Nyt got a reaction from Albert Rock in An Invitation.
I think it's way too early to start forming non-guild... guilds or associations... or w/e you want to call the group.  Trade agreements don't even make sense until after the game is released and players are more established.  Even then, there will be a bit of time before the first campaign win.

    But, that's just me.

My problem with them though... is you try and form a group.... next thing we know, kampfbock tries to form a different group... etc.  It's just waaaaaayyyyy tooooo early for this.

Interesting to hear that the number of concurrent users in a server could be around 2,000-2,500, allowing battles of hundreds of people.

I like that they explained how the camera views work. I think that seeing most of the time our character in 3rd person view is really important, especially with all the emphasis put on the archetypes and animations. Even when the world is grey and bland, our characters make it feel polished and radiant. And when we need to get in buildings or near walls and the camera gets in the way, we can always zoom-in.

Nyt reacted to jtoddcoleman in Q: "Can you give us some Hunger Dome gameplay details?"
Q: What does the Hunger Dome map look like?
"Can we know a bit more related to the gameplay beforehand? Examples like: the scale of the Hunger Dome Map, the current mobility balance between the three archetypes?" - EDM

The map is large enough to support 16 teams (of 3) without them spawning on top of each other, but small enough that you won't be able to run a few minutes without hitting another group.

There is one Large Keep in the middle, a few forts, and a scattering of buildings.  All of them contain chests, in which we are spawning loot randomly.

The matches typically last around... 12 minutes, I think?  15 minutes is the max time before the Hunger Dome collapses and everyone dies, IIRC.

    In terms of mobility:

Knight is the slowest, Legionnaire has a (slightly) faster base move, Confessor is the most mobile due to her powers.
Reverse that order for how frail each one is in a 1-on-1 fight.

Knight does have a chain pull, which can be used to close the gap -- but it's not easy to target, and the cooldown keeps it from becoming a hellraiser movie.

Chain pull in action, from a test easier this week:

Tully (Legionnaire) running from Steven through the front gate of the Keep,

Steven (Knight) chain pulls him back.

Legionnaire's RETALIATE attack triggers, and he does a mule kick that sends Steven flying about 40 feet in the air to his death.

...one of the best moments we've had so far.

Nyt reacted to jtoddcoleman in Hunger Dome match: Tips & Tricks
Here are a few tips and tricks to help you survive longer in the Hunger Dome!

    - Healing rate is generally slow.  Scattered around the game you'll find a few CAMPFIRES (you can't miss them).  Stand near the campfire and you'll heal much faster.  Stand inside the fire and you'll die.

    - You can use drag and drop to equip your items, or use RIGHT-CLICK as a shortcut to equip an item directly from your inventory.

    - [sHIFT] key for sprint (seems obvious, but worth repeating).

    - Legionnaire: use the [C] key when you enter the match to get a burst of Rage -- otherwise, you won't be able to use any powers until you've built up some Rage with melee attacks.

    - [F] to can be used to open chests, but not to close them.  [ESCAPE] will close each window opened, in reverse order, until all windows are closed at which point it will return you to Targeting Mode.

    -  Once you die, you can use the death cam to follow other players and watch the match until it ends.  You can only follow your teammates until they are dead, at which point you can follow anyone.  The blue arrow buttons cycle forward and backwards through the surviving players.

    - You can swap between Targeting Mode and Mouse Mode any time using the [ALT] key.  This even works in Death Camera mode, so that you can use Targeting Mode to get a better view of the action.
Good luck, and see you in the Dome!

Sometimes, you have no control on timing and an executive decision must be made ahead of time.  Ace was confident that the community would support their decision and funding would come through.

I can see players running this as a brothel and making some $ in their EK.  They've done quite well RPing along similar lines in SWToR and other MMOs.

