How can I say this,.. I really don't care about you spending time on a new feature when a lot of older ones don't even work properly. As I previously said in another post do thing step by step instead of making a castle of cards.

Side note for @jtoddcoleman As the god of Trickery and deception, Its really appropriate that the gold version of Malekai's sigil is the reward for all this, all things considered. I Think Malekai would approve of how this is all turning out.

This is what the map looked like the first morning of the campaign. All forts held by balance, almost all camps held by balance, and you know what a slog it is trying to cap those by yourself, not to mention I was there when you swept the first couple of forts, and I saw how the current best/cheat builds with the knight blocking bugs (now removed) were being used. So what in that behavior and results would lead me to believe that anything other than the above layout of the map would greet us every single morning that could possibly make it worth even bothering? It's not just one keep fight, it's the totality of the situation.

Because we won all three sieges on the first day, completely dominating both other factions. Just because you guys won one fight with 40v60 or whatever really doesn't change the fact that the power level of Balance in this campaign is very disproportionate to the other factions.

Spirit Bank Abuse Remaining in 5.8.3

I'm going to laugh uproariously after you all gripe and moan about not being able to steal what you didn't earn, they finally remove spirit bank....and you get nothing, because your target destroyed everything rather than see you get it.

    Ranger feedback

Ok I did add your return in my post. @Lowlander Honestly as the passive "Glee ful strike" give more than expected on all your capacities both are balancing each other. @Samulus I think the two charges on the ultimate is deliberate. I did not play the warden enough to have feedback on it, so yours are welcome. I agree with you that endurance management is really different depending on the specialization chosen. However, I don't understand how the support power can be valuable on ranger.

    Durability is Over the Top

Yea sure, but it would be a total waste of good materials. You can choose to bump the combat stats, OR the durability, on most items. IF you did bump the durability, you would get a blue set of gear, with the same stats as a white set of gear, just with more durability. Given the ease of access to white compared to blue, it would be a total waste of blue materials. You would be better off making two sets of white, to one set of blue, and getting the same total durability that way. In fact, White is more likely to get durability, because with white you will have more pips available than you can use, so you will max out the durability rows AND the combat buff stat rows. Basically, the higher the quality of the gear, the less likely you will have "spare" pips to push into durability. Personal opinion. Durability pips should be "free", or a seperate training line in the passives that does not come into the choice equation, because frankly pushing durability pip instead of anything else available is just a trap.

    You can do better !

"You can do better!" is not particularly constructive feedback. What exactly should they be doing differently that they aren't doing now? Your story seems to suggest you expect to be able to jump into *and reasonably compete to win* PVP combat while playing solo and without investing really much or any time into your character's progression. Those aren't reasonable expectations, I would say. Crowfall is not an FPS or MOBA that you can just queue up a match and engage in some quick and dirty PVP fights. It's meant to be a long-term, campaign-driven combat between organized groups (guilds, alliances, factions, etc.)

    Excellent fights order

We all put up a much better fight last night, than we did a few nights previous. Each fight is giving us a chance to look at where we did well, and what we need to improve on. I look forward to more good fights, and learning all the more from them.

    Things to be changed asap!

1 - mounts need to be addressed. the cast is way to quick and casting it in combat with dizzy immune from harvesting is op. 2. Spirit bank needed to be fixed before I started playing because as you say theres no risk at the moment and no profit to actually fighting over resources/ganking. 3. This is an interesting idea but not sure if its a step in the right direction or not. i honestly havn't thought about it so I dont know. 4. fixing the looting system should be easy enough since they have already implemented some systems in other area's such as player graves which have a white outline when hovering over one. also with cats and that the loot option vanishes when there is no loot. 5. I agree and I think an easy option is to add bonuses to smaller factions that get bigger with a smaller population. none of the bonuses should be directly affecting pvp or resource gathering. The bonuses could be simple as more capture points and turn points for smaller factions, more exp earned. things like this. this a quick clip of the dizzy immune passive and mount in action.

