    I would disagree with your conclusion. I think the edgy bad guy theme of the Chaos faction is why there are usually more people on that faction. It is totally untrue that 90% of people go Balance, and the themes and descriptions of the factions have nothing to do with why Balance consistently wins campaigns.

    Im amused you alluded to an analogy of team game with even sides, set rules and defined playing area to try to explain why play to crush finding and killing farmers is just like a competitive sport. (Spoilers they are not at all the same). A better analogy would be if the opposing team could show up to our practice with twice as many people, steal our ball and break out legs, and then get declared the winners. Again, I dont care that theirs risk and PvP. But I'm not gonna pretend the goals of the activities magically align, cause they don't. Which is one of the root problems of sandbox games and why you always run into this conversation about sheep vs wolves and how fair or not fair it is etc... You can either acknowledge that maybe their's something to the root of the argument, or you can keep claiming everyone is wrong and you don't understand why this keeps happening. If only we would just be better real PvP sandbox players!!! /s

    All this adding of PvE systems in the vail attempt to promote PvP isn't working. Eventually(one could argue we have already hit that tipping point) we will have a PvE centric game. Players pursuing PvE activities tend to want less PvP since that reduces efficiency.

    I've been thinking there is plenty of room for more elf variants. Dark elves, blood elves, stone elves, ore elves, night elves, afternoon elves. The sky is the limit really.

    harvesting without threat of being attacked is absolutely dreadful, especially since i do skinning, the possibility of pvp while gathering is literally the only thing i miss from being chaos

    I like the idea of a PVE boss being triggered by some player activity (killing lower mobs, sacrifice, capturing an outpost, etc). Another approach to dynamic spawns could be to make a boss spawn a random event with a global announcement "The Great Wyvern has been spotted in XX Zone, head there to claim it's treasure!" so rather than a farming/grinding activity it becomes a focused PvP event.

    I'm not poo pooing it really, just jaw jacking about potential pros/cons. I'm basically saying that to get the big fantasy trolls and demons playable they'd have to be like shrunken lame versions of those particular fantasy tropes. Like how big does a tolkien style troll have to be to really work as a troll? Shadow of War got them bout as big as you could reasonably go and even that game knew that it was smarter to call them half-trolls as the trolls we're talking about here, the giant regenerating tanks are just unwieldy for the sorts of actions and building sizes player need to do. Ditto about demons in my opinion. Could you have that kind of D&D abyssal hulking winged thing really feel right if it was limited to the size of a half giant? Seems to me it would feel a lot like ridley does in smash ultimate. You've got the design, but through the necessity of shrinking it down to competitive size with the other playable characters it just loses the essential menace and forever looks like a pygmy version of what you know it should be, you know? I'm not against the bears, and agree GW2 really missed the mark on races, considering how well eye of the north set up the races to have these wildly divergent properties. It was a shame they decided to go the route of making racial skills basically useless for balance reasons. Personally I would have liked racial skills to matter and then given people a way to earn functionally identical skills from other races through a quest line or something so they could have the powers for a build without needing to choose the race, similar to how GW1's humans basically got "spirit" versions of norn's animal transforms or asuran tech devices without actually becoming norn or asuran themselves. Crowfall's the one game I could see spiders working since they don't come with the whole baggage of "existing armor models must fit" due to CF races already having both planned unique racial weapons, cf races having unique racial armor, and CF races being designed around the idea that races are functionally different and may even have race only classes. If there was ever a game that made sense to try it it'd be crowfall. You could build racial armor for spiders same way you build it for everyone else since they'd have a unique model anyway. I wouldn't get my hopes up though. Its a pretty out there idea with a truckload of animation work. That goes to another discussion though about "special race" variants I'd been thinking of. Basically, consider that all races currently playable are 'defaults' right, you can make new characters with free white vessels, they use basic classes that are often shared, etc. What if you end up with a selection of "exotic" monster races that function much more like archetypes to cut down their cost? Like imagine spiders or bear people or whatever are unusable until you've assembled a vessel for them via necromancy, and the races are class-locked in order to control very specific access to weapons and armor. SO you could get those monster races in with less art, as, say the bear folk race/class only wears mail and uses special bear-sized greatswords, or spiders only wear plate and use footspikes or whatever. Then you only need one armor model. If you class lock them you can give them very specific race styled skills without also needing to do as much animation to try and figure out how to work the default classes on them too. The idea here being these are really hard sidegrade style characters with interesting racial drawbacks to compensate for very powerful racial strengths. The kind of thing that's not appropriate for a new player but could be an interesting tool in the toolbox for seasoned veterans looking for some more challenging characters to play. That'd be a cost effective avenue to get a lot of weird monster races in the game which only make sense in very specific roles that maximize what's weird and wild about those races, since their whole class tree would be, in effect, a race tree. It'd be a really compelling high level goal, to get these sort of specialized monsters available that you can only get through necromancy. Like say in stead of digging, the monster race parts were assembled by looting the parts from actual monster bosses or something.

    The lifesteal bonus does not give you lifesteal. It only increases the effectiveness of the lifesteal you get from other sources, such as class powers.

    Depending on what side of the equation you’re on for a given day dictates your goal. If you happen to be PvEing, your goal is to avoid the risk of PvP. If you’re looking to PvP, you have no risk and get annoyed that you’re bored. This happens because the two goals are the opposite of each other even if you accept the caveat of the game these actions take place in. I’m fine with the risk of PvP, I still don’t want to run into a fight when I’m farming, ergo I work to avoid it thus negating someone else’s desire to PvP me. You can complain that it shouldn’t be that way or that people should play another game. And yet here we are seeing the same old thing happen over and over again and everyone acts likes it’s some big mystery or surprise.

    (1) 8/3/19 World Bank does not update quantites of a stack. If you have a stack of 5 Embers in your bank and have 3 embers in your inventory, when u place the 3 embers in the World Bank it will still display 5 embers. The number counter for the stack doesnt update until its withdrawn and put back in the bank. (2) Single target heals still are not fixed. Enemies take priority in targeting, even if your reticle is directly on an ally. (3) Nerf of melee range to 3m is rough on the remaining root motion abilities like Champion Stomp-Rend combo.

    The first post of this thread is dated July 22nd. It was commented on 10 times with the last post as July 24th. 10 days later it is re-posted as the August 1st "News" in the following month. I mean, at least it isn't another War Story, but, why not just cancel the news if you guys dont want to do it anymore??, because clearly you dont. All it is doing at this point is souring me on the game as it is a total let-down anymore.

    The threat of being killed is very much part of the gathering game loop. The mice need cats to complete the pvp sandbox farming game loop. This is a PvP game, and it was always pitched as a PvP game. PvP, or at least the threat of it, is part of harvesting.
