Unless there is significant value to having multiple characters under an account, Players (that can afford the $) will just have multiple accounts.  Those looking to infiltrate other guilds, most likely already have multiple accounts.

If you enjoy PVP, why do you keep trying to make combats as short as possible? When I enjoy something I like it to last.

Basically, you'll either be part of a "mega" guild or a "merc" guild.  Take your pick.

The mega guilds will have an entire CW duration objective, while the merc guilds will scale back their objectives to a day-by-day or week-by-week objective focus.

Forum signatures aren't the content... they should be minimal enough to not clutter the topic, while creative enough to represent the user's guild or other artwork.  Your avatar represents yourself.  I highly recommend 50 px height (75 px max) with a width of 500 or 600 px.  Otherwise, once CF releases, we're going to see 90% of the forum threads about every player's guild/character stats.... which results in a forum directory about characters rather than content.

A PvP sandbox, is still a sandbox.  A MOBA is far from a sandbox.  Sorry, you can't justify this one. lol

That was when they were wanting a full barter system, which they recently announced that Ace will be collecting minted coins as payment for Ace services (e.g. upkeep and in-game store), which is a common barter item.  Otherwise, it would be difficult to implement an automated system for their side... and a logistical nightmare for store pricing if they didn't settle on a common item.

Ore bars are going to be the base value, since it can be used in crafting, building upgrades, and minting coins.

It will be great if they allow side bartering of EK owner taxes on their nobles, which then the tax can be waived as paid that month.  For example, if they have that system based on coins too, but my noble wants to pay with ore bars.  If the system isn't designed to accept items other than coins, I'd want to waive the month.... otherwise, I'd just buy the ore with coins that they can use to pay the taxes.

You're correct.   I doubt that they would upset the EK-CW balance by adding pre-built structures in the store.  That heads toward pay-to-win, especially within the first 6-12 months when resources are scarce.

Ace is still working out the details on upkeep, taxes, etc... One of their last posts in the dev forum seemed like an overly concept system that was obviously still in the design phase, which I'm sure they'll simplify somehow.  So, we should just not speculate further how that'll get handled.

I do know, that the lack of building tax will take your building down to Rank -1 (ruin).  After you pay the taxes, you will need to upgrade it (using resources from the CW) to 0 (under construction) and then to 1 (first functional state).  You will then be able to upgrade it from there to max rank (to be determined) with more resources.

I anticipate that the resources needed for upgrades will be the primary bartered items.  You're more than welcome to favor minted coins... but I'll only accept raw resources for the items I craft or the non-resource items I export from CWs that I don't want to keep... at least until my EK is built up, which may take a very long time.

If the tax system is coins only, I'll just use the collected taxes to purchase more resources from you coin lovers.

FYI, Ace will soon post an answer pertaining to the state buildings are in when dropped in an EK.... which is an "under construction" state similar to ArcheAge, Age of Empires, Sim*, and other games with buildings.  You will need resources from the CWs in order to upgrade it to a functional state.

This reinforces my comments pertaining to why raw resources coming out of CWs will be far more valuable than coins within the first 6-12 months of release as players (and guilds) build up their EKs.

Also, taxes are applied to buildings, rather than plots.  They're still working on the details with regards to this part.

True, that is an option.  Although, we'll be using all of our ore for building/upgrading our EK... most likely for the first 6-12+ months.

<3 tax-free KS plots... no real point to coins until we're done with the EK

You will be able to, but it'll require the necessary crafting station (e.g. a forge and anvil). So, at some point, the mined ore will need to be transported to a crafting area first... then time spent minting coins... and either defending the coin stash or transporting them to the embargo summoning circle.  Not very efficient... although I'm hoping to see other guilds doing this within the CW... it'll make us very happy.... and rich!

They've mentioned it since the beginning and is at the very core of connecting CWs to EKs.  Why else would you need resources from CWs if you're able to drop fully functional buildings?

I don't have a lot of time right now to search around for this, but I can start you with this from the FAQ:

I can somewhat see the confusion though, which they need to make more clear.  Strongholds are full on parcels, while buildings are mini-parcels that drop on top of the full parcels but in pre-determined locations within the parcel.  You'll see a lot of this explained in the most recent EK video.

The confusion may be in the fact that they don't directly refer to these as blueprints, so it's possible that the initial building/stronghold is a very basic version of the building/stronghold (tier 1).  After this, they make it clear that upgrades from the basic require resources from the CW, like mentioned in this post:

    http://community.crowfall.com/index.php?/topic/6470-new-strongholds-in-store/page-3#entry168919

I'll search further later and possibly bring up the question on the actual initial building/stronghold drop on how functional are they.  I do know that tier 0 is what your buildings eventually degrade to, which is a non-functional ruin state, which will require resources to build up again.  Every tier upgrade on every building requires resources.

Supply and Demand Economics.  Based on that, you can set a barter price that others would be willing to accept for your item.

For example, in ArcheAge, there were demand phases that a server went through when it first launched.  Wood was the first in high demand, because players needed it for the basic ship and house.  Then, stone was in higher demand for the larger ships, larger houses, and castle walls.

In Crowfall, at release, everyone will need at least the basic armor set and weapons.  Then, they will need the resources within the CW for building and stronghold upgrades.  Then, it will be a cycle for replacement gear and further building upgrades, etc... It would be a waste of resources to convert into coins within a CW.  Coins really only hold value to what Ace requires for their tax payments and EK item store.  They hold no real value within the CW.

This.  The art style and the number of polygons that Ace is starting with shouldn't age the graphics for many years to come.

Even with the "cartoony" look, Blizzard and their WoW is a great example of a company and MMO that held onto low polygon models and low-res textures far longer than they needed to.  They really have no excuse for why they didn't update the graphics many years earlier.  They had the $ budget and the ability to do so.

This has been more of a business level decision than a technical one.  CCP has done an excellent job keeping EvE graphics updated as players upgrade their graphics, which has kept the game fresh and saving it from becoming too aged.  World of Tanks has also been upgrading their tank graphics as well.

Ace is currently planning on releasing with greatly increased model polygons and higher res textures, with the option to update them as-needed in the future.

It's part of the "Game of Thrones" emergent meta gameplay.  Equally, there are things that guilds can do in order to flush spies out and even do counter-spy operations.  It'll be a spy vs spy meta game.

This is something for players/guilds to do, not the developer.
