    Uncle Bob via Mega Alliance?

Hey gang, let's take a quick walk down memory lane. WAY, WAY back in Shadowbane beta (I’m guessing this was 2002?) we had an interesting thing happen. Our testing community was heavily guild-focused; teams from UO and new groups were waging war and building cities and sieges were happening and, in spite of the bugs, the game was kind of working. Guilds were going at each other, vying for domination of the Aerynth, the Shadowbane world. And then, one day, the fighting just stopped. A couple of the top guilds decided that, instead of fighting each other, they would work together in a big mega-alliance. They had enough manpower and enough skill to take over the server. That guild was called the Rolling 30s, led by a guy named Bone Dancer, and they did a pretty good job of locking the server down for a while. I'm looking at the state of the Trials of Malekai campaigns, and one of them looks strangely familiar. So, I have a few thoughts. First: if the game literally gets to a point where it is mathematically unwinnable, we can always end it early. This is testing, and the goal of testing is to (1) find bugs and (2) learn things so that we can iterate over the design. If we hit a point in this campaign – or any campaign – where we aren’t learning anything useful, then we can (and will) shut it down and move on to the next test. Second: while I know this can be aggravating, I want to make it clear that this isn’t a player problem; it’s a design problem. And it’s not an unknown out-of-nowhere design problem, either… as I said, I’ve seen this before. One of the major reasons that we pushed off the First Sanctioned campaign is because we didn’t have a rewards system in place that would help keep this from happening (the other major reason, of course, was performance.) Will the reward system absolutely fix it? No, probably not… but it will certainly help. Right now, the reward system is about as simplistic as a reward system can be: players on the winning team get a gold badge, everyone else gets silver. EVERYONE gets the badge. So, it really shouldn’t be a shock that players are working together to get the gold… because why wouldn’t they? A better solution, and one that we’re in the process of implementing, uses a combination of Multi-Vector Rewards and Reward Scarcity. I was holding off on discussing this because I wanted to lock the rewards down first, but it seems like a number of people are concerned, so let’s go ahead and talk about it now. Reward scarcity is just that. If every person competing at the Olympics could get a gold medal just by holding hands with their fellow participants, we’d see a lot of gold medals and a lot less competition. So, step one is to limit the number of players who can earn any given reward. On top of that, we need to have Multi-Vector Rewards; not just a single “do-this-one-thing-and-only-this-one-thing-to-win” rule because single vector problems are the easiest to game (and as I noted above, this reward system is about as simple as it gets). So, here’s an example of a better reward structure (and it’s JUST an example): 1. Gold medal for the top 20 players in the winning faction 2. Gold medal for the top 20 individual contributors across all factions, in killing/captures/harvest/craft Even this super-simple example is better than the “everyone hold hands” model we have on ToM… and more vectors, with varying levels of enforced scarcity, would be even better because it drives players to have to make hard choices to “win”. Between now and First Sanctioned, we’ll be spending a lot of time working through the rewards design to help offset this behavior – and once we have more players (and more campaigns running) that will certainly help, as well. (Dregs will, too, because guilds are more willing to form alliances than they are to form “mega-guilds” as that requires giving up their guild identity.) As I said, if the situation on any Campaign gets bad enough, if the game literally gets to a point where it is mathematically unwinnable (i.e. another variant of the dreaded Uncle Bob Scenario) then we will end the Campaign and put up a new one, making whatever adjustments we can. I know I could probably step in and ask the main guilds right now to stop holding hands and fight each other… but I’m not going to do that, because it would skew the test and any learning we might take from that test would be flawed. The simple fact is: our design needs to stand up to actual player behavior, not player-behavior-when-we-ask-them-to-play-how-we-want-them-to. Once we launch, we can’t expect players to treat our design with “kids gloves” just because we asked them nicely. I know that it can be really frustrating to test an unfinished game, and for that I can only say: I get it, I hear you. All I can offer in response is: we’re watching, we’re learning, and we will continue to do the best we can to adjust and iterate as quickly as possible. Thanks for sticking with us as we work through these issues.

