Arkade got a reaction from JamesGoblin in Why all the barriers to participation in the economy?
Everything was wiped for 5.8, at the same time they seriously reduced the amount of gold we were able to get. Previously, we could kill boars outside the temple and get 20-60 gold from each. Now gold only comes from humanoid mobs, and at reduced rates, though the war tribes seem to be a little better in 5.9.

They have changed the XP curves in 5.9. I would expect that even legendary vessels would get XP at level 29 from rank 10 mobs. We'll see once the campaign comes up, I guess.

    1. As Arkade mentioned, you can add vendors to the faction temples and free cities in both God's Reach and campaign worlds, so no EK necessary. With the new AFK timers shutting down EKs, player malls are in a bad place. Previously, there were player run malls that would allow independent players to add their own vendors; most recently, Srathor's Lawn and Aerynth Traders were the big names.
    2. When gold was made scarce, vendor maintenance rates were not adjusted. We've made that point, hopefully it stays on ACE's radar for a future balance pass.
    3. We've repeatedly requested the ability for owners of vendors to be able to place buy orders for basic resources, allowing indy players to sell their harvested goods to player vendors. There's some significant development that needs to happen before we can get that functionality, and it's not a priority item for this phase of development, but they know we want it.

You're stuck with that in God's Reach, for now, but when the new campaigns come up (later today or tomorrow), you will be able to pick whichever faction you want there.

Arkade got a reaction from Surelia in How do you get disciplines?
Disciplines are very much in flux right now. There are different ways to obtain them depending on the type of discipline.
There are vendors in the back of the market in the temple that sell some of the exploration disciplines, as well as crafting majors and a handful of minors.
Minor disciplines also drop from war tribes, but in God's Reach, I don't think you'll find anything other than the green quality discs, which are the same ones they sell on the vendor. You'll need to wait until the campaign comes up and kill higher ranked war tribes to get the other minor discs. Minors will drop off the elites, which are pretty easy to solo, but you'll have better odds of getting minors from the boss mobs, particularly the group and raid boss mobs.
The other exploration discs, the ones not sold on the vendor (Villein, Lookout, Connoisseur, etc.), can be obtained via harvesting. To do this you need to have an advanced runetool that has been imbued with a polished soulgem (soulgems come from harvesting ore, but you have to have the training for it in Exploration Basics, and they can be polished at a jewelcrafting station). The only way to imbue a runetool with a soulgem is to have the Runemaking Techniques minor discipline equipped. If you have the disc equipped, you will see a slot for the soulgem in the Harvesting Runetool recipe (at the Runemaking Station). Once you have the runetool, you need to harvest rank 6 or higher nodes to get soul essences and the exploration souls (soul of the villein, soul of the lookout, etc.). God's Reach doesn't have any nodes above rank 5, so again, you'll need to wait until the campaign comes up.
Major disciplines work in a similar fashion, except they haven't been fully implemented yet. In 5.8.6, the majors dropped off the nighttime versions of the mobs, but they changed it so that instead of every mob in the world changing to the nighttime version every night, now they only change to that version when they are within 50 meters of a hunger crystal. In other words, there are far less nighttime mobs. The drops were only a stop gap until the intended content is complete.
Like the exploration discs, you will need soul essences from harvesting, but to get the Soul of Combat (Soul of the Blade Master, Soul of the Elementalist, etc.) you will need to capture a thrall. Thralls are not in game yet. You will need soulgems to capture thralls, so if you haven't trained soulgems yet, it might be a good idea to do so now.
So yeah, it's all pretty involved. In time, as more and more people collect these things, you should start seeing them for sale on player run vendors (players can place vendors in their faction temple, in the free city and in EKs). It's a good idea to hook up with a guild so that you have other people with which you can divide the labor, rather than trying to do everything yourself.

All of the packages give you instant access to the game on the LIVE server.
The test groups (alpha, beta) are only used to determine access to the TEST server when a new major milestone is released, but they didn't even bother with that when they put up 5.9. Right now, everyone has access to both LIVE and TEST. Normally when they put a new major release onto TEST, they start by inviting the pre-alpha groups, then the alpha groups, then the beta groups. Everyone usually gets access within a week or two at most. But like I said, they didn't do that for 5.9, so maybe they aren't doing it any more.

There will be a new campaign up soon, but it will be a short campaign and won't be a "Trial of the God's" campaign (ie. no rewards). This is just to further test 5.9 and fix any big issues. After that, they will put up new Trial of the God's campaigns.
For now, you can play in God's Reach. In the lobby, click on the ENTER button underneath the God's Reach section and enter that world. It's more for learning the game and hanging out between campaigns than actually competing against other players, and the highest rank mobs are only rank 7, so you'll have a hard time getting all the way to level 30, but you can harvest and level and play around a bit until the campaigns come up.
You can also play on the TEST server, which has the 5.9 milestone. To do that, you need to go to the download page and download the TEST client. It's a separate installation. The TEST server has vendors that give you a lot of free stuff, including a dust that you can use to level rapidly. It's a good place to test out the game and it has campaigns up, so you will find mobs and resources all the way up to rank 10.

Yes, the various kebab recipes give +1 plentiful to ore, stone, etc.
The skill training is under exploration. The very first node of the Excavation tree gives you +1 to ore, stone and graves. If you want more plentiful ore, for example, you need to go into the Ore Specialization tree. There are 5 branches, one for each type of ore. Each branch has nodes that give a total of +2 plentiful for that specific type of ore.

