You heard it here first, folks! Game Designer Val Kromas will be hosting a live stream on Thursday, April 11, 11 am CDT, about Alchemy. We'll be taking questions during the thirty-minute stream, but she'd like to know in advance what information you're hoping to get from the presentation and what questions you might have.

Da wird man sehen müssen, was geht.

I can't wait to hear about the 4K healing pots, on a 3 second cooldown! I know being able to store then in stacks of 3 will help them be balanced. that and having to use them with a combat slot or opening and right clicking in bags will also help.

Here's a couple suggestions formatted as questions: What are your thoughts on alchemists being able to experiment on toxins much in the same way weapons are experimented upon? Then the damage from abilities like assassin diffusion could scale based on the toxin. What are your thoughts on the poisoner discipline allowing classes aside from assassin to equip toxins much like how some bow disciplines grant the user of a quiver? What are your thoughts on being able to experiment on the duration a potion lasts? What are your thoughts on being able to transmute QUALITY of materials? For example, 100 white iron turns into 10 green iron if you use a green alchemy reagent.

    Guards/Outposts

Curious on others thoughts regarding the guards/outposts in GR. Also, curious if this will be the new thing for the future. 80m range on guards seems too far imo, especially on the outposts. less of a concern on forts. 1000 gold to rank up to 10 and must pay every time to respawn (at least make it progressively more expensive by rank). entire maps of r10 tho fun in its own way would get annoying especially when factoring in the 80m range.

I don't agree to the conclusion. But I also don't think it would make sense to continue this discussion here. I said what i had to say here and now. There was nothing in what you said that would have convinced me that what i see is wrong. So we'll see. Thanks for sharing your opinion with me, though.

    Disc Rune Farming Refresher

I think they should go with a combo of the two systems. Farming wartribes for discs isn't a bad mechanic, it creates another role within the game. There are miners, quarryman, loggers, skinners, gravediggers, and the current systems create the need for dedicated farming groups to generate gold and other critical loot like recipes and disciplines for their guild/faction. Anyway, all this is good. The issue is like you said, the RNG factor of disciplines. Great! Got a discipline! Only problem is it's one that nobody wants. I think disciplines should drop as say "discipline shards" that you still get by killing war tribes. You give X shards to a runecrafter and they combine them into a discipline. Any one they want to. Best of both systems. You keep the newfound relevance of PVE groups but remove the RNG of actually finding the discs your guild needs.

So, i say that that communication about wipes need some significant improvements. And you try to tell me it doesnt, because last week they said "we wanted to wipe today, but couldn't quite make it"? I could also imagine that not everybody watches every one hour stream. And what about those who depend on translated news? I mean, not that they would matter of course. As much as it surely doesn't matter that those people will find out about the wipe only after the wipe. Not happy. Not good. And it's not new. But it is getting worse. That is a problem ... or pretty sure will become one, if it doesn't change. And sorry, but there are no excuses. This issue needs to be addresse. ASAP. And not this single specific issue today, but this generally growing communication issue. This. And exactly THIS. I still try to find a good reason why we only get informed on the day the actual campaigns ends on the forums/website. You just can't expect everyone to watch a 1 hour livestream instead of making a Post here or on the website where one of the probably most wanted News is posted down for everyone to read quickly. The communication got way worse than it used to be and people are complaining about it since a while already. It's not like only a few people recognized it. And yes, if you want feedback, this is feedback too.

Are we getting a patch today?

I think it is helpful to ACE and the future of Crowfall that some testers are willing to play the game during testing in the way that people will play it after it launches. That includes doing what is necessary to win, such as showing up for sieges that may determine the outcome of the campaign. The feedback on how sieges every single night felt excessive was valid.

@Pann - Can we get a confirmation on if there will or won't be a campaign starting this evening when the Trial of Kane ends, and if the wipe will be at the end of this campaign or the start of the new one? Personal suggestion. If you're not decided yet I'd love to see the new campaign start Friday evening around siege time. A lot of us missed the initial rush at the start of this campaign due to jobs/school. Especially if there is going to be a vessel wipe this rush should be awesome and I'd hate to miss it.

