He's not entirely wrong.  The FIRST impression is always the most important/remembered.  The overwhelming MAJORITY of players were thrown into one of the worst concocted tutorials I have EVER seen in an MMO.  Then absolutely ZERO realm attachment, no mention of the gods to choose from, the ability to just "bounce" between factions on a whim, and then some insane "world" select screen that is more confusing to a new player than the rest of it.
You have NO bio's, NO realm pride, NO 24/7 keeps to attack, a map that has keeps littered all over the place with no rhyme or reason, no choke points, no dungeons, insane discipline rune/construction, insane harvesting, that is all blanketed around a "pvp niche" product.
This is NOT setup for pvp.  Its a farming/crafting simulator right now that encourages ZERG mentality, ZERO pride to your realm, and locked timers with the most confusing map iv'e ever seen in an MMO to date.
    Fixes?
    1.  Make 3 maps /bios with 24/7 attackable keeps/forts.  Each fort holds a Gods statue, by holding the keep(s) the REALM gets the bonuses/extra gold drops/items increase/harvesting etc.
    2.  Remove the world select screen, and make it ONE big open world after you leave (noob island gods reach). (dregs the exception)
    3.  Get rid of the 3d map, (its janky, slow, confusing, and just poor looking), make a basic 2d map for quick access and make it paint-brush art style like the rest of the art.
    4.  CAP guilds to 50 max, no matter WHAT server whether dregs or shadow(faction vs faction)  Alliances TAKE FRIENDLY FIRE (AOE ect)
    5.  Stop making us remove/add disciplines for crafting/slotting, its annoying and its almost as bad as the banking features.
Do ANY of this and you WILL get players back.  I love the art, I love the combat, love the classes and ideas..but this guys not wrong, its confusing beyond anything and this is why the "new" players left. I cant blame them.

Noc. reacted to Groovin in Unofficial Looking for Guild Thread - NA Edition
    Good day ladies and gentlemen.
After the move from the old beta forums, to the brand new live forums, we've lost a pretty important thread that served as a binding for new and unguilded players. The LFG Thread.
Since no one has stepped up just yet, I figured I'd do the old copy/paste and help bring back this anchor.
    The idea is simple:
Advertise yourself or your group if you are guildless Don't use this as a platform to advertise your guild. Instead PM the person you're interested in Once you find a guild, edit your post to say so. Below is the copied over thread body, and an example of the format people used to use.

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
    Please Read Before Posting

If you are an un-guilded player who is looking for an active guild to join in Crowfall, please use this thread to post a little bit about yourself, so interested guilds may contact you. There are no specific rules about what you should include, however, the more accurately you describe yourself as a gamer, the better chance a guild with similar interests has of finding you.

→ Players: if you successfully find a guild, please edit your original post to indicate that you are no longer LFG. Otherwise you will likely continue receiving PMs. Another thing you can do is note your preferred contact method, whether it be on the forums, or through Discord/whatever voice or chat program you use. Just be sure you want to be contacted outside the forums first, and drop your details

→ Guild Leaders: Do not advertise your guild in this thread. If you see individuals who are LFG that you are interested in recruiting, please contact them through private message. This thread is for un-guilded players.

→Example of things you might want to include: Class, Focus, Time Zone, Play Style, Prior Experience, and of course what your looking for in a guild and what you can bring to the guild.

ONCE YOU FIND A GUILD PLEASE COME BACK AND EDIT YOUR POST

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Below is the format people tended to use.
    Guild criteria:
Region: ex. US, EU, OCE, SEA Atmosphere: ex. Looking for a guild with a no nonense, down to earth vibe Casual/Hardcore?: Size: ex. Small scale, mid size, large, MEGA ZERG Play-Style: ex. Heals, scouting, crafter, the dude who does the big damage, whatever you think your playstyle is. What is your gameplan? Commitment: ex. 16 hours a day Miscellaneous: ex. could be anything, related to real life availability, in game behaviour, what you do and don't want to do. Perhaps what you expect from a guild. Experience: ex. games you've played in the past that you feel might be relevant, whether it be Shadowbane or Hello Kitty Online,
Voice-Chat services: and finally, do you use vent, discord, teamspeak, etc. As above, if you prefer to be contacted through one of these programs, be sure to add your details (for example, Player#1234 on Discord)
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Gonna try and get @ACE-Tiggs to pin this 🙏 and hopefully cut back on the individual threads. If this isn't something you want here, just nuke the thread.
Of course as well if you are new, be sure to check out each thread, as a lot of guilds are quite open to being contacted first.
If you need examples of what other people have put before, check out the archived thread
    Good luck out there.

Haha this is true. Already growing another head. Been around Crowfall since 2015, and I have a merchandising agreement with ArtCraft Entertainment (let me know if you want some Crowfall shirts). So yeah, I'll be around a while.

Either way @JTF hope you and your group find a good home and enjoy the game. There's a lot of depth in Crowfall.

    Here's the deal.
We're working on crafting now, we love pvpers and new members. You will find your home is befitting with us.
We currently field around 3 pvp parties, we are forming an alliance with other guilds to be able to form more if need be.
45 members / active discord / tactics and strategies are used in battle rather than zerging.

I mean you could always go with oathsworn. But how long will the leader be around, he's from flint, he drinks bad water.
Ping myself, or an officer on discord when you come in.

