  14. It's still written in the FAQ that the projectiles are supposed to move realistically in the world and be submitted to physics like all the other objects. However in the FAQ we can also still read about friendly fire and destructible terrain and those features seem to be in limbo, or at least we've not been given many details about them for more than a year. I hope that we'll not get aim assist in Crowfall. I don't know how FCS work, but in general I prefer to aim and calculate things by myself, even if it means missing my shots more often. I'm bad at FPS games but I wouldn't want the client to compensate for my lack of mechanical skills.

  16. I think that the comments posted on mmorpg.com can be pretty useful to get an idea on how people perceive Crowfall. Many users have the impression that the game doesn't offer any substantial PvE activities and that the non-combat systems are an after thought or an attempt to lure PvEers into the game. Other users pointed out that they believed ACE changed their plans after realizing that a fully PvP game wouldn't work. Hopefully once the game launches it will be easier for everyone to understand what Crowfall is all about.

  19. 6 months after launch on NA servers, I'd like to see about 500K active players, and I expect between 100K and 250K active players.
  20. I understand it, and as I've written already, they hired more people in 2003 to go in full production, and at launch they had 35 developers. If they had around 30 developers working on the game for 6 years, which is half of the total development, it seems incorrect to say that in average there were 5 developers working on the game. If I compare the total number of programmers and engineers who worked on DFO vs. those who worked on Crowfall, and the total time of development (or any other measure), it makes sense to me that DFO team achieved to have all those cool features while it'd take lot of extra work to get them right in Crowfall. It's basically the only game I know that achieved anything comparable to that, thanks to its specialized and highly optimized engine, most likely a very good server tech, a very long development and many programmers.
  21. Fair point and in my defense I was preparing the table I posted above which divides the workforce in a more comparable way. There are indeed more than 60 developers listed in the credits of DFO I've linked above. The 8 years comes from my interpretation of what is written on the Wikipedia page, which mentions that on "29 August 2001, Razorwax announced the development of Darkfall and launched its official website." and that it got released in February 2009. It's not mentioned as far as I know on this page that the development began before 2001, but I agree that I could have taken more precautions and checked different sources.

  23. At the very beginning there were 3 developers. In 2003 they started hiring for "full production". Full production lasted for 6 years. At the end of the development there were 35 developers. I guess that we're far from "it probably had averagely 5 devs working on it". Crowfall has 3 engineers and 3 programmers and the development was expected to last for about 4 years. (DFO = 12 years) And they're using Unity.