In the current NA campaign, if you're Order or Chaos (or maybe even Balance to some degree), there is still a lot to be gained that truly matters. Shiny badge at the end of the Trial? Unimportant. The skill score at the top of the screen? Unimportant. I understand this can be demoralizing, and it is, I will grant you. Trying to level a vessel or harvesting in a zone that's supposed to be yours, and having a roaming band of enemy foes come in and crush you kills the mood--it's happened to me several times today, so I do understand again the frustration. Let me try to convince you why you should still saddle up anyways. The adage that steel sharpens steel, is that you need an equally (or greater) skilled opponent to sharpen your own skills. Say what one will about the guilds on Balance, but I think it's fair to say they have a solid grasp on how to play, and what compositions work, and where they work. I know Chaos has these guilds too. So let me tell you about TRA's night tonight. 1.) We tried a bit of a meme strategy (which we will refine and return to the battlefield), which rather completely failed. 2.) We took a more standard approach, by snagging a fort and waiting, inviting some fine Balance guests to come visit. They did, and we died. 3.) Running around the maps, we stumbled up some Balance bois again, and again, died. So why tell you about a night of combat losses? As it's often said, you learn more in a loss, than a win--and tonight we did. We learned what in our composition worked, and what doesn't work--perhaps more importantly, we gained a greater understanding of where it did, and where it doesn't work. We learned strength and weakness of what we brought to the field. We gained insight into us as players, and how we each need to improve in various aspects. Tonight's losses are going to make us better players, and a better guild. So if you're a guild, no matter your size, and you look at the score, I invite you to ignore it. The shiny token at the end of the rainbow? Ignore it. Use your gold, buy some non-basic white materials at the temple merchants if your guild is hurting on resources, and gear up. Get firsthand knowledge of what classes work well together. Let other people in your guild shot call. Try new compositions. Most importantly, I suppose, is have FUN. I know that three letter word is a four letter word around these parts, but it really is important. If your guild is feeling the doom-and-gloom, go have a meme night. Do something a little silly. Not finding someone to fight is not going to make you any better. Gear up, get on your comms, and go bloody the soil. Even if you get rolled like we did, I will guarantee you--you will learn something, you'll get in good fights, and you might even have fun. So take heart! If you're on Order, come fight with us! If you're not on Order, I'll sure you'll be fighting us soon enough.

Browsing around, from what I can tell, a lot of you are: 1. Upset cause you're on the losing end. 2. Defending being on the winning end. and a lot of you are just 3. Whiny toddlers. Anytime the word guild is even mentioned in a game, they forge alliances and make enemies. It's just how it goes. Next campaign some of 'em are probably gonna stab each other in the back anyway when there's no reward to work for so the factions will most likely even back out after a few short campaigns. Several of you have legit ideas and arguments which is great, but most of you are just ticked that you're either on the losing end or a guild you figured would help your faction win left for the guild alliances. All over an imaginary golden reward or whatever. Y'all are acting like you're being cheated out of $1,000,000. It's sad. The problem here really seems to be the guild alliances. Wanna get rid of them? Give the guilds a reason to fight each other. Player individual rewards are great, but top guild rewards would probably take care of that even faster. Granted, we are in pre alpha and there isn't a lot of big, coordinated guilds yet, but you have to look beyond that. Where are we gonna be at launch? New players come in, new guilds, new skillsets, ect.. Get a good number of guilds and competitive players and boom. Faction tier rewards, Guild tier, then player tier. Rewards for teamwork and rewards for solo. The top player isn't necessarily going to be in the top guild, and the top guild may not necessarily be in the top faction. Everyone gets a fair shot. But seriously, if we're gonna be this insulted over a gold badge, then we need to rethink our life priorities and we're probably just not ready for rewards yet.

@jtoddcoleman There was no mega-alliance. You got fooled by the spin on the forums and a deliberate attempt to delegitimize the campaign. The first siege of the NA campaign, which caused Chaos to quit competing, involved 37 Winterblades beating 60+ Chaos. We could not have brought a zerg if we wanted to, because with 60+ chaos in their zone, it was impossible to even bring matching numbers due to the zone cap. We had to fight alone, as a guild, outnumbered. Despite what some people said, it was a close fight. At the end it was a race between the defenders killing the last bane tree and the attackers killing the tree. The siege could have gone either way. And then a vocal minority of Chaos players took to the forums to win the war there. They lied about Balance outnumbering everyone. They stopped trying to capture points because a run-away score supported their message. If they started capturing anything and closed the gap in the score, that would contradict their narrative. I am sad to see it worked. Please watch the video of the siege that broke Chaos' will, and how the "big mega-alliance" that won it consisted of one guild fighting alone and outnumbered. I do applaud your looking into implementing reward scarcity. Many of us have been suggesting that for years.

