When I read these type of messages I always wonder why people try to play an MMORPG when it seems they want to play a MOBA.

    Order of Promo Discounts

Hi ACE, it seems that currently promo code discounts get used from "earlier to later", not from "higher to lower". So if someone wants to buy the game and has two applied codes, with the later one being higher, the new crow will still only get the lower discount applied during checkout. In order to not dissappoint/rip-off people who only decided to buy due to a new and higher discount, I would suggest to check out if this can be changed ... and call it a bug for now. Thanks Kraahk

Sorry but they won't remove things only because you don't like them. Crafting/Survival aspects of the game are in since Kickstarter, @thomasblair is one who take part of the crafting system in SWG, we tested the crafting/harvesting systems for 3 years + from now and because you just got into the game you are asking how we can remove it? I must say 🤣 It seems you only focused your attention on one part of the game and clicked the buy button without knowing all the other stuff around it, it's not their fault that you made this mistake. The leveling part is way easy and if you don't want to craft just be part of a guild and have Crafters working for you, simple as that.

    Movable UI Elements

TLDR: Having to look away from the action in the center of the screen to see crucial information lessens the experience. The larger my monitors get, the farther away the cooldowns, pip counters, myrmidon crash meter, ect get from what I want to be looking at. Its a big reason why many people hate subtitled movies, because they have to continually keep looking down to see whats going on instead of being able to focus on the movie. Im not even asking for resizing elements, but being able to move things like health meters and class ability counters to areas that the player find more visible would help greatly. The main reason Ive stayed with World of Warcraft for so many years is that its one of the few games that allows me to place elements I consider crucial in areas my brain can recognize them. Edit> Yes, Ive seen the new UI design. Its nice, but in no way addresses having all of the info at the edges of the screen when the action is in the middle.

I suspect that the first iteration we’ll see will be generally similar Keep/Fort system that we are already familiar with. The building of the walls will require more effort (ie, boulders, ingots and timber will be too heavy or large to fit in our inventory and thus we’ll need the caravans to get those resources from the PoI to the Keeps/Forts). There will be options for what to place (Barracks, Church, Bank, etc) but not where inside. Then we’ll have a ranking system for improving the buildings and probably the walls as well. Now...is that the free form system we’ve enjoyed in the EKs? No...it isn’t. However, we have to remember that “winning” and “points” aren’t a part of EKs and have to be a part of the CWs. So, as a first iteration, that kind of a static and limited system may be necessary to provide an even playing field and an efficient means of calculating victory points as the seasons progress to the end of the Campaign. Obviously, the more customization in terms of wall and building placement...the better. I’m ok with a static system to start as they get the bugs worked out in building, ranking, claiming and destroying each other’s assets.

I have a feeling city building is static

We will get a news update about how the city building feature in 5.110 will work soon enough. I don't see any reason to spin around in circles at this point in time. We don't know and can't change anything at all right now. We'll need to see what they come up with in a few weeks, and then we can give our feedback and start planning a revolution or announce world peace or whatever.

I really don't like leveling, One of the reasons I backed Crowfall back in the day was there wasn't the usual "kill one hundred whatever" but it looks like the community wanted active progression so ACE implemented it. Anyway, the post opener doesn't have a problem just with the leveling part. He also doesn't like gathering or crafting in the game. He just want pvp ...

My best guess would be the years that ACE has specifically marketed Crowfall as not having leveling. Not saying that games cannot change designs along the development path, but you were wondering why.

I have a feeling city building is static

Which doesn't really mean city building , it's going to be like Guild wars two where you just escort caravans to build static strongholds . Unfortunately this isn't fun compared to having free building like in Shadowbane.

hi ive watched alot of videos on the game. after realizing it was in a playable state finally i decided to check it out and make a few suggestions. This game is designed around its open world base capture pvp. So then for a game thats centered around that i feel its just a mess to have to lvl up first. i find it useless that theres a crafting system or gathering system in this game. it takes away from the most important hook line and sinker which is the PVP. sure people dont wanna pvp all day everyday. That's what other games are for. Take a break go play something else. I find the best way to feel out your own character is to just play it rigorous repetition. i suggest making this kinda like a battle royal in the respect that it already is one w.o these other systems added in. combat isnt impactfull enough to have fun vs mobs for 2 hours or however long it takes to hit max lvl. i feel like im playing several different games when i should only be playing the one. i feel like the game is tryin to do to much at once and a simpler game would appeal to the mass's more than a game tryin to do it all.