Hot feet (Slow on basic) is melee range only, 5m, so useless on Confessor. DPS spec wants to have Feel the Burn, so run that instead, you will also probably want Weapon Finesse instead of Expansive Mind, you don't care about all those powers (Glamour weapon can be on survival tray, the High-Elf racial is situational at best) You will probably do good damage with this build, but be very squishy, so play accordingly. I wouldn't classify Confessor as a bursty damage dealer, since Absolution has a high cooldown. Sure you can do one "large" ability that might crit for 1/4th of a decently geared person's HP, but that's not amazing. This is why I like Feel the Burn, your DOT hits hard and is more damage in a fight usually than a one-hit-wonder Absolution. I like one DPS and one Tanky type of discipline on confessor, I sometimes run Force Mage / Elementalist for Firewall + Absorb, as well as the DPS that Force Mage gives you. Or Bard + Mole hunter for mobility around the battlefield and utility.

Point systems in a game like Crowfall don't make sense. This isn't baseball or basketball, where the highest point wins after time has expired (at least it shouldn't be at it's core); it should be more like capture the flag, either I have the flag or I don't. We need solid mechanics for territory ownership, with future maps being so volumous that no one alliance can own the whole map. Faction warfare IS the problem. I think that even within the 12 god ruleset, we would see better results. The dregs breaks it apart even more where there are hundreds if not a thousand guilds that act as mini factions. The small nature of 3 factions is creating problems with prizes during a pre-Alpha.

    Passive Skills Reset Points

Until the day ACE puts a cap on the number of points we can have in our passive training and bad choices prevent good ones, I don't see a need for a passive respec option. I have lots of points sitting in crafting trees that I don't use, but it doesn't prevent me from training into things I do use or want to use. Frankly, I'd rather not see players switching between Master Necro, Master Blacksmith, and Master Jewelcrafter at will. It undermines the whole interdependence narrative that a functional player economy needs. As for Combat and Exploration skills, aside from skills that are NIY, I'm hard pressed to think of a place where a skill is actually wasted. The meta may have some things out of favor today, but the meta will continuously change. What is just bad today will be tomorrow's FotM. When(If?) ACE introduces the passive training book catch-up mechanism they've discussed, I think there will be even less need for a respec option. OTOH, I really think we do need the ability to do a talent respec. Even after ACE gets all the tool tips working well a player has no real understanding of what a talent does or how it works with the rest of the build until they actually have it. By then it's too late. Leveling a new vessel to move a handful of poorly placed talent points isn't going to make people happy. When a player ruins a crafted vessel because of a talent miss-click, that's going to be a very unhappy player. I don't care if it's 3 respecs & done, a weekly or monthly respec, a potion of regret, but I think we need something.

I 100% agree. It’s not even close to an even playing field for new players. They lack the knowledge and organization to be even close; numbers on the field are irrelevant if I’m using SCAR-H 7.62mm and the enemy has the equivalent of a sharpened brittle stick. @jtoddcoleman reward balance is a future JTodd problem. The game being in a more playable state is a current JTodd problem. Their needs to be some kind of NPE to let people know some of the basics, esp considering that /General is gone, and please stress the importance of guilds in game. The new testers join thinking they can play this solo and you can “play” solo but barely.

They tried this approach in Age of Conan. People mercilessly farmed alt kills for reputation. What happenned was everyone in a guild lines up along a wall and went down the line killing everyone's alts. Once decently sized guild doing this can farm 50 kills an hour with no risk for every member of the guild. I'm already stupidly more efficient by virtue of having an alt account and the extra training lines and bank space that affords me. If you tell me I can amp up my scoreboard position for loot for every person in my guild by doing nothing but buying more accounts I assure you you'll find a 20 person guild called Farms of Exile in a straight line right next to the enemy runegate every day getting murdered by naked people with basic weapons. The only thing preventing me from doing this right now is that the k/d scoreboard doesn't actually matter, and I can't actually gain anything by setting up a bunch of victim alts.

I hate to open this can of worms as i said I would stay out of it but it's not any one person or guilds fault this occurred, pointing fingers and placing blame is not going to solve the issue at all and it will continue to cause is animosity among the population, so what if two guilds that are more organized are on the same faction, the game design allowed. You can't blame them for it, they just did what they wanted as guilds. Its not their job alone to balance the factions. Pointing fingers and placing blame on bad design is not going to solve the issue.

