    Crowfall video capture - 5/9/19

    The next capture session is planned for Thursday, May 9, 7:30 pm CDT - 9:30 pm CDT. Please sign up HERE. Signup is required because we need will need to place a temporary entitlement on your account so that you can log into the special demo campaign on TEST where we'll be filming. You will also be given access to the Video Capture Crew Discord channel on the Official Crowfall Discord. (Keep an eye out from a friend request and/or invitation from Pann.) CUTOFF time for signups is 6:30 pm CDT on Thursday, May 9. The video we're making is based on a War Story by Blazzen. The footage we'll be capturing on Thursday includes a big battle scene, so we need as many people as we can get (hopefully in the 40 peeps range). Remember that this is more like filming a movie than an actual siege, scripted and some scene resets. You don't have to be a great warrior, just a good listener with a lot of patience. 😃 In addition to seeing your name in the end credits of the video, everyone who participates will receive an in-game item reward to be given out either at beta or launch. (This reward will also be given to those who participated in the capture sessions last week.) The time you spend on TEST with us for these captures will also be applied towards earning the May "Tankard of the Month". NOTES: No Guineceans (they get lost in the crowd) or High Elves (the blue doesn't show well in videos). A headset with mic is helpful, but not mandatory, but you will need to be able to listen to audio (via a Discord voice channel) for instructions.     Trial of May

    Hmmm. White knight Mandalore to the rescue! They are developing a game and they’ve locked themselves into an expectation that there will always be a persistent 24/7 trial going. Let’s be honest with ourselves, there shouldn’t be and they don’t have to do that. Their testing needs come before us “playing” and they find themselves and a patch crossroads. 5.90 is a huge patch for them (just like 5.8 and 5.7 and 5.6) and they are close but it needs to be tested. If there’s a campaign up on live then everybody is “playing” live and only a handful of people are testing test. So they have to make a choice. 1. Do they push an unfinished 5.90 to test and launch a trial? It will most assuredly go bad and anybody who is playing the trial will be mad for them pushing something so unfinished and bug ridden. 2. Do they delay the trial for their needs (a week or two at most) and ensure the large 5.90 bug list is under wraps before launching another trial? One of those options is about placating people and costs them money, time and other resources while still trying to do their job (make the game) and the other is them doing their job. If launching the trials every gets in the way of them pushing content so the game can move forward they should delay every time. We paid for early access to pre alpha testing and if that becomes liability to the production of the game they should cut us off as needed.

    Fight for the Mule

    In shadowbane, in order to loot more, characters needed to have strength. The more strength, the more loot you can. In the real world, i cannot fight with 12 plate armors in my inventory. I would need a Mule 🛒 The Mule looks like a wagon, and carries the loot of the group. It is a bigger inventory, that: The Mule content is so big that you need it . For example, max resource stack can be higher (200+) The mule may transport your friend cadaver and his inventory is slower than your character can share content with group members. can be captured( let's name the situation 'Mule in danger'), but its content can be sold only in towns or forts. Of course, PK will be happy to get it... if they got time to pull the Mule back to the town in order to sell the content. The ground will then be something like the far west fighting for the diligence, because when you get killed while farming, then you always will have a chance to get your loot back (Forced PvP time, Time to log your PvP char and maybe help in your Faction or guild ? ⚔️) Guild anouncement: "Mule in danger: A group in your faction may loose 50 021 gold". The amount is evaluated by the server, according to the content of the Mule's inventory. "Mule in danger" could be displayed in the global MAP (only for guild member) Maybe a part of the selling can be given to your guild (10% for example).