"Try harder" - Winterblades "You're actually really good, stop trying harder and come join balance with us" - Also Winterblades I have immense respect for both of these guilds but call a spade a spade man. You know good and well that you stacked the best assemblage of players and econ on the server deliberately to squelch competition. You know good and well that one member of this assemblage is worth 3 average players in the current state of testing. You're good, and you removed one of the few real existing obstacles to your dominance by choosing to ally with rather than compete with them. That's why you did it. You played the ruleset well, you gamed the system well. You're playing to crush and there's nothing wrong with that, but your two guilds deliberately made an alliance to remove the ability of your enemies to perform better in order to gain the reward. Given the same scenario, population, resources, and skill level of guild members I would do the exact same thing. The only difference is I wouldn't be attempting to spin it as anything other than a blatant power grab for cool loot.

speaking for me and my guild : this week-end people from the US campagne come into the EU and it's hard for us : they got more stuff, more training, some of them come on our side, and we can see that they are just better. As we are speaking of campaign, they are king of boring outside the keep window, we got 2 main issues : - new people doesn't found it fun ( we got 5 new guys on our discord, and they all play only 1 day ) : they are killed near the keep or the fort when farming some first stuff. - fighting to defend a fort is almost not an option on EU, we are just not enought and it's just too easy to run away to an other fort. with currrent bugs like - physics bugs like orbs that fall from the walls, tornado or druid ult that almost kill a full group with fall dommage - skill shot that miss targets - people cannot be unmount with dammage or stun. - fort's wall dont block many people. - we were not able to use our ballista and with current design : - no balancing between classes ( when a dommage dealer class deal less than a tank it's a balancing problem ) - the map that is not fair ( some faction got only r9 and some got all the r10 ) - fort are too easy to rebuild, when someone take it, 30 secondes latter they go elsewhere Good point are : - fight have less lag - fight have more fps

JTC: As someone who remembers fondly those days of fighting Bone Dancer and the Burning Legion/R30s in Shadowbane Beta, I fully appreciate the reference. Back in those halcyon days, those who felt they were getting steamrolled didn't ask for early server resets or for the big dog to break apart. Quite the contrary. We built Akalabethia aka "Alphabet City" and withstood the thundering horde and beat them at their own game. Steel sharpens steel. Those with the gumption to fight, do so. While there are certainly some in Crowfall who have taken their balls and fled for more European pastures, there are others willing to stand up and actually challenge the big dogs of the current Trials of Malekei. My hope is that you make no rash decisions concerning the existing life of this test. Give the players an opportunity to fight it out. While 7 groups of -W- did take the Chaos keep from 12 groups of Chaos...that doesn't necessarily mean that that will continue every night for the next two weeks (it was certainly dicey at the end). Order has certainly shown the tenacity worthy of those early Shadowbane days...and my hope is that Chaos will do the same. In any respect, I appreciate the insights with regard to your rewards incentives and look forward to meeting the challenge.

I tend to agree here, what about the farmers, crafters, and the other support doing the busy work for those that focus on PVP. Should be guilds or something else that determines rewards besides capture points.

I have had a number of great conversations with Order lately regarding build ideas and theory crafting. I want to work with people so that we can all continue to get those PvP fights that we enjoy.

im a solo/small group player on balance 3 people at most, and after getting this shiny gold badge i will be swapping factions to whoever has the least players. This campaign i decided to learn confessor and made a blue vessel with green armor and a blue book all mats i gathered/traded myself and with the help of some friendly crafters made a formidable character, and testing what discs work, how to properly use the confessors inherent advantages to my own and avoid its pitfalls has been incredibly fun and while ive certainly been beat up by players i outgeared at first i can feel my progress with it vastly grow each day with the 1Vxs in particular teaching the most, but i want more fights and balance isnt giving me that, so assuming order stays the least populated ill be joining you on the battlefield as soon as this campaign is over, a shiny reward is nice and all but the fights, the successful 1v4's and the zerg escapes, and the completely embarrassing cliff falls mid fight are what make the game fun, not a shiny gold badge that will probably be nothing more then a low tier accessory on live after a month