I think as a community we should work together to help the new players gets started even if they are an opposing faction. Say you see someone out in basics.intermediates and you know you well out gear them ( I know this is hard as we all are out for blood) but maybe leave these new players alone or help them out somehow. It will build the population even more. Of course alts not withstanding here because names do get known pretty quickly if you are active. Just my thoughts on the matter. Unfortunately Sins are built just for this the ganking of new and un-experienced players but it is still alpha and we want people to get geared so we can have these epic fights on the battlefield.

I don't understand why they don't just limit the populations? In what other competition would you allow an imbalance of competitors? This is like showing up to a 15 on 5 basketball game. "Well they wanted to play together!". Huh? I get that people might have friends that want to come in late but Crowfall campaigns end. It's not separating people for very long. In addition there will be multiple campaigns. Add to that a system where spots open as people leave the campaign and I don't see the problem. What's worse? Separating latecomers to the game temporarily/making them play together on another campaign or inventing some convoluted system to combat (poorly made socksty) human nature and likely tanking the game anyway? Right now the problem is just a handful of guilds. People forget that once this game is ready thousands are going to flood in. Just wait until the unwashed masses all go Chaos because "hurr, durrr chaos!" (No offense to Chaos guilds). The plebs are not going to weigh the consequences of a scarcity system. What they are going to do is go Chaos regardless, realize that they might not be rewarded and gripe, so you may as well have limited the faction choice to begin with. 😀 The customer is not always right as evidenced by the current sorry state of the campaigns.

FWIW 1. I think if you set up any sort of reward system, I would suggest it be two tiered: - Any substantive rewards should be kept at guild level, not individual. I think that is more in the spirit of the game design plus it will reward cooperative and social play - At the individual level, rewards should be cosmetic only 2. On the mega-alliance Uncle Bob issue: - scale guild rewards based on a calculation of what percentage of the server population the alliance of guilds represents. For example, an alliance that involves 90 percent of the server population will earn less than an alliance that involves 20 percent - provide rewards for fighting to the last, even at great odds (this has been suggested by others many times) 3. See if you can increase the size and scale of the campaign worlds. I know this is a technical issue as well, but it seems to me that the larger the playing field the less likely any one alliance can dominate. I've always been in that group that thinks a massive single world a la EVE was the way to go...keep that as an option down the road if technology permits, as I think many of these issues become manageable if you let time/space do the work for you.

Browsing around, from what I can tell, a lot of you are: 1. Upset cause you're on the losing end. 2. Defending being on the winning end. and a lot of you are just 3. Whiny toddlers. Anytime the word guild is even mentioned in a game, they forge alliances and make enemies. It's just how it goes. Next campaign some of 'em are probably gonna stab each other in the back anyway when there's no reward to work for so the factions will most likely even back out after a few short campaigns. Several of you have legit ideas and arguments which is great, but most of you are just ticked that you're either on the losing end or a guild you figured would help your faction win left for the guild alliances. All over an imaginary golden reward or whatever. Y'all are acting like you're being cheated out of $1,000,000. It's sad. The problem here really seems to be the guild alliances. Wanna get rid of them? Give the guilds a reason to fight each other. Player individual rewards are great, but top guild rewards would probably take care of that even faster. Granted, we are in pre alpha and there isn't a lot of big, coordinated guilds yet, but you have to look beyond that. Where are we gonna be at launch? New players come in, new guilds, new skillsets, ect.. Get a good number of guilds and competitive players and boom. Faction tier rewards, Guild tier, then player tier. Rewards for teamwork and rewards for solo. The top player isn't necessarily going to be in the top guild, and the top guild may not necessarily be in the top faction. Everyone gets a fair shot. But seriously, if we're gonna be this insulted over a gold badge, then we need to rethink our life priorities and we're probably just not ready for rewards yet.