    Hi all the crowfall team, These are constructive feedback and suggestions to fix the previous stated issues about (take a look at previous posts before reading this) : 1. Lack of weapon differentiation in gameplay 2. Lack of (true) liberty in character differentiation 1. To improve the lack of weapon differentiation. Parry: we can't make a real sense of melee fight without a parry system. In sb, Parry creates the chance for a player to cancel out melee attacks with their own weapon. Chance to parry receives a 5% bonus for dual-wield and a 10% bonus for wielding a two-handed weapon. Here some weapons could be better in parrying (swords, staff, pole arm). A parry mechanics could be passive (if player keep staying idle) or active. It can stack with a shield block. in sb, a shield block was more efficient than weapon parry against projectiles. It's is a good way to introduce a weapon differentiation because now you have a 'parry chance' value to weapons. Powers differentiation: In sb, powers were mainly linked to weapon type (1H sword, 2H Sword, 1H Axe, 2H Axe, Dagger, 1H Hammer, 2H Hammer, Bow, Crossbow, Pole Arm, Unarmed, spears, staff (Weapon power example on swords https://morloch.shadowbaneemulator.com/index.php?title=Sword)). It seems more realistic, because, that's not only your class that should define what you can do (stun, debuff, bleed...) but your weapon nature and your skill using it. Each class got a different skill on weapons. A warrior was master in swords, a ranger expert, A barbarian journeyman...It mainly impacts the powers efficiency. Linking powers to weapon nature could allow much more liberty on character building. Discipline could add powers or change the class behaviour (https://morloch.shadowbaneemulator.com/index.php?title=Blade_Master). Now you can unlock access to a wider range of weapons to your classes without thinking of designing each class behavior. Attack rating / defensive rating : in crowfall, attack power seems a bit confusing. It overlaps with damage without a real gameplay impact or sense of cohesion. But the idea could be more developed. Sb introduced the attack rating and defense rating system. Just like other RPG/RTS games (Total war series...), attack rating increases accuracy chance on melee or projectile. This adds a lot of deepness in fights. Because you need to make a balance your trains between dexterity (that increases accuracy) and strength (that increases damage). On the other side, defense rating was trained in your armor skill. High defense rating increases the chance to auto-dodge the attack. So the formula is relative between your opponent and you. Your defensive rating is effective only if it's higher than your opponent attack rating. So you have full deepness to build your character here. Its not an absolute system, its a relative one (it mainly depends on the players builds on the server). So you can focus your trains on armor and/or on weapon skill. For example, you can make full dps char with less train on defense, or full tanky low dps. And if you char is less accurate than your opponent you can have to pay the cost. So all these mechanics blend brilliantly. Now you have a meaningful weapon differentiation. Equip your ranger with an axe and the powers will be different than a sword. As a weapon, axe can have all current crowfall mechanics (armor piercing, damage increase...) plus new mechanics (attack rating buff, defense debuff, parry). Then a relative system is better (from an absolute system) because implies that the other players' char builds drives the creative choices (in order to find some counters builds). 2. To introduce more character differentiation Char differentiation as a focus: If powers are linked to weapon type, it would much easier to find some character differentiation. Now you can concentrate not on same classes features but on unique ones. If you can train 90% of a tree, you will have poor differentiation. It will be on the remaining 10%. Imagine you can only train 40% of a tree at the end, You can have a much better differentiation on the same classes. A simple look at sb can show us how deep can be a char building with meaningful differentiation (https://morloch.shadowbaneemulator.com/index.php?title=Main_Page). On some classes i spend most of my training points on skills (and so not on powers) because it was my goal. I don't mind. Buffing the talent system: the talent system could introduce common skills between classes (parry, block, regen, defense rating, attack rating...) but at various degree of effectiveness. In sb, class or race could have different parry chance. The same things can be said for health regen, stamina regen...The talent system should give more flexibility and more customization amount. Not a 15% critical chance can change a build. The talent system must not be cosmetic. It should really impact gameplay by a great amount by unlocking any kind of exotic strategies. Unlocking creativity in a relative system: choices should impacts gameplay so it allows creativity. Imagine I want to make a high defensive char for harvesting resources. DPS isn't my focus. I would be able to focus everything on defense (parry chance, block chance, high defensive rating, movement speed, escape artist discipline...). So my opponent will need to catch me. He needs to be fast, accurate (high attack rating) and has to make use of snare/stun abilities. The attack will be more challenging. But now if i'm high dps strength based, the opponent needs to log another char build. That made sb fantastic, it could need a tailored char to perform a task. Do not invent the wheel: most of the previous suggestions are from sb. It's just because sb designer team meet the same problems than crowfall about char designing and differentiation. Crowfall is richer on features but much less deep than sb. Crowfall features stack themselves in a vertical layer way with poor differentiation. The crowfall engine is fantastic but it should a good thing to learn from sb. Same problems can have same solutions. The combat engine in crowfall must not be only good, it must be fantastic!!! Because its the core of the game!!! All turn around the fight at the end. Of course we cannot copy everything from sb, but sb is mainly praised for its char building customization and deepness.     About Weapons, would it be possible to add a range to melee weapons ? I mean, a pole arm should hit an enemy 2 meters away, whereas a dagger must be really close to hit. This should be taken into account when fighting. In a real fight, how can a dagger armed guy can stand against a 1 handed long blade enemy, if the dagger guy can't approach because of the blade ? The weapon size is very important in a real combat. Short Swords should have less hit range than Long Swords. Also, the weapon size should affects 360 degres powers AE with such weapons. A long weapon ranges a bigger area than a little weapon. This is real true weapon differentiation.

