Toss them in too! It would be great to have a few "vintage" SB races added.

Um...who else wants them to be a playable race? They look great, I want to play as one!

I dunno I've gotten to know humans pretty good and I've learned to never trust them, especially when it involves assets and extraspecially when those assets are in a PVP game.

Also, asking PVP MMORPGers to pool money to buy a thing is a recipe for drama. If I've learned one thing from leading guilds,  it's never trust a guild leader.

What this guy said. Good questions. I've long held faith that JTodd being JTodd would find a way to strongly nudge (not to be confused with a push of course) players to allow for PVP in the EK or load an EK into a campaign somehow. Deep down I hope the safe EK is just an option for players that was a safe space but the majority allow PVP.

This has been the criticism since kickstarter.  There seems to be no basis for the economy to circulate between the EKs and CWs
I'm sure that if the community demands rulesets that allow for JTC'S "uncle bob" to import all his stuff, then on some CWs it will be enabled.
They could also make the faction rulesets full import or create an opt-in pvp ladder system for the EKs to give them additional purpose and to get the economy to actually circulate.

The import / export concept to me has always been kinda screwy. Exactly how much will you be able to import and export, and why would you want to import more than you can equip? Especially considering you won't (or apparently won't) have control of where you'll end up on campaign start. Loading in with a bunch of goodies only to be surrounded by a bunch of unpleasant people that kill you and take them seems like a bad strategy. Will we have the same 2 minute grace period before we can equip our gear?
The way I look at it is you actually get significantly use of the ships. They're front and center, while EKs are kinda "just there" - off to the side. Ships and vessels are a better comparison.

I have a couple of concerns about this:
It sounds like you're expecting guilds to trust their guild leader enough to send him/her real world money (almost as much as the cost of the game) to purchase group housing for the guild.  This doesn't sound likely, and it doesn't sound like it's going to generate much income for ACE as a result.  It seems far more likely that a guild will have a couple of big spenders who buy group housing and the guild leader allocates them space in the leader's EK (which becomes the guild EK by consensus) to plop it down.  And that group housing is very unlikely to be a mountain citadel.  Yes, all this can be made from in-game materials, but exporting the crap materials in quantities vast enough to build a mountain citadel seems even less likely. It still feels like EKs are divorced from the game proper.  You keep saying there's an inter-relation, but we're not seeing it.  It's glorified oversized instanced housing.  Which is fine in and of itself - lots of games do well with instanced housing and prettifying them via the cash shop.  But that's not what you're advertising.  You're saying the EKs are a vital part of the economy, and that doesn't seem to mesh at all with what you're saying about import and export rules on CWs.  If there are a lot of no-import CWs, then EKs and items produced there are effectively meaningless.  And if that stuff is meaningless, then exporting goods from CWs is also meaningless.  And given that increased exports are the rewards for winning a CW, we run into the case where winning only matters for bragging rights (again, that's probably good enough reason to try to win, but it doesn't match what you're advertising).    It feels like CWs are going to need to have fairly generous import rules if the EKs and production of goods in EKs, and exporting goods is to matter.

Something I'm not clear on but am intrigued by is...what character do we play in the EK?

Like, not the crow spirit obviously. Do we make a character for the EK or can we load any of our archetypes for our EK?

Less curious but a thought, will EK PVP have its own archetypes and are they more powerful in the battleground versions?

Looks great, still prefer characters but am willing to try this. Hopefully it "feels" good (like it becomes my avatar) and not like a space ship or mech suit.

So, I could be wrong here but I think it was stated that vessels will not be lootable during the live stream (Yay!) and then Todd immediately added to that they were looking into making vessels lootable in the Dregs (Meh.).   This matters because at least, for the most part, no one can "take" your character from you and is, at least, a step that might ameliorate some of the issues created by Crows and Vessels.  Any consolation or consideration, no matter how small, toward those who have RPG tastes is a welcome addition and I think will make the game better for the majority.

Those numbers are difficult to project.

How many backers will be VIP (primary revenue source for MMO's that don't heavily push a cash shop).

What sort of infrastructure will Crowfall need to run effectively? How much will they virtualize to save on infrastructure costs?
    (Servers are expensive, yo)

What sort of load balance/cluster setup will they use. (one physical server =\= one campaign world but rather hosting a handful of smaller-pop campaigns) What is the annual rate of failure of each link in the chain (because servers and routers under heavy use fail, more often than we want to admit)

How much of the above, basic, examples will they shoulder internally? How much will they pay a 3rd party to manage. (PaaS or Iaas)

So many variables that factor in when making cost estimates.

    Then you have staff costs.
Then overhead for their offices (rent, utilities, taxes)

    etc, etc, etc.

I wonder what number ACE needs to stay profitable and what numbers they project. We have what, 20k, 30k? Just in backers. I'd imagine that doubles or triples with a clean well-received launch.