The gradient doesn't matter is what I'm saying. It could be totally linear. In a reward system that rewards leaderboard position rather than raw contribution, I am actively incentivized to sabotage anyone in my faction higher than me on the leaderboard. If you reward players for sabotaging the best members of their faction, players will sabotage the best members of their faction. It doesn't matter if its for 5 exports or 500. more rewards is more rewards. If in stead rewards are accrued based on performance irrespective of leaderboard position then WBs performance has only potentially positive effects on my rewards, and I am actively encouraged to fight WITH them. Reward me based on captures and contribution alone, and naturally if i top the leaderboards I have more rewards. Stopping uncle bob alliances, as i've said many times, is as simple as not allowing people to choose their faction and simply allowing guild or solo registration and assigning players and guilds as needed to balance population and prevent pre-stacking campaigns. Weight this against previous performance if necessary. If you don't allow the best guilds to have a method to stack a faction, the best guilds can't stack a faction. Leave alliance play for the alliance gametype. Use reward scarity THERE to ensure players create enough competing alliances. It doesn't work in a preset teams scenario.

NA - Day 3 - Trial of Malekai

Tark's Journal Day 3: As I lean behind a boulder surrounded on all sides, I grow tired of battling the evil balance board warriors. Feeling a weakness in my knees I collapse, I fall to the ground and ask myself, "How did it come to this?". I fade in and out of consciousness and wonder to myself, "why is this custard boulder I'm leaning up against only a rank 2?" I hear a faint voice in my head that sounds like Dolmar telling me to pick myself up off the ground. Feeling the warrior spirit within I pull myself to my feet, legs shaking but resolved to continue battle. I heard the voice again, "Tark pull out your pickaxe and hit that node". With all my might I swing my mighty pickaxe, "damn, it broke". The enemy starts to close in on all sides, "Is this really the end?" My thoughts dwell on my wife as I start to reminisce when we were last in warm embrace before kickstarter. Knowing the end is near, I feel the spirit of @dolmar putting both his hands upon the back of my broad shoulders, a thrust of life fills me inside and I feel alive once again. Dolmar whispers in my ear, "Tark, need dem purps bruh". Dolmar slaps the 8 key on my keyboard and I am recalled back to the temple. Tired and beleaguered I feel myself starting to detach from this world as I prepare to enter another. I'm going to see Quartermaster Shiner in the Shiner Kingdom. I close my eyes and I see combinations, I've seen these before and I feel comfort. My spirit starts to lift off the ground as I watch my body disappear away from this cold world. My senses start tingling and I'm right back where I started, a level 1 noob in the starting zone. I say to myself "damn, how am I going to tell dolmar I deleted another body". I log off crowfall to go cry and stuff my face with burritos while watching pornhub. I'm dead inside.

    Leveling

I think the main problem with the leveling system is that the gap between a "low" level and a maxed character is too damn big. If it was about not being at your best but being able to compete while leveling things would be a whole lot better, but, as it is now, running with a non-maxed character is suicide. You will get wrecked 10 out of 10 times. There is no actual feeling of progresion 'cuz all levels before Max suck. Level 1 you suck real bad, level 10 you suck just bad, level 15 you unlock the first shinnies but still sucks, level 25 you suck a bit (but just enough that being competitive isn't really viable). There is no progression because anyone who isn't a masochist (not judging) will have to do the leveling before playing the real PvP game and get some real fun. The worst ofender iMHO is, like people said before, the gating of powers -- Class defining powers in some cases -- behind an un-fun leveling process. I woud like to reccomend giving acess to the basic powers from lvl 1 but have them be downgraded (?) versions. Where the player could, using the same tree we have now, unlock the normal power whilist leveling. So an assassin would get a stealth power that has some sort of drawback (worse movement speed or a stealth penalty), a druid would get healing powers but they would, I don't know, generate more essense or heal less (No idea what is going on with druids anymore)? In a certain way it would be like the power upgrades we have in the promotions tree but earlier and not as game changing. Basically you would downgrade the basic powers and create "new" upgrades (that would really just be the powers we have now thus avoiding powercreep and balance changes). Would that solve the leveling problem? No way. But it would help quite a bit with how that leveling is perceived. Worst case it would at least make the leveling process more interesting. Havin to kill boars is bad, but having to kill boars using only auto-attacks is just wrong.

    Leveling

This is the main thing. Level 10 should take 10-20mins to acquire, and give you the necessary class toolkit to PvP. The extra 20 levels should be about character refinement not whole pieces.