    My Thoughts on Vandal

The issue with YagasGift is that the 15% health with the armor changes is extremely low and in a grp scenario its close to being worthless as it neither prevent your death nor provide u with an eacape. The cooldown is also quite a huge factor for the worth of the passive... or rather lack of worth. The second problem with CC is retaliate and ultis pretty much making CC possible to be ignored. The Vandal lacks burst and sustain. Taking that sustain from life leech isnt a viable solution as they dont have mail for the mitigations. Dont know a here and now solution to the promotion but its severely lacking a presence in serious gameplay. Its a novelty build that is fun to test but not really worth compared to the other specs.

    Guards/Outposts

I think it's fine to have the higher rank guards in Forts and Keeps but camps and outposts are intended for solo/small groups so they should be capped appropriately. Especially in GR, new players in intermediate gear getting shot from 80m by R10 is griefy.

    A little constructive criticism

I mean, over the last couple years I've seen plenty of people with the same kind of demeanor and angst towards ACE, to be honest you think you are doing some kind of public service announcement or favor, but really it is just noise. The "hate" you feel you are receiving is probably because this thread will accomplish nothing and we see a new one like this like every couple weeks it seems. Honestly man, I've leveled up a dozen or so vessels just for ACE to wipe and I had to do it all over again. If you don't have patience for your time being wasted every now and then by ACE you may want to hold off till Beta. I'm not condoning behavior like that from Dev teams, I'm just stating what I think is a reality.

    A little constructive criticism

Ok first the good stuff... I really think you guys are great, you are making a very unique fun game that I have already enjoyed, playing for hours... well worth the hundred dollars I spent three years ago... OK so why is no one playing your game? 50 people logged on at 530 est.. that is horrid... like really horrid... 5 people on EU really if I was new euro player I would be screaming refund how am I supposed to play a pvp based game with 5 people logged on? So whats the problem... great game no players.. It is because your communication with your player base sucks ass! I could handle gods realm coming up,, it annoyed me we had no campaign for those days as I have all 30's really but I understood the need for it and the need to test it.. what really annoyed me though was your communication.. It took you like a day just to tell people there would not be a campaign really poor imo AS I said I went with it though the tial of Kane was announced a nice three week campaign I could sink my teeth into with vessels that will finally be competitive, so I spent 5 days farming dust and embers trying to top my gear off for the new campaign, only to have a no import campaign announced on a twitch stream in the middle of a workday... and it is only a week... your webpage still does not mention it is a no import campaign... I can write web pages and changing a line of text is really not that difficult or resource taxing.. So, I am done for the week, now the wipe looms which you people really have not hinted at yet if you are not on test or watching those midday streams you probably wont have a clue, so more people will be disappointed next week when all you need to do is communicate AS I said great game please keep us in the loop and maybe you will have more than 50 people playing

Unchangeable Major Discs- > BAD IDEA

Well originally they sold the whole idea of being able to swap vessels pre-configured with disciplines without having to level a pile of limited character slots. So a lot of frustration has been centered on how the change to leveling vessels messed with that dynamic. As to the greater point of why hot swapping (or any easier swapping mechanism) is handy: it creates a better competitive landscape. Siege Engineer is a great example of this - a discipline that serves one and only one real purpose in a narrow area and acts as the only real counter to various siege scenarios - hell its the only thing that makes a real siege plausible as long as defenders can put up trebs inside keeps. So siege engineer is something you always want available if you can have it. But the system as is intedned at this moment creates some “problems”. First, since it’s general usefulness scope is so limited it basically causes you to spend an entire character slot to utilize it. You can make excuses about how discs are meant to be rare and focus a character blah blah blah but anyone who is serious about competing is gonna stick it on a secondary copy of their class and build a generally more useful copy for all other activities and stick something more useful in that disc slot. Second, and the bigger issue imo, is that availability of personal changes day to day, and composition is super important to staying competitive. Reducing the burden to be able to fill a role increases our ability to swap between roles as needed and increases our ability to compete. When your solution to staying competitive is “no one can take days off” or you need to do 3x the amount of work to cover bases, you messed up and didn’t make a game for adults. I used siege engineer as the most glaring example, but it’s the sort of case to be wary of and worse offender. The other cases mainly fall into point 2 over point 1. I currently run 3 characters to maximize group composition, right now it means I mostly play Cleric. But previously it was Knight, and sometimes I pull out my DPS. But I’m a lunatic, I acknowledge that and don’t expect everyone to do that just so their groups can be competitive and feel like their having fun. But the harder it is to fill gaps, the less enjoyable the game is overall and the less people want to play - which pushes us closer and closer to repeating the mistakes of past and long dead games. Finally, the original vessel system accounted for this with a decent compromise - it didn’t really all fall apart until leveling became a thing and we started stacking reasons to grind. Don’t get me wrong, talents are cool, but leveling is just annoying and decreasing the overall competitive atmosphere with its various knock on effects - especially as they make it more and more difficult to do so. I feel they really need to find a way to move leveling to the crow level and return vessels to swappable equipment. Edit: I skipped talking about crafting, but that’s because I agree with most here that crafting interdependence is good. But crafting and combat are really not balanced against each other conceptually, they are drastically different types of activities with different constraints. Variety of combat characters and variety of crafting characters are not apple to apple comparisons. This can easily be seen by considering the past concerns about VIP training (that never occured) where multiple combat trees being trained was considered OP broken whereas training multiple crafting lines would just negate needing an alt account.

