, go brush up. Just might not be the game for you.

    what other games have you played where .. You dont need to level up to craft .. You dont need to go get your materials to craft.. You can just open up a store and have people come to your empty wagon to buy stuff. Sorry but if it was easy to get then people would just get it them selves and say custard your store. Just saying..

    Underdog bonus for Campaign Scoring

    its not gonna fix the issue Arkade, expecialy if one side is super outnumbered since they wont have the players to take a juicy keep and all that. My suggestion would be to also add score system from kills where killing players grant score if you kill somone from a faction ahead of you. So in OP senario where chaos is leading they wont get score from kills however Balance will get score from killing Chaos and Order will get score for killing anyone since there both beating Order. This also means that the leader has 2 faction aiming for them for extra kill points and balance would have order, and order wouldnt be too focused since they arnt worth point to anyone else atm so they get a little bit of reprieve from open world PvP and potential less target to take forts from since if there a fight you potentialy giving them points if you die where they wont be giving you points

    i wouldnt be surprised if they nerfed it, itll most likely make druid even more watered down