Another disingenuous argument by Jah in a desperate attempt to save face. The "game" is about numbers and experience right now. This game is far from complete, there are a lot of features missing that add nuance to the game that could possibly help you beat a stronger foe. Right now we brute force everything in this game. The largest cooperative force is going to have more "brute force" than the rest. You get too hung up on numbers because its the only objective fact you have on paper that supports your narrative. Begging JTC to confirm your number in his logs reeks of desperation. What you are doing is nothing different than someone going on TV and giving a set of statistics supporting their position while ignoring all the other evidence. Winterblades treats the player-base like we are a bunch of idiots, thinking we can't see right through your disingenuous "facts". There is a word for what you are doing and its called "cherry picking". Take a sample of player gear on each guild and faction and assign each quality color a number value. You are going to find out quickly that the balance faction on average has a higher score, and that score will increase even more when you break it down by guild in the favor of Winterblades, HoA, and Sugoi. I can point out statistical points in our favor all day long because statistics are used to lie. Not long ago on these very forums, Angelmar was speaking about Winterblades being stewards for server health. Can you honestly say the server is healthy right now? What was the most egregious change that tipped the balance (no pun intended)? Answer the questions objectively and the answer will be clear that you guys acted in your own interests over server health. I know you guys care about the game, but that doesn't preclude you from taking a misstep. When you speak internally you guys know you messed up and were a bit hasty in this move. Why keep doubling down in public and further smear your image? The damage its doing to you is not worth it for a pre-alpha game. Have an honest discussion Jah and stop trying to refute everything as part of your damage control. Answer the questions.

@jtoddcoleman As I had previously suggested the game needs a selfbalancing system based on scarcity of resources and Hunger. If the player chooses to go to the numerous side he needs to know that it will be more difficult to get the resources and food because he will have to share with his allies. Minor guilds / factions will have stronger players because they will have more resources available that will not be split among many players. This is basic self-balancing based on the system that creates hunger/poverty in the real world. Unfortunately many players want to play on the more comfortable side, but that ends the fun of everyone in the end. Stop thinking this is a utopian world where players go to the weaker side just to give a fight to the winners. No one wants to be on the losing side.

its impossible to measure who the best crafter is or gatherer is, you can tally up the total kills made by X players weapons in the hands of others but what if the most skilled only crafts for himself? and what about gathering, is the guy who only gathered what he needed in 1 hour worse then the guy who took 10 hours to gather what he needed but gathered so much more? these things are impossible to measure and we shouldnt try to waste our time with something that cant be measured. PvP is another thing, and honestly one of the few things eso has ever done right as an mmo, theyre alliance point system(pvp points basically) allowed me as a healer, 1vXer, blaze tank, interruption tank, glass cannon ganker, and zerg bomber to succeed and climb the rankings with time and effort frequently reaching the top 10 in my faction as several different builds and roles, crowfall should adopt a system more like that then the current afk outpost capping meta we have, sure there are leeches in that system who get one hit on someone and get ap they didnt earn or players stealthing into keeps and sitting there until someone else caps it for them and getting a share of the gathered ap but the best still rise to the top fairly easily unlike what we have now where on chaos there are frequently players with 0 kills and very few assists in the top 10

You logged off and let us capture the map. Order is indeed a much smaller faction than both Balance and Chaos in this campaign. Balance and Chaos had similar populations, but Order was significantly smaller. Your guild leaving Order and switching to the largest faction, Chaos, played a role in that. The Winterblades does have a gear advantage, as a result of playing the game as intended. We spent the many hours required to compete over harvesting resources and craft good gear. But that doesn't seem to be what the thread is about.