Unchangeable Major Discs- > BAD IDEA

When some of those discs are more important than the vessel they're in, they're more than customization. Blade Master is customization and is completely optional. Having a Plague Lord somewhere on the team is a big deal, but not make or break. Having a Siege Engineer available is not an option. Either the game needs to move away from hard counters/enables, or we need to be able to choose.

    [RP] Corvus Citadel Rallies!

News from the front had reached Thimble mere moments ago. He had been busy helping run things at the Citadel and had been unable to help the war effort aside from the occasional flight into the Trial of Kane to quickly craft armor before he had to return. Raising the White Crow had proven to be a more difficult affair than anticipated, but the results would be worth it. As for the news from the front lines, it had been good, to say the least. In the face of overwhelming odds, three small groups of Corvus Citadel forces had managed to secure two keeps from the Winterblades and their vassals through the use of cunning tactics and swift decision making. The Balance faction began the night with three keeps, so their defenders were spread thin. Duffy Swiftshadow, Commander of the forces of Corvus Citadel, gave the order to the small group to assault Umbressa Keep, which was particularly light on defenders. Within minutes, the warriors of the Citadel overran the token defense and were able to destroy the Tree of Life and plant their own. Immediately, the band pivoted and marched at best speed to Rose Knights Grove Keep. The first to arrive were the scouts, and they reported back that the forces of Balance and Order were fighting over one of the Bane Trees outside the keep. Quig, Sergeant of Corvus Citadel, and Dirty, one of several Crowguard involved in the operation, quickly devised a plan while Duffy was commanding from the rear, helping the several recruits in attendance to catch up to the main force. It was a bold plan, and a risky one. Once Duffy and the recruits caught up, the small group of warriors began creeping along the wall of the keep, careful not to draw attention. Twice Grimmel, Corax Councilmember and forward scout, motioned for the force to stop all movement and cover their armor with their cloaks as they waited for a distant enemy scout to pass, hoping beyond hope that the scouts' attentions were always directed outward rather than inward toward the keep. Their luck held, as they were able to enter the keep through the breach without being discovered. Immediately they broke into a run, Quig leading the attackers in a glorious charge, straight to the objective: the Tree of Life. The brave warriors knew that they would only get one chance. Within seconds, Grimmel reported that the Winterblades were on to them. They must have had their own scouts watching the Tree of Life because their entire force turned on a gold piece as one and began streaming back toward the keep. The order was given to the warriors of the Corvus Citadel to throw everything they had at the Tree of Life in an attempt to take it down before they were overwhelmed. They grouped up, packing themselves tightly together, to maximize the effect of the beneficial magics of their clerics and other casters. The Tree of Life was nearly dead when the vanguard of the Winterblades slammed into the small force, but the phalanx held, though not without heavy loss. Zerst called out that he would begin the Resurrection Ritual, to try to save as many Corvus Citadel vessels as he could, to allow them to continue to fight. He was able to bring four of them back to life before he was knocked out of the ritual, more than anyone could have expected. Quig gave the order to blow novas, and one after another of the brave warriors gathered their energy and released it explosively, knocking the Winterblades off of the building. Finally the Tree of Life succumbed to its wounds. Quig and Grimmel, each with one hand on the same golden apple, dropped to their knees simultaneously, smashing the apple into the ground, causing a new Tree of Life to sprout, this one attuned to Chaos. The small band of warriors, half of which were green recruits wearing bits and pieces of hastily made armor, had done the impossible. Corvus Citadel had taken two keeps from the overwhelming forces of the Winterblades and their vassals. Thimble leaned back in his chair, taking two puffs on his pipe, the sun streaming in through a window illuminating the smile on his face.