Plentiful harvest stats cap at 5 pips, or points, or whatever you want to call them. When you target a harvesting node, you will see a number of diamonds in the tooltip. That represents your plentiful harvest number with that particular node.
If you open your character sheet, click on the details button and go to the Explore tab, you can see all of your harvesting stats.
For plentiful harvest, you get 1 by default, and then there are buffs/debuffs based on the seasons. +2 for sprint, +1 for summer, -1 for fall and -2 for winter.
You can get a total of +3 from skill training. You can get +1 from the harvesting majors and you can get +1 each from potions and food. No matter how many sources you have, you can't have more than 5. That is the cap. So, fully trained in spring, using the appropriate major plus potions and food, you will still be at 5.

God's Reach is a campaign that doesn't end and there are no winners or losers. It has safe adventuring zones and lower rank mobs and resources. It's basically a place to learn the game, or to hang out between campaigns. When you log into the game, you will see 3 things you can select: Eternal Kingdoms, God's Reach and Campaigns. You can move between God's Reach and EKs without having to put stuff into your spirit bank. Everything that is in your inventory will travel with you.
Campaigns work differently. There isn't one currently up. They should be bringing a couple up (one in North America and one in Europe) as soon as 5.9 goes to live. Campaigns last a finite amount of time and has a winner. Before you join a campaign, make sure you move all of the stuff in your inventory, and all your equipped gear, into your spirit bank, otherwise it may be lost.
I don't think there will be a wipe for 5.9. They just wiped characters and items for 5.8. If they do wipe characters, obviously you will have to level again. If not, then yes, you just use whatever characters you already have, with whatever levels you have already earned.

Buying any of the early access packages will give you immediate access to the LIVE server for as long as Crowfall exists. The LIVE server has the current, live patch level and is up 24/7 (excluding maintenance periods).
TEST is where they will put new major patches before they go to LIVE. TEST is not always up, and you may not always have access to it when it is up. In the past, when they have had new milestones, they have put them on TEST and opened it to a limited number of people based on their test group, starting with the Pre-Alpha 1 group. Over the course of a week or two, they will normally get everyone access to it. Each early access package give you a different test group. The most expensive one puts you in the Alpha 2 group. The only reason that matters is for the TEST server, and only when new major milestones are being tested.
Right now LIVE is patched to 5.8.6 and TEST has 5.9. Everyone who has purchased the game currently has access to both. Keep in mind though that the game is still in Pre-Alpha. They are working hard to get it into Alpha, but it's still a little ways off. There are game systems that aren't in yet. The new player experience still needs work. And the game still needs a lot of polish. If you are expecting a completed game, you will probably be disappointed. But if you are okay with playing an unfinished game and want to both learn about the game and help make it better, then now is a good time to jump in.

1 - Leveling outside of a group can be painful, especially for a class that doesn't have self healing. Bandages don't really help much. Not getting XP from lower rank mobs when leveling a custom vessel makes it tough too. I think the extra XP requirements are enough without forcing us to fight higher rank mobs as well.
When gold was more plentiful and gave 1 xp per coin, it seemed like the sacrifice system would be a gold sink and that vet players would be able to use their gold to quickly level up new vessels. With the changes to gold, we are left with killing mobs and it has become too much of a grind. Sacrifice shards give too little XP. The lore drops from spiders are gone and the ones that drop from the war tribes are too hard to collect for the XP they give. Adjusting these things, and giving us alternate methods to gain XP (harvesting, crafting), should help.
One thing I would suggest is to add a sacrifice currency. You already have the sacrifice dust on TEST. Something like that, but where we can sacrifice items and turn them into the currency. That way, we can store it and trade it more easily, instead of storing a bunch of nearly broken gear so we can sacrifice them when we actually need them.
2 - I think necromancy is in a pretty good place. Other than now requiring the goggles, it hasn't fundamentally changed in a while, so we've been able to test it a lot. If anything, it might be necessary to look at the gap between a common, default vessel and a green vessel. Maybe the default vessel needs to be a little better.
3 - I prefer to make it myself if possible, because then I can be sure that it is tailor made to fit my needs, but that's probably true with anything.
4 - The biggest thing I guess is whether or not the Advantages and Disadvantages are still planned and when we might see them.

Just because you are leveling a new vessel doesn't mean you have to throw away your old one, unless you are out of character slots, in which case you can just fight on one of your other characters and level your new vessel on the side. Leveling a new vessel presents no more risk than leveling your original vessel. In either case, group up and you'll be more protected and level faster.
Players will never stop needing new vessels. Even if you have a legendary vessel, you can still get a better legendary vessel, or one that has a different mix of stats to better fit changes in your build. Even if you just want to use a different set of major disciplines, you'll need a new vessel. And you'll want a legendary vessel for every character that you play, possibly across multiple accounts. And there will be turnover in the game. Old players will leave and new players will join who will need lots of vessels.
As long as this game maintains a sustainable population, necromancers will have work.

It doesn't appear that the quality of the ambrosia is taken into consideration when determining the quality of the vessel. Is that an accurate statement? I know that at some point the crafting UI will be updated, but I would like to suggest that anything like this, where the quality of a subcomponent doesn't affect the quality of the item, be indicated in some way in the UI.