@jtoddcoleman If two 20/35 man guilds can ally together and break the game then that’s a community problem. People refusing to make alliances and farm on par with the top guilds is your community being lazy and entitled; no mechanic is going to change that. This whole drama started because people who didn’t wanna contribute as much got mad that their work horse left them for better allies. Your organized veteran players are playing in a handful of guilds and have a huge knowledge avantage combined with a division of labor and an efficient chain of command. The larger established guilds of two + years ago are mostly gone. Sugoi and the UDL/LoD alliance have quit playing (for legitimate reasons) and it’s caused a power vacuum that the community has failed to fix. I’m down for reward scarcity, I’m not down for rewarding mediocre behavior and second rate players.

Balance was not the largest faction. Chaos had more people than Balance on both the first night of the campaign, and the second night when the first siege happened. Any campaign is unwinnable when people stop trying to win it. The imbalance in the score right now is a direct result of chaos giving up as soon as they lost the first siege.

Well pardon me if I am wrong, I would like to point out what mandalore mentioned With the healers being a group based class, sure the winning faction gets stuff, and the top players doing stuff gets stuff (most of em can kill in comparison with healers). To space the distribution of big guilds, why not have rewards to top 5 guilds or something in each faction along with the rewards mentioned above. This should cover almost all of the healers or people playing the support classes. I mean they are classes that mainly focus on group play and most groups are guild based from what I have seen. What do you guys think?

Your head is still in the sand I see. You still don't understand why "people could stop worrying about cosmetic reward" doesn't resonate coming from one of the guilds that conspired to ensure they would get the cosmetic reward. It takes a lot of intellectual dishonesty on your part (W/HoA) to not admit that maybe the move you guys did was not in the best interest of the game at this very moment. The bottom line in any game is if people feel like they aren't getting a fair shake in a video game they will simply quit. If you refuse to at least acknowledge that this is fundamental human nature then you are completely lost in your own confirmation bias.

Mr. Coleman, I want to thank you for allowing me to participate and test Crowfall. This is the best money I have ever spent on a pre-release game. The value I have received for my initial investment cannot be calculated. I have made friends and frenemies that go all the way back to Grey-box Hunger Dome, and I can see the ride is just getting started with all the salt and sand getting thrown around over the Trials of Malekai. Also I think it was very generous of you to reward the winners and the losers of ToM with a 2% crit badge for helping you test Crowfalls first rewards campaign. And I will be on every night ready to test combat and rewards systems until you have the data points you need from this campaign. Most corporations making games don’t give their customers Jack poorly made socks, and sometimes they don’t even release the game itself. However; I am not convinced that a lot of time and energy needs to be invested in a complicated (or fair) rewards system over top of the embargo system. The real value of Campaigns ls tied to the embargo mechanic. This is where faction and campaign loyalty will have the biggest impact, and it will be a house of contention based on what I am witnessing on this thread. Yours in Crowfall, Corvax

People all jumped ship for the sake of the colour of the badge. How about you give everyone who competed a blue, the top 20 on each faction a purple and if you are on the winning team it gets upgraded to gold. This should get people going back to their factions to be in the top 20 and having a chance to get the best looking one. Will also promote continued fighting to stay in the top 20 instead of letting it slip away to us night cappers. Will also need to work on the scoring system to accommodate for people who don’t fight at all but build gear for everyone else to fight.

Agreed 100 percent Scree. We are not asking for intervention. I would like to see this play out over multiple campaigns so we can get some good data and feedback to the developers. I'm getting whining PM's from people now saying, "you tricked JTodd into believing something that is not true". Nobody is trying to pull the wool over JTC eyes. There is a political element at play here shaming two dominant guilds for stacking the odds in their favor at a time when they probably shouldn't have done it. The collective strength of every one else cannot win a war (not be be confused with battle) against the Sugoi/HoA/W alliance at this point. We are working to get some momentum built but you can't just speak results into existence, this will take time. I also agree with Scree on the rewards system. Individual success is not the way to go with rewards. From my personal point of view I like to play multiple characters (pvp/crafter/farmer) and it would punish someone like me more. For the dregs that is a non starter for me. I want to help my team win, and if we win I want rewards.