The problem with that model is:

It splits the $ across multiple, making it take longer to reach any single goal If a goal is never met, they would need to refund the $ that was donated to the unmet goal Backers don't know what the devs need in order to utilize the $ in the best way possible... this would optimally work in the early donation stretch goals where they are all feature based, not at this point of the process where we're on the last feature goal. After this next goal, just let Ace determine the best use of the funds.  Like Star Citizen, we're done with stretch goals... everything now goes to the goal of getting it done.

Unless there is significant value to having multiple characters under an account, Players (that can afford the $) will just have multiple accounts.  Those looking to infiltrate other guilds, most likely already have multiple accounts.

Nyt got a reaction from Steven Yannic in You Can Only Build Cities On Specific Plots In Campaigns?
The differences between the two are:

the gameplay rules:  CWs are bound by seasons and time, with a victory condition, while the EK is permanent, without a victory condition, and the players define the rules (e.g. PvP) and who controls the territories.  POIs and territories within a CW are fought for, while they are assigned to players by the EK owner. world design: CWs are generated/built by Ace and to support the CW rules along with establishing and naming the territories, while the EK is built by the player however they wish and with whatever they want to name their territories. maximum world size: EKs are far smaller in size than a CW. plot types and building structure availability: the CW will obviously have far more options than the EK ever will. Otherwise, objects and functionality will most likely be the same, except that the EK has a limited/reduced scope.  I'd be surprised if they'd waste resources developing 2 separate games when they can do it with 1 development effort and just toggle specific features per object on whether it's used in a EK or particular CW.

The route they're taking is very smart, since they're focused on building the CW and it's very easy to just expose some of it to players for their EK, without additional development.  It's the same system, but just a difference on who controls it.

If you want to understand how the building system will work, and how the CW may be generated, and the various building options we may have available.... learn everything about the EK.... regardless if you have any interest in your personal EK.  The info is actually relative to the functionality within the CW as well, even if some of it will be handled for you.

... and all of that can be done within the current plot and "footprint" system they have designed.  Now, things are subject to change.. and one thing that they have made clear in recent months, is that strongholds will be pre-placed in CWs.  Most likely because they're part of the plot system and not free-floating structure entities like cottages.  Players don't have plot level access within CWs, like they do in the EK.

One easy solution to all of this, is to wrap all signatures as spoilers.... or at least an option for users to toggle.

Forum signatures aren't the content... they should be minimal enough to not clutter the topic, while creative enough to represent the user's guild or other artwork.  Your avatar represents yourself.  I highly recommend 50 px height (75 px max) with a width of 500 or 600 px.  Otherwise, once CF releases, we're going to see 90% of the forum threads about every player's guild/character stats.... which results in a forum directory about characters rather than content.

    Just thinking ahead...

Excellent game, most players that have purchased it, have spent more time playing this game than most AAA games (for the $25 I spent on it and the number of hours played so far, it's a steal).  It's highly addicting!

The development team has been doing an incredible job every week, updating the community, updating the game, patching, etc.... adding new ideas presented by the community, while also staying on track for their release next year.  They've given back to the community with contests and bounties.

Even if you're not interested in survival games, this is an excellent example of how an Indie early access game should be like... and also a great example that new games can become successful without kickstarter.

Like I told scree in Slack, if you want to understand how the building will work in the CW, you can't ignore the EK FAQ and info drops.  Ace has mentioned numerous times that they first develop for the CW and then provide those same things for players to use within their EKs.  So, in particular to placement, read the EK FAQ #16 and #17: https://crowfall.com/#/faq/eternal-kingdoms

We will have "free-placement" within the bounds of these footprint grids, which you can see an example green grid in this image:

This would be better done as a feature list with voting up features that players prefer, than to tie it directly into crowdfunding.  It's already done in many non-MMO applications, especially in SaaS.

It's not that easy once $ is involved. My answer above applies to this.

Again, my answer above applies to this as well.  How SC and CF has done the KS and post-crowdfunding is the right course of action... lay out their vision and if the people like it, they'll donate.  SC, being the first major successful crowdfunded game went a little too far and offered too many scope expanding features in their stretch goals.  We just don't want to see CF go that far.