If you don't like crafting or harvesting and are only here for the thrill of the fight, that's fine. Join an established guild. If you're good at PvP and able to pull your weight doing only that, they'll be happy to keep you in gear. The logistics of harvesting & crafting and the player driven economy have been core elements of the game design since the Kickstarter; it's not going away. If anything, the loot gear from tribes is a diversion from the original concept. Thanks to that change, players like you that have zero interest in creating gear are able to gear up in good gear (but not great gear) without ever picking up a tool or trading with any other players. Harvesting and crafting is and has always been optional, as long as you are willing to work with others.

Ninja, I understand where you are coming from in regards to just wanting to pvp and not deal with the crafting and gathering aspects of the game as I had a similar mindset. In regards to crafting, I would say I dont enjoy doing it but the crafting system is well done and enjoyable for other people and being it is the only way to get high gear and vessels. Gathering, I dont enjoy doing it but I will do it in regards to getting better equipment or helping out a guild. There are other means of getting crafting items which is where I would specifically hunt people gatherin or crafters transporting goods. It could provide huge amount of resources in a small amount of time ( example someone gathering for 1 hour and I come by and kill them which maybe was 10mins of my personal time) I would do this most of the time. Other means of getting armor and weapons and vessels is via player vendors or guilds. Sell all your items you got from killing gathers or crafters for gold, use that gold to buy, rinse and repeat ( this is what I did) In regards to escort missions, this is different compared to other games. It's in regards to caravans which will be released next update and more information will be released. These caravans are a form of transporting crafting materials such as stone or ores from the Point of Interest ( High level Gathering Nodes) back to a fort or keep. This means if you have a group of players waiting to ambush these Carvans and if you kill them and the people protecting them you can score a large amount of resources for crafting or selling them off for gold. It's a form of small scale pvp which it seems you prefer more than large guild 50v50 battles. A majority of the time I would just provide protection for the people gathering and I would still get some for myself as I provided protection. This games pvp is very complex even though it may look simple. I have been playing for 3 years now and the way you build your character, discipline, type of gear you build and understanding the characters your playing can really make a difference. I can add more if you have questions.

Nothing that could be construed as "pay to win" would be ever be monetized here because the community would revolt; most likely skins and convenience items only. To speak to crafting in CF more philosophically, this game was intended to be an end-to-end throne war where teams don't just PvP for the sake of PvP but they do so to take charge of critical resource points and the like in order to get the best materials and then, in turn, the best gear to keep the machine moving. The DNA of this game is meant to force players of different styles to work together to accomplish all that can be done, and that ESPECIALLY includes crafting. Don't panic though. In your case, you sound like you prefer PvP exclusively and you should be able to achieve that; however, if you want to be any good then you will have a strong team behind which will certainly include crafters and gatherers to set you up with good gear. You can train 2 of 3 trees at a time (Combat, Gathering/Harvesting, Crafting) and most who are all about the PvP will choose to train Combat and Harvesting trees (whether you make use of your harvesting skills is between you and your future guild, some will require you pitch in and some may not care). You can skip crafted gear if you want and use PvE drops and operate in a silo, but the crafted gear is so much better that you will start to get steamrolled once everyone else is on good gear, and even PvP can only be done expertly with good gear AND a good team using skills symbiotically. In short, there is a lot here to have fun with so I'd recommend finding a guild (important for knowledge transfer) and just jumping on in and see how it will work for you, and do so with a grain of salt because we have big new hotness coming soon that should include most of the rest of the go-live systems that are not in the current LIVE version for play testing

I do not have as much issue with leveling -- or progression in other ways specifically myself, but rather with what activities are required to progress. GW2 and TESO have both provided a path for progression via PvP. It seems like a solved problem so am a bit confused why it is still an issue here. Obviously, that is one of the reasons we are here and providing feedback! I have zero issue with PVE, crafting, or survival aspects being in the game for those that want it. I just do not want to be forced to PvE or craft just to PvP in a PvP game. What i hope we can do is have PvP objectives for those that are still working on their advanced vessels. A few folk bring up the low leveling time, but i'm still not convinced that a white vessel has a purpose in PvP right now other than to add to the lag. I've been that white vessel for a few fights and felt guilty for not being able to contribute much.

