  1. Personally, I think it's close enough. I've seen (and run) enough Kickstarters to know that the plan rarely survives first contact with post-funding development. The only Kickstarters that are exactly what they say they'll be are the ones that were already done before the campaign started.
  2. I've played less than an hour total since 2015 in various alphas. My soul has not yet been crushed by COVID-19 or other modern catastrophes. I'm looking forward to playing Crowfall regularly now that it's in Beta. Is my enthusiasm warranted, or will you destroy it? Let me know!
  3. Touching base here after basically being absent from the community for five years. What part does crafting and harvesting play now? Last I heard, it was going to be vaguely SWG-ish, in that it provided a significant backdrop to the big PVP battles. What's changed since then?
  4. Hey, friend. Haven't seen you around in... well, five years.

With Crowfall Beta now live, I'm looking to actually play regularly. You're the only Lantern Watch player that is still active, as far as I'm aware. Feel like regrouping?

Yeah, I'm pretty new to it too. I played a bit in the alpha, but not enough to get comfortable. And now the game's completely different, I'm sure!

I'm back and will be looking for a solid guild to play in. I honestly don't have the time or patience to run anything these days and some of the odd experiences with a couple others from before soured me on anything that even hints of drama, lol. I wanna craft, PvP and chill. Lmk how your experiences go! It's going to be a lot of learning for me come launch next week.

Same. I'll be playing a bunch today - I might just YOLO join a guild in-game rather than do my normal careful vetting.

  5. You mentioned that you miss not knowing anything when you start a game. This is why I (mostly) stopped paying attention to news updates for Crowfall; I already know that I'm going to play the game. I want to experience that sense of learning and exploring. Like you, I had that experience with Star Wars: Galaxies, and rarely since then.
  6. Based on the language... I would venture a guess that neither the "24/7 servers" nor the "removal of race restrictions" updates are it. They've already said that 24/7 test servers will be coming, so that wouldn't make sense as an announcement of this caliber. The removal of race restrictions would be more likely, since that's a huge change and one that has not yet been even suggested. The initial tease of a strangely-equipped murdeer would seem to support this. However, I don't think this particular update is going to be either. I honestly have no idea what it could be.
  7. Is there a Watch presence in the playtest sessions?
  8. Two people making an MMO? Normally I'd say yes, except that I backed Project Gorgon, which is also only two people. I'm cautious about Divergence Online, though. They're making use of an awful lot of SWG assets. That could be a lawsuit in the making.
  9. With the revelation that gods will play at least a minor role in the game mechanics of Crowfall, do you think we'll be able to place temples to specific gods in EKs? If so, how would you imagine they'd function?
  10. I like the art, and I like the concept even more. The idea that players will be choosing deities to align with as a game mechanic... I hope that's more than just a cosmetic choice. In fantasy settings generally, and in Crowfall in particular, gods tend to muck with mortal lives pretty frequently.
  11. Resources. By that, I mean the entire ecosystem around sampling, automated harvesting, random and never repeated resource generation, and so on. Only Firefall ever attempted anything like that, and Firefall dropped that system eventually.
  12. Joining the Slack channel is definitely a must going forward.
  13. Pathfinder Online just laid off everyone but three people and is seeking a buyer to continue development.
  14. Hey now, the Patriots won the Superbowl fair and square. And that little temper tantrum at the end of the game by whoever-it-was they played? Yeah, really professional. I pick the Pats to win again this year. =P
