I don't really like the idea of having any of my potential damage out put tied to a pet I can't really control.  In a big world that can be changed constantly I feel like pet pathing will also be a nightmare.

If you must have taming then I guess you could do it for mounts or castle guards.  I mean it would be cool to have a wolf pack on patrol in your territory.

The worlds are infected by the hunger and everything in them will continue to become more insane and hostile as the disease spreads.  What chance do us mere Rangers have of reversing the effects of the hunger if the gods themselves cannot?

I say no permanent pets please.  I would rather see the ranger be the master tricks and traps.

If there are no mounts in the game then Caravans will have to move painfully slow to allow foot traffic a chance at catching it.  It would be painfully boring to have to set up an ambush in an area that someone may or may not use and wait.  It would also make scouts a bit pointless.  "Oh look I found a caravan!  Oh wait, it doesn't matter we cant catch it."  With mounts you can send out scouts and look for raiding opportunities that your mounted squad can be ready to jump on.

I suspect the mounts will be Darkfall like, inventory item you use to summon and then have to pack it back up when you dismount.  I suspect they will be fairly squishy if they offer much of a speed bonus.  They probably won't offer much of a combat advantage if any.

In the end all that matters is Caravans really.  It adds so much to the game when you will be forced to move food and supplies to the front lines.  Even moving stone around to build outposts will create opportunities for mercs or others willing to fight.

Paladin feels like a melee defensive/supportive promotion with strong ties to holy powers.

Judicator feels like a melee offensive promotion class with strong ties to fire.

Fury feels like a melee specialist with strong ties to wind and lightning.

To me a Paladin should seek out and destroy evil at every opportunity with the help of holy power.  He should be able to bolster himself, smite the wicked, and redirect that holy energy to helping his closest allies in their times of need (cures, armor buffs, maybe a light heal).  He should also be a hearty warrior with a strong conviction able to withstand many condition changing effects as well as poisons and diseases.  He may not be the hardest hitter or the most mobile on the battlefield, but chances are he will be one of the last ones standing through sheer willpower.
I see it as a more melee defensive/supportive type of promotion class for the Templar.

I would be willing to bet they have a god of storms or thunder or something along those lines.  You could probably get away with being a specialized sect of those that follow mother nature.

While I am just guessing at all this I think it would be pretty sweet to have a spear wielding, lighting throwing, wind wielding bad bottom archetype out there.

That bison grass vodka is pretty damn good.  I am sure a murder deer would be happy with a whole field of vodka soaked grass.

That sounds more like a paladin with the support stuff.  Hopefully the Judicator is more like the old school paladin, which is more about using holy power to crush enemies.

I could see the Judicator being drawn to the fire and flames side of holy destructive powers.  The flaming sword, heat hardened armors, heat waves injuring those in its path, purifying flames (debuffer), and maybe explosive based knock backs or propellants.  Could be possible to cauterize wounds to stop bleed effects as well.

I see it as the Templar's more melee oriented offensive promotion.

I see what you are saying, but I would still rather see the Fury as a storm wielder then let the disciplines give them more options instead of having fury disciplines that other archetypes can use.

The fury feels more like a specialist as an offensive hybrid of melee/ranged promotion class for the Templar.

The name alone makes us think a little along the lines of storms and their potential power.  Things like wind based movement or hindrance, lightning based damage and stuns from near or far, fog cover to protect from ranged attacks, team damage buffs, and maybe a hail storm mixed in there for fun.

Well lets hope the legionnaire with its pole arm, the champion with its big 2h axe, and whatever the myrmidon gets takes care of the big sweeping attacks and leaves the fury with more powerful but more precise stabs.

I have a funny feeling that magic is going to be the stuff that lets people blow the crap out of the world, so it looks like fights actually took place in areas when you come across them later.

It would be pretty awesome if the Knight was trying to grapple someone to pull to him, but hooked on the Champion instead.  Since the Champ should be bigger heavier  and stronger the Knight ends up getting pulled to the Champion.  That would be some pretty interesting game play for both sides with the player trying to pull targets to the slaughter and the ones trying to not get pulled or the heavier ones trying to catch it and pull the knight to them for the slaughter.

The spear looks like it might be a Templar promoted to Fury thing, but who knows they may go cross classes with some weapons.  Like you, I would like to see an axe/javelin/spear throwing specialization that can still use the big 2h in melee range.   Finite ammo could suck though...

I am just hoping that one of the promotion classes has some sort of giant hammer or knockdown skill shot.  Nothing says welcome to the battle like getting planted by a huge weapon wielding maniac.

I am not so sure people will like big hulking guys when they come with big hulking hit boxes.  Most hardcore PvPers that I know tend to gravitate to the littlest guy they can find for the advantage of being harder to notice in big fights, being harder to click on by enemies, and being able to hide behind other characters.  The hiding behind part won't work here with friendly fire, but being harder to hit may still draw them in.

I just have this feeling that the two other "big" guys (Legionnaire and Minotaur) are going to steal the show.

What does the Champion need to get him some appeal when we get to see his progression archetypes?

Yeah the skills that the Champion has access to will make or break it for the most part.  People will choose it no matter what if they simply have to have a big Axe or whatever their promotion weapons are.  It is behind the curve already, so it is going to take some super sweet sounding skills to get people to come join the big boy team.

Yeah it would, but I have a feeling that Champion will stay in the lower half of the popularity meters even when we learn about skills.

The worst part is that killing druids and rangers and rat things all day won't give me more AXES!

No go ahead and hate the player, then we will have less of them making it even more special.  I want people to know specifically who AXED them the question of "Can I have your gear"?