Power Efficiency skills don't do anything: I assume this is supposed to be 1.5%, but it doesn't add anything to my Power Efficiency stat, or any other stat related to it. I have 24% power efficiency from the Knight's Tactical Mastery talent, and that's all that displays in the character sheet: As you can see in this screenshot, the cap on Power Efficiency is 25%, and I'm almost at the cap with just that 1 talent. There are a total of 6 skill nodes that give power efficiency (while using a sword...it may vary for other weapons) between the Weapons, Melee and One Hand Melee trees. If each of these skill nodes is intended to give 1.5% Power Efficiency, that is a total of 9%, but when combined with Tactical Mastery, I would never get the full benefit of it due to the cap. If I spec Sentinel, I can get another 15% Power Efficiency and Power Efficiency Cap, but that doesn't fix the issue with the skills not working and generally being useless when combined with Tactical Mastery. The Kinetic Boost ability (Force Mage) says it increases Power Efficiency by 20%, but it actually reduces weapon weight by 20. This is a good thing since if it actually did what it said, it would be useless when combined with Tactical Mastery, but the tooltip should be updated to reflect that. The Candle That Burns ability (Human) says that it increases Power Efficiency by 5%, but it actually reduces it by 5%.That may be an intended offset to the damage bonus, but it needs to be properly reflected in the tooltip. These stat caps really need to be looked at as they are far too limiting in many cases. I understand that you want people to be able to hit the caps in a variety of ways, but they are currently too restrictive. It shouldn't be so easy to hit the caps.

hi, i will give you my personal opinion about the current state of the game: I bought the game (50euro) back in 2015/2016 because i liked the idea/vision of crowfall with the campaignsystem. I see my money still as an investment in a gameidea and was aware that the game needs a lot of time to get done back than. Am i enjoying the game right now?, the answer is NO, do i playtest the game frequently now? the answer is NO. Do i recomment the game to my friends in its current state now? the answer is NO. BUT i still think crowfall can be a good game but it is simply not ready yet (not even close i would say), it will need still a lot of time and effort to get the game where it needs to be for a launch and to be labled as a good game which is functional and playable. If you want to buy in, buy in for the vision and not for the current state of the game, because it is not good game to play at the moment in my opinion. When you are willing to test and give feedback to the devs go ahead, but if you want a good game to play and enjoy right now, i would wait at least 6-12 months because it needs a lot of work and i personally dont enjoy it as a game right now (to many things arent working, so i will wait on the sideline until the work is done, before i get burned out on the game because of endless testing seesions pre release). My release prediction: somewhere in 2020 for a good quality launch because of major and minor issues and content lack, and based on development progress from the past and we are already close to march and we arent even in alpha state (patch 6.0), so time is fliyng already. Just my 2 cents, have a nice day !

    Uncle Bob via Mega Alliance?

@jtoddcoleman You can see some examples of the spin, and the people who were pushing it, above. Most of them are in the same guild, a guild that recently picked up several ex-Winterblades who clearly have bitter feelings about their former guild. /who faction 15 minutes before the first siege of NA Trials of Malekai: Balance: Chaos: /who zone for each faction present at the siege that broke Chaos' will: Balance: Chaos: @jtoddcoleman Do you have server logs that would confirm these numbers?

    Uncle Bob via Mega Alliance?

Todd already did it in his post. 1. Gold medal for the top 20 players in the winning faction 2. Gold medal for the top 20 individual contributors across all factions, in killing/captures/harvest/craft This stops guilds from joining forces and creating a mega alliance because: not everyone in the winning faction gets a gold medal, and/or you don't have to be in the winning faction to get one. It's just an example, but it's not far off from being a good change.

    Uncle Bob via Mega Alliance?

Disagree. The system is literally designed in a way that it is beneficial to do this; it isn't a player problem, it's a design problem. If there's a better or more rewarding way of doing something, that's how it'll be done. That's what we saw this trial, and that's why the design must be changed.

my old friend from the days of Hunger dome, do not despair. A cold wind is blowing from the north, and they cannot freeze the wolves that are coming in it's wake.

    Dead shroud

Yes, it is should be. But current implementation is quite bad. I'd suggest remake it. Start countdown right after you release your crow. Show counter while in crow form. It is really boring to get back and respawn inside the enemy without any chance to survive. Also debuff should be consistent coz current relog/going through teleport things is very poor design.

    Dead shroud

Death should be impactful and shroud provides that impact, but the RNG aspect of where your crow ends up adding on top the fixed time of the debuff is painful. I also agree that being able to get a free pass clearing that penalty by relogging is a bad choice. There was talk on one of the dev streams about a completely different death mechanic that sounded like a much better solution, but in the mean time it would be nice if the death shroud debuff was a consistent time no matter what the circumstances and that it persists on log.

