  1. Sorry, but I have to laugh at all the people in this thread calling the combat of Wildstar "skilfull"
  2. I'm not asking you to like it or not. I'm just trying to tell you that the description you gave of it was incorrect.
  3. You're using a video that looks like its from beta showing a brand new player who is vertically swinging his sword at a stagnant mob while strafing in circles and then basing on this to describe how the games combat was like? Again, if you want to make a description of how the combat system of the game was then refer to a video thats depicting actual combat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4bwKsk0toI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jG6QDsAfLTQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rd8nSLOXlM4
  4. I think you're maybe confusing DF for another game (perhaps Mortal Online?) Since Darkfall had very smooth fast paced combat, that wasn't trying to be realistic at all. Heres a snap of the combat in Darkfall Online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rd8nSLOXlM4
  5. Completely agree. Based on some of the replies in this thread it seems like Crowfall has attracted more old people with awful mouse-hand-eye-coordination than a retirement home.
  6. I doubt it'll ever become that much similar to Darkfall Online in terms of raw fps skill and twitchyness...They would never be bold enough to unleash it in even half the scale that DFO did. But nevertheless this is still a step in the right direction towards raising the skill ceiling.
  7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4bwKsk0toI - Just as an example for you to see one side of the so called "extremes". This game had the highest skill cap of any mmo ever to exist. I'm not saying Crowfall should try to mimic this, because its both not physically possible with their game nor what we really want for the type of game Crowfall is. We want a middle ground though, as the vision they showed today for the combat looked dull and showed a clear lack of innovation and courage to move out of the comfort zone of the cookie-cutter MMO's.. It's what we were expecting or hoping for, at all.

    Vanilla Wow

There is actually a finished version of vanilla wow thats already been made. And it has the same population of a normal retail WoW server which is insane.. https://www.wow-one.com/ - there you go (they have a burning crusade server too, which is currently a work-in-progress as not all raids are released yet) Vanilla/TBC WoW and Darkfall Online were my two favorite MMO's as well. Which is odd because they're almost absolute contrasts to each other.
  9. I'm just worried about what we've seen in these clips. It looks like a repeat of the current generation of MMO's where gear is everything and player skill comes in 2nd or possibly even 3rd after build. Large cone melee swings with what seems like a massive width/range and 360 degree melee spells.. There seems to be very little room for player skill to shine.. I want to show you a clip from Darkfall Online, because it had the most fun, enjoyable, complex and challenging combat that I've ever seen from any MMO in my 20 years, where coordination, player skill, teamwork & clever use of the surrounding environment was alpha and omega ( ignore the crappy UI) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4bwKsk0toI Please take a step back and reevaluate what kind of combat you want in Crowfall. What we've been shown today follows the current trend of MMO's and doesn't offer anything new and refreshing, at all.... and this genre badly lacks developers who has the courage to step out of the comfort zone.
  10. Completely agree with everything you said.
  11. I'm not only talking about the telegraphs (which I completely agree needs to go). We saw a lot of AoE 360 degree melee attacks too. If you allow for too much of this the game is going to turn into an AoE spam fest that leaves no room for skillful play. The melee swing cones looked extremely large both in width and range as well. The general impression I got from watching this teaser is that their focus on true FPS skillful based combat might be very low.
  12. How is anything supposed to improve or switch towards a different direction if people can't raise their concerns? You can keep shouting "PRE ALPHA/PRE BETA/BETA FOOTAGE" all year long until release day. But if you do that not much is going to change and we're going to be left disappointed realizing how blind fanboyism made this game turn into a inferior product. He raises a valid point as it showed us what general direction they want to head with the combat though, which to me is worrisome.
  13. You're right. And it sucks This is a huge let down - and most likely a deal breaker for me. I guess Star Citizen is now the only promising MMO left in development that actually has the courage to reintroduce skill based FPS combat back into the market :/ It sucks, because the concept of this game sounded amazing.
  14. I'm extremely disappointed by the combat we saw in that presentation of the game. Huge AoE cones and a whirlwind attack that looks like something straight out of WoW. Meh, I'm back on the edge with this project again.