    Stormcaller needs a helping hand

    Stormcaller is pretty decent at what it does, however it needs a small helping hand with some weird design choices and certain powers that simply dont work Faerie Flames: Reduced physical mitigation's which is worthless for a stormcaller but not earthkeeper, i suggest adding in a different power option that reduces elemental resistances in the slot where ritual sacrifice currently is to give variety and make it usable for all specs Sacrifice+Ritual Sacrifice: Sacrifice is absolutely worthless in all situations, 20% health for 20% essence, in comparison to ritual sacrifice which trades 8% health for 20% essence leaving a stormcaller with no option but to spend a point here, i suggest deleting sacrifice and just replacing it with ritual sacrifice as the base power and replacing the old ritual slot in the talent tree with a faerie flames alternative, this would help every spec in the early game with the massive sustain issues they have Lightning Burst: Good on paper bad in reality, its hard to land since it acts like gaea's wail and doesnt land well on moving targets and the opening animation takes way to long as well taking at minimum half the timer for the 2nd chain power, just cut down on the animation and fix its targeting Gaea's Wail: Literally impossible to land on a moving target and on still targets at different elevations, its a very strong power on dummies but needs work to be actually usable in the field, fixed targeting and half the channel time Storm Avatar: Very strong power and definitely needs a cooldown however 5 minutes i feel is too long, lower avatar fatigues to 3 minutes please Natures Grace: Very long timer for a 12 second power, if you want a 68 second cooldown on it please raise it to 3-4% per each basic hit or decrease the timer Leeching Seed: Decent power however its range isnt in line with the rest of stormcallers kit, requiring a very squishy ranged class to be within 8m of a target is kinda suicide in a tough fight, increase range to 30m please, if you think its too op then remove the damage bonus decrease and leave the slow Hot foot(illusionist passive): Druid basics are the only thing that doesnt work with this since we only have 1 basic hit instead of 3, i suggest making it apply a stack of hot foot on each basic for everyone and when it reaches 3 it applies the slow Electrogenesis: Another good on paper bad in reality power, stormcallers have no support power so the orbs it drops are very bad heal wise along with being hard to pick up, i suggest making them scale with ap instead and make them more responsive so i dont need to run over then 4 times to pick them up

    stormcaller has no meaningful unique flavour or utility [and severe tray restrictions] and just stacks multiple long cooldown powers with an unsustainable LMB my previous suggestions within existing tech: have the promotion unlock a new style of LMB - essentially acting as a charge and shoot 'electric bow' [e.g. charging and throwing lightning bolts zeus style] give the class a 'shield' themed power e.g. a (ranged) RMB style templar 'parry and counter attack' [e.g. a lightning shield 'redirect flow' style power] a passive that generates barriers to self/group based on damage done (like templar's devotion) or grants a buff to allies that restores health/resource when they hit the enemy for the next X number of hits (e.g. old legio 'discipline/command' buff system) change the proc orbs from green to yellow [more hp and resource generation buff] perhaps make the stormcaller version an AoE around target that picks it up.

