  1. I could see the "spy" problem you speak of if the spy was in the factions discord large lobby room listening to overall given team commands, where team leaders would gather. I guess really it doesn't have to be large discord room either to be unnoticed, probably any random newly joined guild member could join in on the small rooms and yet only be there to siphon early information for their own guild on the opposite team. Just hope most teams will realize to use a party chat for important information on where to attack on map next. I do like the idea of the scout role bringing back updated map info for the team. We'll have to see how this all plays out in the coming campaign tests.
  2. Crowfall might be a true successor to SWG for me. Games are incomparable (obviously), but in terms of community and possibility they are on the same level - at least from what I see so far. Probably will change my pledge.
  3. Sad, dark and beautiful. Thought I am not fan of 'dark' still delightful. In fact lore is good enough for a story-driven game.
  4. Yeahe-he-he. 'Interesting' not quite enough to cover the extent of it.
  5. No need for an apology, friend. No way I am the one to say which thread supposed to be resurrected (or not), I am no moderator. Just saw an opportunity for a pun, considering mood of 'Crowfall' and all. Big fan of SWG myself.
  6. ^ Yeah, this. You log in, you play, you group with people. If game was good you keep in touch as you progress and at some point join their guild (create guild together).
  7. 'Light touch'... Wise. Actually they are right about everything, right on spot. Modern MMORPG being to loose about social aspect (you can play some of them as single-player games if you want) while there is no going back to tight-knit days of yore inderdependecy (after all those solo-friendly MMORPGs most people won't play 4-hour raid). It has been bothering me for years, actually. While I have no time to commit to real pro guild anymore I see no reason to stay in MMORPG if it feels like single player (I just finish content+/exploration and move on). ^ This kind of approach seems to be a good (and, maybe, perfect) solution.
  8. One thought, though hardly new... Watching video I recalled how people criticized graphics. 'Kinda... Somewhat... Meh...' Oh, my. And that's Pre-Alpha. So glad I am founder. Don't get me wrong, graphics not the only reason, in fact that was last thing I cared about. And now I see that will be also incredible.
  9. Well, I hope they reveal comic book in right order - that'll be big enough. My guess is God-player connections: reprecussions, benefits and disadvantages, perks and traits.
  10. For a PvP-oriented game you create beautiful lore.
  11. I was wondering if it'll come to male Fae what story he'll have. Nice touch. Also I dislike gender lock whatever class it may be, so thanks for coming through with this one.
  12. 'Project Gorgon' is made by 'Everquest'/'Asheron's Call' veterans and it's very unique. It's weak on graphics part (well, they designed it to be not so much eyecandy), but have the most interesting gameplay I saw in a while. You knew what you are doing. I was in first beta tests, 'Project Gorgon' is a very good game. 'Divergence' developer is familiar to me exactly from his work on the title. Also, from resurfacing campaigns. Last video I saw of his work and words he says... He tell right words, but somehow I had a feeling he is more munching of people's discontent with current MMORPGs then truly promote anything and using it to push forward his game.
  13. No. Just the right amount. Guy talks so much about topics that was said here in particular and everywhere else in general after some time it becomes annoying. He is really slow on his project, but he is stubborn - I give him that.
  14. Believe me, no one here is bubbly enough to think we ever get what I've been fantasizing about. Never said (well, I sure as hell hope not - but my first messages in this thread almost half-year old, so I don't remember) that it should be instant delivery. Again, most people around here understand MMORPG - and I don't mean playing them. I mean them as they are. How much investment they take to nurture, how much variables go into account and how fragile really balance of good MMORPG is. Easy to break, extremely hard to build. Rising cup to that. Hope is a must in this case and many other.
  15. Really good. No, really. Smooth, lots of customization, neat. Clicked on video just out of idle curiosity (come on, it will be a lot of time before I get my hands on UI; seemed no reason to bother at the moment), now impressed. Good job.
  16. This ain't fair. Too much features. Skill/exp system, I think. Different types of exp for different professions and their match-mixing.
  17. Nice snakes. What? Someone had to say it. Otherwise agree with 'yay!' crew.
  18. I sincerely hope so. Like I said: I have some things to sort out before I'll join SWG, but I plan to work on this. To this day I see no better place to establish something interesting, in a vein of previous official SWG. But people need community, otherwise it's just fails. I do not think we'll need more then 200-300 people you mention, just those really interested in playing SWG as much as it was back then.
  19. Sorry, did not see you answer earlier. Yeah, it is. I did not witness anything firsthand but I was duly warned by my friends not to join that one. So I did not. No argument here. From Coster's articles I imagine the scope and I must concur. 'Star Wars Galaxies' is a game where my tactics 'I will come back later and it will be better' that worked with almost every MMORPG failed me utterly. That's my case. At first I had experience similar to yours... Well, actually first time I run SWGEmu I bumped into an SWG veteran that gave me means of transportation and offered help. I thanked him and refused, being impressed how friendly people on Basilisk are. But game was totally incomplete with some missions on Corellia were sending you to open sea, for example. I decided not to continue. Later I started again and community was good too, but everyone were going about their own business. I played for some time, but left due to being busy with RL. At the moment I have a bunch of friends that invited me to Awakening. When I finish with my business I'll join them. They say server is fine and Jedi unlock is mystery - like it was at start. While community is much smaller it is much more passionate and driven then ever before - that's my opinion. Smaller, yes. But still good.
  20. If it will be better, then... But point about developers moving from world simulation to virtual toys was valid for too long. So few games have 'living' environment. As for SWG at first I was with everyone about how good it is, etc. After playing SWGEmu I can vouch: still good. Well, except for one server, but that's another story. So I'd separate nostalgic rambling from what SWG really is. Not was, still is. That's my take on this now.
