coach got a reaction from JamesGoblin in Concerns and thoughts about multiple accounts?
Pathfinder Online, while failing on many accounts, actually got the passive training and active training just about exactly right

you got points passively to "spend" as you saw fit but you had to "unlock" an ability by actively playing somewhat

not enough to even be considered a small grind, but enough that you got "ahead" of the 100% passive alt account

on the google doc, add "Great Success" as a possible experimentation outcome in between "Good Success" and "Amazing Success"

thanks for the doc, great job on the compilation

Ok, so it was amusing that 'James Goblin' likes this.... even though 'he' has never posted anything original 'himself'..... but now we also have 'Albert Rock' liking everything, seconds after it's been posted, but also never posting anything original.

I feel that the notifications getting spammed are actually unfavourable to the community.

If we want to keep a community friendly and active, it helps to be able to stay aware of actual, real people interacting with you.
But I can't see it without hunting for it past all of the spam notifications.

I'd love it if someone could come up with a way to prevent this, ie: Capping 'likes' at 20 a day? Today Albert Rock has liked all seven of my new posts, I'd not be surprised if 'he' likes this one too.

Oh, and dear Albert Rock, James Goblin,  if you are actual people, please prove me wrong, I'll be totally sorry.

EDITED!!!! Ok, so They both live! Somehow my life is a lot happier for that.

I'm sorry for any offence I might have caused by posting this outrageous slander on you

I do love that they are both trying to make the community alive. It's just that I'm not a massive fan of the notification spam

    EDITED AGAIN.

    I have brain damage.
No it seems I really don't get peoples sarcasm.
Little things like being confused by not being able to follow peoples conversations because of notification spam is a thing for me.
Half the time I can't understand people anyway, I forget the start of the conversation, or misunderstand the meaning. I lose words, or use the wrong one.
And yes, my perspective on things can be way off.
I'm happy for everyone that they feel that this is a tiny issue and not worth raising.

I'm going to suggest that this topic gets locked and ignored

Ps I had a fantastic message from James Goblin who explained that notification limits have already been reviewed.

or even just allow VIP to train 1 general, 1 archetype, and any two others not in the same tree as either of the first two

so you could train 1 Gen, 3 Arch ... 2 Gen, 2 Arch... or like now 1 Gen, 3 Arch

Setting combat aside for a moment, I see a problem with crafting and gathering both competing for a single passive progression resource.

Crafting is only of value if the crafter can maintain a steady stream of resources, and resources are only valuable to crafters.  It doesn't make sense for a crafter to take his hard earned gold and spend his time and his money finding and trading with a gatherer when he can simply make an alt to gather with and be at exactly the same level of expertise as that dedicated gatherer, able to spend exactly the same amount of time on gathering since crafting is an activity that takes place in the safety of one's home, while stationary, without any form of interactivity or complexity to be overcome.

If there were more to be done with crafting skills outside the crafting window, more interactivity to the process of crafting beyond gathering the materials and clicking "create", more opportunity for interesting complexity that influences the final results in non-trivial ways, or means of progressing one or the other of these skills without sacrificing progress in the other by doing so, I could see someone running a crafter/gatherer.  As it is today, it seems like alt accounts are the only reasonable option for someone who wants to main a crafter, and that doesn't bode well for anyone who wants to main a gatherer.

TL;DR: Give dedicated crafters something to do when they're out of materials or we'll feel forced to make alts to go get materials.

Spent a while harvesting a bunch of Metal ores and combining them in every way possible. Here's the list of the different combinations and the benefits they'll grant to the items that you create with them. Built a great Sharp Rapier for my Duelist with only top tier Tin and Iron and it rips people apart.

no one knew or would answer this on ingame chat

I am in the harvesting general skill tree

I have trained plentiful harvest copper ore and want to now train copper pick but it is greyed out and unclickable even though i am at 100%

do i also have to get critical chance copper and critical amount copper to 100% vertically before i move horizontally to train?

or do i have a bug that i should submit because i SHOULD be able to train copper pick BEFORE i train the other two copper ore skills?

This is something I've brought up to the developers before as well.

I personally think that VIP accounts should be able to train 3 general skills and 3 archetype skills as long as the skills aren't in the same general tree or archetype.

I.E. VIP gets to train 1 combat, 1 crafting and 1 exploration skill in the general tree and 3 archetype skills (as long as they're in separate archetypes).

Some feel this will lead to less reliance on others and hurt the community. I think there's enough specialization within the crafting tree to where people will still need each other.

Like others have said you'll just need a second account to be a crafter account (and maybe a third for harvesting). The nice thing is these accounts don't need to be VIP so it would be a one time $50 purchase. You don't need to train multiple archetypes on a crafter or harvester account, only really need that on a combat account, and even then it wouldn't be a requirement.

I'd prefer to just run 1 account but with the current system I'll have 3 accounts with only 1 of them VIP subscribed.

exact type posts we saw in SWG early days

non-crafters or otherwise shallow minds not ready to explore the researching didn't understand the complexity of the crafting in SWG and it was great for those of us who did

they were the ones who paid extra millions of creds for that extra 0.05 damage that server-best weapon did over the server second-best weapon

yoh, do you feel lonely as the only crowfall backer asking for crafting minigames?

    good summary

but if they are mimicking SWG, you want to use ALL experimentation at once on those final crafts, then if get amazing success make a blueprint

if you spread your xp points out you will have less risk but also average out to less success

but since blueprints not in not as big a deal yet

i am not asking to train ALL four skills in crafting/harvesting, perfectly fine with one in general being in that role and one in archetype being in that role

one of the archetypes at least needs to have some non-combat focus

totally agree, VIP is being devalued at a record pace, which is good news for the P2W worriers

i wonder if there will be some stealth stuff in arch tree (where at least you could be gaining harvesting skill in the general tree and gaining hiding skill while you are harvesting in the arch tree