    Hi all crowfall team, I didn't play crowfall since 1 year now, and i'm really pleased by the changes made. The talent tree, animations smoothness, graphics (i'm testing the 5.9, all really love the graphic balance between cartoon/realistic style ). War tribes gives more PVE stuff and fights are more dynamic. Upgrade camps and forts are so cool Players scoreboard is really funny!! So congratulation for all your hard work, it seems to become good wine. I have so many things to say but this topic will focus on character dev. I was very excited to start a new character several day ago. There so many characters building concepts that can make your build unique (critical hit, damage, owers, runes, attack power, talent tree upgrades, passive skills, crafting armor and weapons, vessels...), and i would like to share my impression on the char building system which is the main game core. I was a shadowbane player and the true liberty given on char creation was absolutely brillant, so brillant that it casted out pleasure for playing another mmorpg game. I didn't even find any game that gives so much liberty and creativity. So when i heard about crowfall, i was so excited to see all this veteran team back again. So several days ago, i started a ranger. And i told myself : let's see how we can customize your character. So we have many options. Focus on constitution, dexterity or strength. I chose full dexterity to improve critical hit chance, attack powers and armor (some reminds me of high defensive rangers from shadowbane). Even at level 30, this choice didn't make real changes on my char. My char earned 2% on armor resist, yes...not so much, 15% on critical hit chance, and some attack power. Finally, if i went on full strength, it would give me a flat damage 5-7 % increase. On Shadowbane, a strength ranger was completely different gameplay from a dexterity ranger. Most of the time you go health regen and dps on a strength ranger. On a dexterity ranger, you focus on high defensive to dodge everything, but if you don't go very high def or if you meet your counter build, you were completely destroyed. That was so fun. Sometimes you win 5vs1, and sometimes a simple scout can kill you. The risk/reward was absolutely crazy. So on crowfall, attributes don't really impact gameplay. Ok, anyway we have the talent system and the last 3 subclass choices. Yes, but it doesn't impact that much the gameplay, some resist % on this branch, or some dps % on this one, one more power. The runes can customize your building too. I really love that some runes give gameplay changes (bard...). Of course, we can make some synergies. but i have the feel that everything seems confined, too much controlled. All the game mechanics are here, but we can't really push creativity. I can't make a regen ranger, a high defense one, no kind of exotic builds... The talent system went in a good direction from a pure passive tree. A pure passive tree gives all players same stuff at the end. The talent system gives more liberty and choices make sense. But we need to go further. The crowfall team don't need to think about all char builds possible and want to control them. Of course, balance is needed. But creativity and exotic builds should be possible. On Shadowbane, several years after the char creation, new builds appeared. I remember a high defense templar, full intelligence, with 4 damage overtime power that can win against 10vs1 (all fully leveled). But just a simple mana drain can completely destroy its strategy, but only 6 months after the counter appears in the builds. It was epic moments. The High defense sentinel that survived against its own kamikaze bomb... A 5/6 high def intelligence based sentinels rush could completely destroy a 30/40 stacked players. Another group of sentinel could rush and fully drain all mana around, that fully dispelled a complete army of healers. You had the full specs groups too (xbow groups, debuff and fire damage groups...). That was completely insane exotic builds, but it worked. It was epic and fabulous! Char creation and build was the key to victory. Thinking of a build was rewardful. And we need to have the chance to live this kind of crazy moments to invest time on playing. I wish the crowfall team all success because crowfall is far away games on the gameplay deepness. So mechanics are here, progress has been made toward this direction, just free the creation risk balance. Leave more freedom and choices. There will be bad choices, but some epic moments. Hope this help !

    Lack of weapon / armour diversity

    I think the Runic Weapon system could open up possibilities for this type of thing in the future. Rare recipe drops for creating items with special bonuses or ability grants. This might even be a motivation to go to into a particular Campaign, if you knew there was a rare recipe "treasure" to hunt there (i.e. Jingletap's Sword of Bard Speed 😂)

    In the name of the Citizens of Ravenheart, I would like to thank Travian for this contest and for our entry being chosen as the winner of this contest. Since this honor is already more than what we had hoped for and because CoR understands itself as group that has the prosperity of the community at it's heart, we would like to pass our prices on to the 2 honorable mentions, who otherwise wouldn't get anything for their efforts of bringing life to this contest. A good community shouldn't be about a few getting all the benefits and feeling great about it, while others are getting nothing -- but about the lucky ones sharing with the group; showing that participation can pay out, even if unexpected. We would like to make a point into this direction, hoping that Travian will find a way to make it possible - and that others may follow this lead one day.     salut! voilà un petit tour ce matin et j'ai vu que aucun siège n'était prévu dans le planning je trouve ca vraiment dommage qu'il n'y est pas en permanence au moins un fort sur toute les maps qui soit capturable (c un nouveau mot je sais) ! Bref du coup je me reporte sur une tour pour voir si y'a eu des changements et paf! un bug . Petite vidéo pour montrer le compteur de capture ne bouge pas alors que je suis en neutre puisque le garde ne m'attaque pas. Le compteur est revenu à la normal au moment de la capture.

