Don't get your hopes up. I've yet to find a game with a decent Necromancer since EQ. I too was hoping there would be some form of dark arts mage, but... alas...

Women at the Olympic level generally perform to 90% of what men do. Hence, there is an overall physical advantage to men in almost every category (it's 3am, I am not getting specific, do your own research - it's there). So, really... There is no advantage to being smaller and weaker in up close combat... Realistically.

Maybe from a survival stand point you will live longer, burn less... Maybe? Idk. Please no. We don't need to get that specific with gender. Let's just keep the male/female stats the same.

Considering I have no desire to be some strange creature, the ranger is my calling. Played a scout in SB, this might be closer to one since the stalker is a ranged dps class. My scout in SB was masterfully crafted, never realized it until I had a group of 9 accuse me of stealing a rune and I systematically decimated all of them before making it back to safe ground. That was one of my most fond gaming memories. In fairness, I think only 6 decided to attack though if I remember right.

I look forward to having the opportunity to relive that.

Srsly tho, I didn't take that stupid rune. It was the stupid thief class and the rest of them believed him... The guy with the stealing abilities. Pfft.

In the same way I make the assumption that the bow is the Ranger's primary weapon based off of the picture - as other classes have their main weapons in the picture and that the bandit mask routinely and regularly implies stealth... I will hold out the Ranger will be a fun class and never-the-less my primary as all the other races/classes are meh.

Additionally, the stalker states "ranged DPS". That doesn't inspire much belief of utility like a specialist does. Even if they may have access to self-cloaking abilities, I doubt it will ever be on par with the utility of a "specialist".

NOW, with that said, we could all be misunderstanding what ArtCraft's perception of "specialist" is. I for one am looking forward to their explanation. I think in the end however, runes will fix everything.

it's 72 months of VIP, and yes you can redeem them for $15 each.  amber pledge was definitely a great deal for me, I got was able to get a small castle just from redeeming a bunch of stuff I didn't really want or need.

Don't think I have participated in as single test... Ever. The times are just flat ridiculous. I have more important things to do, work, education, dog schedule/routine, gym/physical fitness/training, vacation, travel, etc.. Life is busy, time is valuable and 6:30pm to 8:00pm, M-F is pretty unreasonable. Start it at 9PM during the week and I don't even know on the weekends. Need to figure out if its the same time every week, that would make it easier to drop it in the routine.

It also didn't help that I was turned off by the typical tryhard forum community that seemed to be developing. Create a PVP game and all the badasses of the world crawl out from their 8am-8pm - take it in the butt from everyone in society - cave holes, only to come here and lay down their trouser snake like they only wish they could in person (reminds me of the Dark Souls community) but worse because people felt entitled and special for being early. Thus I inevitably disagreed with some of the design decisions and the crappy combat (seriously, don't ask me though because I don't remember it's been so long).

The amount of money I spent vs everything listed is irrelevant tbh. More money can be made, more time cannot. If the game sucks at launch, I move on and at least I helped make it happen with a bit of cash flow.

Abrasive behaviors are probably more frequent on the forum of a game catering to the PvP crowd and I agree that it can get frustrating at times. That coupled with the freedom of expression we are generally given by ACE surely can lead to situations where some users are turned off. I still prefer the way it's done here vs. tyrannic environment where our posts are mysteriously disappearing, excessive user bans and general feeling of unfairness. Here we're free to criticize ACE, to talk poorly made socks (moderately), post images, opinions, go off-topic (reasonably) and we're not treated like we're in a Kindergarten. It's the 2 sides of the freedom coin I believe.

Meh, meh, meh... Good question. Realistically, having finite ammo will give a bump to skills like fletching and crafting. The downside is it will give a rather large advantage to melee classes, especially in the beginning of campaigns and force everyone to focus some of their skills on melee. This could be incredibly crappy in regards to classes like the duelist, stalker, or other bow type classes. To be fair, at this point, magic users should also have some form of ammunition to keep the playing field equal. If one should be forced to focus on melee, all should. Let's face facts, getting shot with a bullet or arrow - if not outright fatal - is enough to take someone off the battle field. This isn't a simulator, so arrows and bullets don't have that effect. The result is arrows and bullets will always be at a disadvantage unless there is infinite ammo.

I'd like to see a combination personally, use of a ammo slot to be filled with ammunition, but keep the ammunition infinite. This is a fantasy world after all, having to bring 600 arrows out to a combat situation, only to lose all of them on your first death would be a wonderful example of how to keep people uninvolved in pvp and more prone to running away and griefing.

This is all rambling a thought together, but I don't recall having ammunition in SB or DAOC and it worked out just fine.

    TL;DR
I support infinite ammo with reloads.

This is a nonsense argument. For two reasons, the first being there is a difference between being a hard core pvper and a hard core simulation player.

    Now onto the second...

Everything already has durability loss. A bow will deplete in durability, just as a sword. So what some want is for archers and firearm classes to have additional hardships. The end result, and the ONLY end result of this mechanic, is that all bow / gun classes will be forced outside of their spec for a mechanic that only effects them.

If they are going to implement finite ammunition, then magic, guns, and bows should require reagents and ammunition. Further that, swords should need to be re-sharpened after virtually every major battle in which medium armor or above was used. This requires a now hard core sentiment in that everything is truly brittle and finite as it is in the real world. Now you are funding a lot of crafters and blacksmiths as a blacksmith can sharpen your sword better than a field stone can.

This is the only way I see a finite world working.

I'm good with it either way, I will macro my arrows out or run a program while I watch tv, it's all good. I did it in Darkfall. The end result is I just didn't play DF nearly as much as I played SB.

No. I don't want my damage or utility reduced because of pets. I prefer the old school approach to rangers and having an AFFINITY to animals, not having animals as combat pets. IE, animals regard rangers as neutral or higher as opposed to fighting for them.

The problem you have with free movement, is you get Darkfall. A bunch of noobs running around swinging a sword, with no weight to it, willy nilly seeing who can be the most annoying maneuver-er on the field. To have believable combat, you need weapons with weight. Having weapons with weight implies you cannot run full speed, swinging a sword in a down-left angle and expect to hit your target. If you've ever punched another person (with real force), you will know that unless you put your entire body into it (legs, hips, upper body, arm), you are not going to do anything (and end up hurting yourself and getting ktfo) if you do not do this - unless you are Bruce Lee. Same thing with a sword or other melee weapon. You need to have form. Form = power.

Now, I am not implying I want anything to be realistic. I am saying that I want believable combat. Not locking animations will = unbelievable and spammy combat. What I find annoying with some developers is they tend to root you until your animation is finished. Hence, animation root. In Dark Souls 2, if you go to break their guard or stab forward, you can cancel your attack (up to the point of commitment). This leads to more advanced techniques within combat and also requires players to recognize player behavior in addition to the different types of attacks a weapon can commit too.

    It creates believable combat.

Also, to clarify my noob comment on Darkfall players, simple reality is I don't care how much skill someone thinks they have... They are playing a game that makes them look like a noob because the combat is not believable. It's just what they have to make due with. Kind of like how I have no choice but to hear the #*$)& kid above my GF's apartment run from one side of the room to the other and jump stomp the floor as hard as he can for the next 2 hours. It's just what I have to make due with.
E: Because PKing RL kids is illegal.
