Will we see cow girls? Holstarus? whatever you want to call them? I know Minotaurs were male only in shadowbane but I am curious if we are sticking with that in crowfall.

Bows will already wear out and break like all other weaponry in the game, why would you make me also buy more arrows that could do the same? Why would anyone use non-magic ranged attacks in that case? Why drop 30 skill points into archery to lug 4 bags of arrows around when you could just drop 30 points into magic and shoot lightning. For siege weapons or firearms? I can see some reasoning behind them as I would hope they would be a bit more powerful than bows and crossbows, thus one might use them more sparingly. I mean if you think it just creates "realism" or makes the game more "hardcore" then why stop at arrows?

You wouldn't want to carry your bows around strung as that decreases their draw strength by stretching the wood and cord, so obviously before you can fire you will need to spend about 10 seconds stringing up your bow. You'll want a pot of oil to coat your metal in after you're done with it for the day, otherwise it will rust. A cleaning kit for any firearms. A toothbrush and soap or you'll take a hit to charisma! A leather kit and some spare chain rings to mend any broken armor, and 10ft pole just in case.

If you make arrows expensive in time resources or skill to craft, you punish archers for no reason.
If you make arrows cheap and easy to mass produce, why bother in the first place?
If you make them heavy and stack only in small ammounts, then once again archers are punished and anyone else with a ranged attack is far superior.
If you make them lightweight and stack up to 1000, what's the point?

Changed my mind I concur with the finite ammo idea.

That's a good point actually, in relation to that- I wonder how much we will be able to actually change our appearances... In the archetypes so far male and female of the same archetype seem to share the same features down to hair and skill color.

I still want to be sure characters can be truely customized not simply having a few stats changed and calling that 'character customization' cause that's far from customizing your character.

So? Are you waiting for a certain feature to be announced? Some Clarification on existing mechanics? Maybe you haven't found the class that's right for you yet? Maybe you're waiting for payday? Or the kickstarter hasn't reached a goal you want yet? Share your reasons and maybe our lovely community can help!

I know I for one haven't backed because I've been burned in the past by early access and kickstarts. Given that and the rule sets I am most interested in (Shadows,Infected,God's Reach) won't be in until post launch. I just don't feel the need to be one of the first players in.

I can't solve your problem with money but I do believe that the artcraft servers will be accessible by everyone everywhere. So sayeth some developers.... here?

I feel you friend, I spent couple hundred on spaceships in star citizen. But I like space sims, I have heard of Chris Roberts, trusted the name. I honestly don't know much about these devs and outside of warhammer online I have never played a PVP centric MMO.

I have backed enough to get into beta and to generally support this direction of development, however, considering there is no concrete information about EU beta servers, which is worrisome and unfortunate, and even launch servers, which is completely unacceptable, I will not commit further for now.

Do US developers really see the EU and surrounding regions such as Russia a small market ? Look at Leage of Legends for example, the European playerbase is magnitudes larger than the US, it's not even comparable. Completely ridiculous, obtuse and financially suicidal thinking.

We need a vote of confidence here, yes - the game will be playable at launch on european servers and yes, there will be european beta servers, is anything less even acceptable ? Can the game handle being shunned by so many regions on all the MMO sites during the crucial months surrounding the launch date ? Maybe, but the negative press and loss of player confidence given anything less will strike a much bigger blow to the project then setting up some servers for the game in Europe, in English, think of it as the cost of doing business. Most importantly, not proceeding with offering the game in such a multicultural region as Europe in beta and at launch just because there is no localization work done would be the single most stupid decision ever so far in this project, no doubt. Europe knows English, everyone would be fine with that until proper localization options can be done, if they are needed at all given such a modest budget.

I repeat, not giving the gamers in EU access to the game in beta and, even worse, at launch just because, what, you don't think they play games in English all day long, would be the biggest stab in the back ever. Even if the devs are not committed to financing overseas servers by themselves talks with regional publishers should already be ongoing to launch as much across the world at the same time as possible, you know what happens to games that do the blunder of releasing, for example, the EU version 2 years later, check it out, they generate irreparable scorn and go belly up in the eyes of gaming communities the world over. Just saying that the company will do its best to make sure at least European players get beta servers and servers at launch -will- push the Kickstarter campaign to at least 1,5 million in a matter of days.

Edit: Ok, I've seen a post by the devs highlighting their commitment to ensuring the service at least in Europe at launch, good. I'm leaving the above rant in place because I think the issue is just that important.

I'm waiting for more info/videos on the combat. I like the resetting worlds, it really really appeals to me. But given that this is going to be a pvp centric game, I need to like the combat. It doesn't have to be the type of combat that I'm good at because to but it bluntly I'm crap. But it does have to be the kind of combat that I would enjoy.

It's simple for me. I'm from the EU and don't think there will be beta-servers here. I'm somewhat burned on pre-ordering, so i will wait till release maybe.
But if i would have more spare money i would hit it...

Vstubbs got a reaction from Savvy in A Combat System Without Cooldowns, Would You Prefer It?
I believe it was Skyforge that is using my favorite response to cooldowns. Soft cooldowns!

Base of the system is the idea of no mana and the ability to cast all your abilities all the time, allow me to give a few example abilities and how they could work in a generic system

    Shield bash
    25 damage.
    1 second stun.
    10 second cooldown.

    Frostblast
    50 damage
50% movement and attack speed slow over 5 seconds
    10 second cooldown

The soft cooldown works like this, you can cast shield bash all you like, again and again and again, but the first time you cast it you gain the 1 second stun, and then you have to wait 10 seconds to be able to stun again. But the damage component still remains the same. In addition you could activate the ability early, to get a % of the effectiveness. IE a 0.5 second stun after waiting 5 seconds, or a 37% slow after waiting 7 seconds for your frost blast to charge back up. This method would punish spamming of abilities but allow you to keep fighting with the abilities you need to. Be they ranged or melee attacks.

I think the problem is the risk is far greater than the reward. Outside of visiting for roleplay or trade why would anyone build something in someone else's kingdom? The risk is any time or effort you spent being lost vs the reward of...? What? Having your home one loading screen closer to services that you could just as easily build up in your own private residence? Not to mention your private residence will be larger and cheaper. As you don't have to pay upkeep on land, buildings, and then on top of that taxes and rent. The current system is flawed and will result in a handful of popular destinations, but nobody will want to live there. |

I propose a similar system, let you pledge your 3x3 plot of eternal kingdom land to a monarch and it becomes part of the kingdom, I have spent twelve long years in MS paint to tell you the story of a kingdom that could've been.