    Ich ein Neuling aber ich denke oft : was wäre wenn man die Fraktionen nicht wechseln kann man muss sich entscheiden ,würde dadurch nicht eine Ausgeglichenheit entstehen wobei 100% wird es nie sein .Auch würde ich den kleinen Gilden mehr Aufmerksamkeit schenken . LG solairre

    Queríamos agradecer a todos los que se han interesado en este proyecto. Hemos decidido dar un inicio algo relajado por lo que solo se han elegido 2 para esta primera prueba: Horizon y Corvus Citadel. Eso no significa que no vayan a participar el resto, esperamos tener éxito con este primer intento y entonces ir haciendo mas, el plan inicial es que todos los que os habéis ofrecido tengáis la oportunidad de participar en el proyecto. Os mantendremos informados de como va el mismo.

    Taking down Test without Warning...

    Normally I would agree with you, but literally (yes, actual literally, not millennial filler word literally) everything I did had bugs associated with it. PvE, Harvesting, PvP (ability usage), crafting... But you are right, they need to say “please test hunger shards” for example because I’m already contemplating smashing my toe with a hammer rather than logging on test again.

    It was not difficult to extend the campaign and open the test at the same time, people could be testing the 5.9 in free time, I in my case will not play until the next campaign is interesting, I will not waste more time, especially seeing that has every campaign the pve necessary to level up grows, it makes me want to uninstall the game, I look for pvp to go kill animals I go to other games.

    Kirigoths Erinnerungen: erstes Fragment Kirigoth drehte sich erschöpft um die eigene Achse und warf einen Blick um sich. Es war kalt geworden. Nichts, aber auch nichts deutete darauf hin, dass sich die Dinge wieder zum Besseren, zum Wärmeren wenden würden. Der Hunger hatte von allem Lebenden, allen Unbelebten, ja offensichtlich auch von allem Göttlichen Besitz ergriffen. Ein Schauer lief ihm den Rücken herunter und setzte sich unangenehm in seiner Magengegend fest. Kein Schwert, kein Foliant Akons, keine noch so kunstvoll geschmiedete Rüstung versprach Rettung. Der Confessor mit dem Namen Kirigoth setzte sich resigniert auf einen trocken gebliebenen Stamm und harrte der Dinge… Was waren sie doch im Frühjahr noch voller Tatendrang und Hoffnung gewesen, den Hunger doch noch zu besiegen. Die kleine Gruppe bestehend aus Kirigoth, Rahel, Tarme und Slampers hatte sich in Gaias Tempel versammelt. Hier bereiteten sie sich auf den Auftrag vor. Mehr zufällig als geplant hatten sie in der Woche zuvor bei einer feindlichen Begegnung mit einem Urgu Kriegsstamm eine Schriftrolle erbeutet und sie glaubten, aus dieser eine Botschaft herausgelesen zu haben, die so bedeutungsvoll schien, dass sie beschlossen, dem Konflikt zwischen Sonne und Mond keine Beachtung mehr zu schenken und sich der Rettung dieser Welt zu widmen. Ein aussichtsloses Unterfangen, wie ihm nun drei Jahreszeiten später bewusst geworden war. Anfangs waren sie noch zuversichtlich. Rahel war es gelungen, die Schriftrolle zu entziffern. Die Zeichen deuteten darauf hin, dass die Mächte der Erde auch nach Gaeas Tod die Rettung verheißen würden. Illara… Illara schien den Schlüssel zu sein. Und so machten sie sich auf den Weg, um mit ihr Kontakt aufzunehmen. Es sollte eine lange und zermürbende Reise vor ihnen liegen. Die Abenteuer, die sie auf dieser Reise erlebt hatten, genügten, um einen ganzen Band an Sagen zu füllen. Nur knapp waren sie dabei dem Tod am Fuße eines Berges entronnen… Den Kontakt mit dem Halbelfen hatten sie zunächst als geringe Gefahr abgetan. Auf ihrer Reise waren sie in zahllose Auseinandersetzungen mit den verschiedenen Kriegsparteien geraten und konnten diese in der Regel recht schnell zu ihren Gunsten entscheiden. Und so schien es als hätte Kirigoth den Mondspäher auch diesmal bereits früh ausgemacht. Sie beschlossen, den Spieß umzudrehen und folgten ihm in der Hoffnung, vor dem Anstieg des Berges noch etwas Verpflegung und Ausrüstung erbeuten zu können. Diesmal waren sie es jedoch gewesen, die in die Falle geraten waren, denn der Halbelfe hatte sie schon lange zuvor entdeckt und schließlich geschickt in einen Hinterhalt gelockt. Schlagartig fanden sie sich nicht nur von kampferprobten Mondanhängern umringt, sondern mussten zugleich auch noch deren verbündete Aracoix Krieger abwehren. Es schien als hätte man auf sie gewartet...