We are husband and wife. Whats more interesting if you really are a staff member would be seeing that the same credit card was used for both accounts.lol. theres no prerequisite to having an opinion about a game we just picked up. I watched vids for hours before i finally hit that buy now button x2! We were so excited to get in and start pvping everything that moved. Then.... Surprise lvling on allods no pvp and if u wanna heal u have to craft by chopping trees for bandages..... I hate crafting Compleatly and thoroughly with every fiber of my being. To be forced pushed me away to be told no pvp for you rn go lvl. Also pushed me away. Im sorry but i just cant seem to devote even a couple hours to this game for that purpose. Its ok tho its still in development and i got time. I invested a lil bit but if they want my real investments things will need to change. Suggesting a more stream lined approach seemed my best move.

I agree with you ninja simpler game and less crap would be better. A more streamlined game with less distractions and more pvp. I really dislike that we have to play on a different server till we lvl to 20. Why cant we choose to jump right in to the action, even as noobs. I have been playing mmo's for years and don't need my hand held.

    Is Crowfall Next?

If by 3 projects, you are referring to the Artisan Engine, that is on hold until after launch. I think it's pretty obvious by their work on this milestone that Crowfall is their priority. Yeah, the game has taken longer than expected, but there are a lot of reasons to explain it that don't involve conspiracy theories. Redoing combat twice and the race/class split were among the biggest reasons. Beyond that, I'm sure there are a lot of things that they didn't anticipate. Predicting the future is really, really hard.

    Is Crowfall Next?

I've been following MMOS for 20 years. None of the titles you mentioned I've backed because none of those devs looked like they know what they are talking about. I did back Star Citizen and 2 years ago I got my money back because I can't play FPS games (I get dizzy) otherwise I still think it has chances. I did back Crowfall from day one as almost every single idea I heard from the devs I was in agreement with. I still am to this day, not with all ideas but with most. Can it fail? Absolutely! Do I think it will fail? If performance can deliver 150 people fighting at a decent framerate then it will be a success. Will I like every single feature? Doubtfully. Will I Play it? Absolutely.

    Dev Diary: The Winged Knight

In Jan Q&A we've been teased with 'loads of info on 5.110' over the next few weeks - and we got what we got - bad communication on ACE. In Feb Q&A It's been said it's coming and it will be all in one load. So we (the active community) need to hang in there as 5.110 is coming. Could be March but it's coming.

    Dev Diary: The Winged Knight

This made me laugh really hard - First the News and after this thread - Thank you ❤️ I can feel the frustration in the active community, but these kind of responses will generate equal amounts of frustration to ACE as well and the result is just an increasing gap between the two - that will help nobody in the end. IMO Problem is not with ACE - Problem is with the active community. Let me try to explain my pov. ACE is not making/marketing this game to the 500-1000 people bothering to keep a close eye on this game. If they would do that then I would wholeheartedly agree with every post in this thread. ACE is releasing an information flow for the masses - and the fact that there are Wartribes in the game is old news for very few people. If you are part of the active community then you obliviously care about Crowfall. Then for a moment put your self in ACE's shoes and try to understand their perspective. I get equally frustrated by the 'funny' marketing news and even more frustrated that I need to pacify my own guild, but every time I do the above exercise then I see the value in the current approach. Patience is a virtue! Yours,

    My input

Not really. There will be NPCs that give you tasks that can earn points for your guild/faction within the campaign, but nothing like traditional quests. I would expect there to be more things to improve the new player experience, to help give players a bit more direction when just starting out, but that will likely be after the next milestone.

