  1. Hi, I'm a nerd like you probably, but with a problem.

I'm a total casual now because of a mental illness and I still want to participate in the game.

The moba genre has really had a grand boom, and I've had a lot of fun participating in it. I think it's where MMO combat wishes it could be, obviously with a few twists, but can't be because of technical limitations. Essentially the world isn't fair, and the real world problems have stalled the evolution of MMO combat systems. Mobas tend to have tighter locks on what abilities can do, and what they can't do because they're trying to fit within the real world constraints that allow them to be so action oriented. So essentially they have to be dumber in some ways. That's not bad however, because a lot can be going on at once, and you'll still be able to react quite quickly, and its still a fun challenge.

MMO combat tends to be slower, but for some reason also a lot more confusing. So even with all that reaction time, you might still not know what to do give a certain situation. I might not be able to participate in the highest levels of MMO play, but I can still watch a raid or a stream, and be clued in on what's happening at the highest tiers of play. However understanding what's going on can be quite difficult.

That's part of the appeal of MMO combat's strategic depth, but its also a problem that makes it harder to watch. Even though I don't play dota 2 after having played other mobas, I can still kind of understand what's going on, because broadly they share a visual language, and share similar limitations in what abilities can do. I still might not know what buff or debuff does what, but I can still visually see someone's stunned, taken a lot of damage, or moved very fast across the screen.

MMO combat tends to be very very tough to be good at, because the things MMOs can take advantage of, that a moba can't, are very different, and favor different systems with their own challenges to overcome.

Personally I've never even come close to being a competent PVP MMO player, probably because I was too young before, but also probably due to this problem. I can't watch MMO combat of say World of Warcraft's Arena World Championship, and be involved in the strategy deeper then what the caster's tell me is going on.

However, I know what's happening in a Moba because its pretty straight forward. With only a little research I'm now pretty clued in on what's going on.

I guess its just partially my fault, too however.

Part of that is because I've taken a break from world of warcraft, and each class can take quite some time to understand, and to be a competitor you have to know the abilities of almost all of them and how to deal with them, and that, that's just a lot to understand for anyone, let alone someone who's kind of been artificially dumbed down, and is out of the loop.

I'll pony up for my daughter who is waiting for the fae and has a small head.

Alright guys contest is over Silverback wins on account of tugging at my heart strings, I love families that game together. Also I assume her head would be suitably small.

Silverback all you gotta do is PM your address to me.

  3. The hat was described as small-medium on the official page, and it almost fit my mom's very small head. If it fit a little bit better it'd be hers, so it has to be a reasonably small head.

If you have a kid interested in crowfall this might be a good hat for them.

I was capable of putting the hat on, but it was a tight uncomfortable fit, but it worked so if you enjoy painful hats this might also be for you.

  4. Hi guys. This is only for people with small to slightly larger skull, as I've only got one Crowfall Hat to give away and its small. Also, because I'm cheap its only for those in the USA, I don't know much about shipping and I'm lazy to boot so that's the deal.

So if you have a slightly smaller then average head this hat might be perfect for you.

All you have to do is post here and have a small skull, live in the USA, and when 5.6 launches I'll pick a winner. It might be random, it might be based on if you post some epic joke, or if you start a good conversation. Just depends on how much effort yal put in and how hard you make choosing a winner.

Once I pick a winner I'll contact you via pm and I'll get your address, I'll send you the hat, and that will be that. You'll have a hat, that fits your small head, and I'll have given away a hat I can't wear.

Oh more details. Its an official crowfall hat, and its a flex fit so small to slightly larger heads should fit.

To get more people into the contest I'll keep it open for a week. That way the night owls can get in and stuff and anyone who has a life can also be aware when they get off work or something.

  5. Hi, I think its a bit dubious to have your account name and your display name be the same.

I don't mind that you have a uniform name across all your vessels but having that name be the account name means that people only need to try find out your password instead of also what your account name is, if they want to harass you or a prominent streamer or something like that.

I think its better for security for these to be separate names.

  6. Sorry I'm just trying to provide feedback. I'm committed to gaming and just want all the games I enjoy to get better through my involvement.

If you want an example of what kind of rotation I mean, just look at what watch makers have figured out how to do, when they make fancy watches with day night indicators.

  7. I don't want to have my valuable account stolen because I can't afford a mobile phone.

Please I suggest you use a 2FA system that also includes options where you would not have access to a mobile phone. Steam finds your IP and knows your location and you have to verify via email everytime you try to login on a new computer I think that's a very thoughtful solution, that would help improve security for people like me.

  8. I haven't really been playing much. I haven't really figured much out besides how to hit trees and make an axe, but I have been passively training, and I just want you to know that, I think it takes a really long time to level up pips to max because of the animations.

I had about 15-20 days of timebank and basically if a button had told me that I could just level up everything in the entire tree with the time I'd accumulated I would've gladly pressed it and saved myself the trouble of trying to guess where to put points efficiently.

  9. I don't know all the racial bonuses so its hard to say right now, but I think this will just become a normal meta problem.

Eventually the main race class combo will get a counter build and then you've got at least some variety, and then if they do their balancing right they'll add more.

  10. Hi, I want to say that I like your day night cycle idea, but I was wondering if you could do more.

I want stealthers to have an easier time ganking at night and for items like torches to exist to counter this.

I think stealth is a fun mechanic and I haven't seen a game add a bonus to being hidden at night (that I know of)

As well as that, I would like to see caravans with torches and maybe they would have a bit more of a light aura effect to them to really highlight their presence in the world and to also make them seem like beacons of protection.

I think you guys should really lean into just how dark night is, and how minecraft made it such an intimidating period of time to be out in the world.

Also it gives another consumable to produce and we remember fondly how much we utilized torches in minecraft I hope.

  11. It should help alleviate your fears.

To be blunt, the people who farmed resources and leveled their crafting at the start of the game became wildly successful in the market place and simply rose to be vastly wealthier then the people who didn't involve themselves early in the resource gathering portion of the game.

It might not seem like much of a big deal, but it just depends on how people are positioned the game dictates that armor and resources are needed and if you're properly positioned to fill that need at the right time, you will be handsomely rewarded.

Of course the economy settled down a bit and things normalized but that head start was significant in establishing the starting hierarchy of guilds and their hold over terrain.