    The Surly Knight Sir Rain was sitting at his usual table, at his usual time, in his usual mood, in the corner by the fire, in the tavern near the temple. His usual time lately was all of the time. This tavern was a fine example of the strategic importance of staging posts along the route to the warring frontier, with good stables, good supply and good ale. In truth, Master Blair, the owner of the tavern could do without the patronage of the surly Knight by his fire, but he was a veteran himself and could well afford a little charity to a fellow warrior. "Your ale, Sirrah" said Blair and with a smile as effusive as the foam in the pewter crock he slapped it down on the rough oak table in front of Sir Rain. But his broad smile was not met in kind. Master Blair retreated with a sad shake of his head, well knowing the states of soldiery, and the unseen, unsaid sadness of a warrior at peace. Sir Rain occasionally worried that his surly presence was not a great boon to the Inn but what he did not know was that Master Blair was more than happy to accommodate his misery in lieu of the marketing offset. In any day that the surly knight was in attendance Master Blair could be happy that his establishment had the kudos of an active, if surly, knight in attendance. This then was the gripe for any professional soldier of these times. Fighting, risking life and limb to achieve a state of peace, but then finding peace an unwelcome friend. Sir Rain could not voice his frustration of peace to the young serving staff who saw nothing but joy in front of them. For to gainsay those whose peace he had fought for was an anathema. Yet, still, he just wanted to fight and struggled not too with the local idiots. Sir Rain could see no release, nor wanted any, duty to honour being what it was, and honour bound, now, to peace. Maybe there would be no other campaign for him, and Master Blair would grow tired of him and throw him out to the gutter where he would rot, having learnt no other skill than war. Indeed, Master Blair's patience was running a little thin this autumn as Sir Rain's gruff demeanour was scaring the serving maids of his establishment, yet knowing full well if Inn's like his did not hold host to warriors, then who would ? Sir Rain's thoughts turned darker still. Inside, he wanted to scream at the locals, scream that that they were just fools. That war was always a moment away. As much as he wanted to fight for their glory, he could neither accept their peace. Peace was not in his soul. So he drank. Master Blair raised his eye to the open door and put one hand to the throwing knife under the bar as the phalanx of leather armoured assassins poured into the Inn, and then relaxed as he recognized the face that entered behind. In any walk of life there are not many faces that can truly alter the plight of all that fall under their gaze, but today, this face, this person, was known for a thousand leagues, for this was Commander Dravoix. "Enjoying your rest Sir Rain?" "NO Sir! I am not!" Sir Rain could not help himself and had already stood bolt upright, without having to think about it. "Good, Chaos hordes are infiltrating, we have incursions across the map and I need warriors like you to step up" "Yes Sir! About time! I shall report to the temple for muster." "No time for that I'm afraid, your orders are to move directly to Thracia and gather what troops you can to retake Storm Haven keep. We shall undertake a new campaign to neutralise all regions. Are we clear Sir Rain?" "Yes Sir! The best news I have had this year. Storm Haven it is Commander".