    My input

I understand that this is a pvp game, and that everything we do is to support the pvp aspect. chasing harvested loot is dumb. also, I don’t know if it’s just due to pre-alpha but I can’t play in Elisia because my FPS drops to 10. I don’t have that problem any where else. also harvesting tools break way too easy.
  43. 1 point
    Arkade

    My input

They've mentioned the possibility of a vacuum type ability to gather up the harvesting loot, though personally, I like the mechanic as is. It's like breaking a pinata. Regarding harvesting tools, there are many ways to make your tools last longer. For starters, better tools will have more durability. There are 4 ways you can craft tools: 1) Basic tools and 2) Sturdy basic tools are both made via the same recipe in the J menu. The difference is in what type of wood you use. If you use knotwood, you will get a regular basic tool. If you use any other type of wood, you will get a sturdy basic tool, which will have more durability and therefore last longer. 3) Intermediate tools can be crafted at the General crafting table or at the Runemaking table. Both tables are in the crafting area of the temple. Intermediate tools give you +10 to the associated harvesting profession and they have even more durability than the sturdy basic tools. 4) Advanced tools can be crafted at a Runemaking table. Without any training, disciplines and/or gear, you aren't likely to create an advanced tool that is better than an intermediate one. However, advanced tools can have more types of stats, and much higher stats, than intermediate tools. They can also have significantly higher durability. You need advanced tools to harvest the highest rank nodes. In addition to improving your tools, you can also increase the amount of time your tools last by reducing tool decay. This can be done in a couple ways. First, by passive training. There are skill nodes that will reduce the amount of decay your tools suffer when harvesting specific things. Second, you can equip a Villein exploration discipline which will reduce tool decay by 50%. These disciplines can only be crafted and require a Villein exploration soul. You can buy the soul and/or discipline from another player, or you can harvest the soul yourself and craft the discipline at a runemaking table. Refer to this link for information about how to obtain the souls: https://murderinc.guildtag.com/wiki/exploration-souls/ Necklaces can also be crafted with tool decay reduction. Refer to the jewelcrafting tab at this link for more information: http://winterblades.net/crafting-combinations/ Crowfall is an MMO and as such, there is a progression. There are a lot of things that you aren't going to be good at when you first start, but you can improve them through training, disciplines and gear. Just equipping a Villein discipline and using advanced tools will make a huge difference.

In the context of a required sub, if you have 10 people in your guild not paying a subscription, you don't have 20 people in your guild. You have 10. That's very different than having 20 people in your guild versus 20 people in APE's guild and APE's guild winning a contest because his players were 'premiere' players and your guys were 'basic' The binary access system, be it a sub or straight buy to play with regular expansions is essentially fair as everyone actually playing the game has the exact same rules applies to them. Everyone not paying isn't playing the game and as such doesn't really matter in a balancing context.

Feedback after a couple test sessions

Hello, a small feedback after a couple test sessions in the past days. I played the game already at least a year ago. I am aware this is still pre Alpha, so my criticism of mechanics and the like is to be taken with a (big) grain of salt 😀 I reached about level5 (or 6?) so did not see much yet, and I only played in God's Reach. Now the game is much prettier, and the experience is much smoother. I think we had the opportunity before to test random recipes to see if something happens, I couldn't find it again but I liked it at the time. It feels weird to have to use wood to craft a pickaxe, even a level3 one. Having to equip the right gathering tool each time I wish to gather something else is a bother, I hope we will be able to equip all gathering tools later on and just use the right one when prompted (like Guild Wars 2 does for example). I had trouble making the difference between things to gather with the pickaxe and the hammer, they all look like big lumps of stone, I can't understand why one would be gathered with a pickaxe and one with a hammer. I found different stones (level1 and 3), they looked different enough that I know that I will differentiate them with time. I found different trees, but even the level1 looked different from one another. By itself it's not a problem, what bothers me is that different kind of trees gave me different woods. Fir and oak are different kind of trees that should give different woods, I know it's a game but it bothered me enough that I write about it. Combat does not give many options yet (remember, I'm not very high level) but feels ok. The leveling once logged off is pretty cool, I barely used the skill trees yet but they look intelligently made (going from one skill to another made sense). Still, despite all the bad points I wrote about I had fun and I'll keep playing 😁 The UI is mostly clear, but I have a bunch of things to sacrifice to the gods and I have no idea where, and couldn't find how to do it ingame.