I mean, people have been mentioning the need for a faction balance incentive since factions have existed in CF. This isn't a new problem, and some of the people being slammed on the forums have been very vocal advocates for it. To all the people maligning Balance at the moment, most of them Chaos it seems, I have been playing on Balance for more than a year now, and almost all of 2018 Balance essentially might not have existed - pretty much after Sugoi guild leaders and lots of their people stopped playing and my club/sub-guild of Sugoi basically quit also - Balance was just a sideshow that struggled to get even a 5 man group and when we did UDL or HoA or WB would soon double or treble our numbers to put us down. For my part, I mainly settled with just being a spoiler and custard with the big groups. QQ I don't really recall these same Chaos people sharing their heartfelt concern and apologies for me and my Balance brethren while we were constantly outnumbered week-in week-out. The simple explanation for that is most folks are just full of poorly made socks. The rest of the people complaining are just new and have zero perspective and context to the bigger picture and history of Crowfall Pre-alpha. The reality is, folks expecting other players they don't even know in real life to *provide* them with a good time is hogwash. Grow up you children. I never expected Chaos or Order to provide me with a good time and fair fights in 2018, it was just the hand I was dealt, and I did my best to create new Balance guild alliances to give me a chance for content. The other reality is that ACE could have prevented this but they didn't, because I don't think they care or are overly concerned at this point. They are heads down working on v5.9 so that the sanctioned campaign can happen. These Trials campaigns are just a distraction to keep people busy until then. J Todd almost said as much during the livestream, but I have paraphrased.

    Incentive to even out factions

I would agree that one of the best ways to counter zerging for a win is to force the winners to fight among themselves over the distribution of the spoils of war. Any mechanic where you get more rewards by having more people on the winning side encourages zerging. Take the current rewards for example. Every member of the winning side gets the gold sigil. The more people on the winning side, the more gold sigils are awarded. The spoils of war are actually multiplied by the number of winners with that mechanic. Compare this to a situation where there is a finite reward that must be distributed among the winners. It would be more difficult to keep a coalition together if the distribution seemed unfair to some of the participants, and if there aren't enough rewards to go around there will be conflict. That conflict destabilizes zerg forces. It encourages people to break off and try to control the distribution of spoils themselves.

We Pre Alpha and while it is in this Stage .. all Rewards should , one Color ,be Silver or Gold dont count ...we clearly see on both side EU and NA that any better looking Reward destroy Balance ... how many Balance Player are actually on Eu ? maybee 10 ....and NA Order ... looks like same for me ... i have not seen a Hand Full hanging arround ... befor making Rewards that are diffrent ..there should be something like locked campaigns ( cant switch NA/EU ) and a little Balance .. Guild A joins Order ... HP says 50 member ..so nobody goes to order untill chaos and balance have the same Amount And thats is no MeMe ... i know that guys that run behind Gold Symbols like Hyena will mark this Post as a MeMe Post ... to make themselve feel better ..

Silly Rabbit, games die after an actual launch,.not when testing mechanics in a pre-alpha state. Get a grip... faction play won't be the primary game. Class balance will be done in Beta after all classes (Frostweaver) have been added. How can you possibly complain like this during testing, are you that ignorant of game development? Crowfall® has not yet launched and is currently in pre-alpha testing. The game is still in development with new skills, features, and content coming online regularly. Are your expectations that content and mechanics are magically working, balanced and bug free when added? really?

I think they want us to test the new scoring points with the Capture Bonus x Seasonal Multipliers in Fall and Winter to see how it works over a longer campaign. How can we test a catch-up mechanic if everyone quits on day 1? Friendly reminder that we are testers

"Fair fights" are just a way for second place to complain about not winning. Playing a game for the sake of playing it is altruism imo. When I get in a fight I'm not worried about it being fair, I'm worried about keeping my teeth and I plan to win. I have the words "First There" tattooed on my left forearm (wrist to elbow), it's a statement that means a lot to me. These kind of philosophical conversations are fun to me. I get that my perspective is an outlier so it's always fun to see what other people think.