Noc. reacted to Arkade in Why are there so many races and classes?
They originally started with archetypes, where the race and class was predetermined. Back in Hunger Dome, we had the Human Knight, Centaur Legionnaire and Nethari Confessor. They eventually made the decision to split archetypes into separate races and classes. Yes, it is tougher to balance, but it gives players more build options, which is always a good thing. It's a lot easier to balance when everyone is basically the same, but that isn't very fun either.
They still need to balance a lot of things, so I wouldn't judge the balance based on what we have now. Will it ever be perfect? No, but it doesn't need to be. This isn't a 1 vs 1 game. It's meant to be group vs group combat. In that light, minor imbalances between classes or races won't make a significant difference. If there are major imbalances, those can be fixed as they would in any other game. There's no MMO out there, PvP or PvE, where balances is perfect.

With every new build, every new feature, and every new idea
There comes with it a price. And the greatest of currencies is Time.

And it's time for Oathsworn to wake up!  Many of us have been playing other games, patiently waiting for Crowfall. Some of us have even started to play in a D&D campaign. And with the Holidays upon us, there is even less time to spare. Life/Work balance for me personally has been skewed, the scales tipped out of favor. As I'm sure some, if not most, of you are experiencing as well. Nevertheless, Oathsworn is opening up recruitment once again. CLICK HERE to apply.
I would be happy to field any questions. Be it about Oathsworn's conception, philosophy, goals, or memberships. Feel free to join our DISCORD to chat with us.
Win a FREE Crowfall T-shirt from my shop. All guild members will have an entry into a drawing to win a free shirt from my licensed shop. Every new testing phase, I'll draw another winner. (Testing phase meaning going into "Alpha" from "Pre-Alpha", then again once we enter "Beta") And will continue to draw more winners after the game launches. One of the perks to joining Oathsworn!

New shirts up in the STORE. Also, a bit of fantastic news about my Threadless shop. Soon, we will be able to do AOP designs. All Over Printing designs allow me to really showcase a more abstract and asymmetrical design for the shirts. Allowing me to place images up by the collar, or on the shoulders, or even the backs of shirts. They are doing testings with it now, so hopefully in the next couple of months I can get some interesting designs out. And here are some of the new designs you can buy from the shop. Keep in mind that a good portion on the profits goes straight to the devs! It's a win-win-win! Also, FREE SHIPPING on all orders over $45 (or $80 internationally) when you use this code: FREESHIP112dbf95

So, just to make it clear, the issue is with the names and not the playstyle of the promotions?
Most of those sounds like downgrades because the basic class name is too cool. Like, any random person with daggers is considered an assassin from the start? The same happens with the champion, like you said you already go in thinking of a stabilished and badass background.
They definitelly cant make the basic classes sound less cool so the choice is making those promotion sound super cool but then we might end with dumb names. Myrm's Conqueror is one step away from becoming a issue to me, that was always a title you would give to a really badass person with big deeds under their name so just giving it like that bothers me a little. It is cool yes, but maybe a little too cool? Totally a personal issue tho.
Also, we have to take personal opnion into account. I like 'Pit-fighter' because it brings with it a nice background, someone who just doesn't go down. It fits the playstyle too. OTOH, I don't really like 'Swordman' because it is too bland. He wields a sword so he is a swordman? That's it?
We agree on Archer tho. Same as the swordman above. What about 'Marksman?'
  14. Thanks
Noc. got a reaction from JamesGoblin in Promotion Classes Primer Pt2 - Official Discussion Thread
A few of these "Promotion" classes just inherently sound like downgrades.

Champion has been demoted to a Pit Fighter. When I think of the title of Champion, I feel like it was something earned. When I think of Pit Fighter, I think of someone still earning the title of Champion.
Assassin, and expert in the field of assassination and other clandestine things. But hey, you could be a lowly Cutthroat, that feels undisciplined. Or a Vandal that sounds like the graffiti artist or someone throwing eggs at houses.
Ranger, a field specialist at home in the wilderness, expert in survival. Let's promote them to an Archer to patrol our ramparts along with dozens of other NPCs that are also Archers.
That said, there are some that feel great! Both in a sense of an actual promotion, but also in the sense of a characters mindset. For example: The Knight, loyal and embedded to their sovereignty. Perhaps they have lost their trust and became a Swordsman (I keep wanting to call them Swordarm) Makes me think they took the life of a Mercenary. This is cool.
Other nice call outs: All the Druid promotional classes. Myrmidon and Templars are great as well. Blackguard for the Assassin I like too.

Anyway, just tossing my pennies into the pot.

Kelmor was the largest land on our world, divided into six Kingdoms. Each with a ruler that desired more than they held, and so they plotted and schemed against each other. All but save one.

A man known to have survived a hundred battles, but not by strength alone. He had a mind for strategy, and a heart of gold. His only desire was to have people forge their own destiny. An ideal that quickly fell short in the land of Kelmor, as other rulers began to sprout with their own visions. However, all the Kingdoms owe him a great debt for shattering what was once known as the Vin'lar Empire, which was an all encompassing dark and sinister monarchy. Pharuuk had the quality of a hero, and became more than a legend in our land. He became a breathing God. People from all over built monuments and statues in his name, worshiping him. He reveled in it, adored it, the reverence. But even the exalted can fall.
Some years after the free Kingdoms had formed. Pharuuk's mind had begun to whither. Madness seeped in. Only fleeting moments of clarity would visit him. During those brief stints, Pharuuk had begun a journal, writing down whatever thoughts his mind could summon. Some entries seem random gibberish, while most were thoughts of his people. Then there was this passage...
"There is a sickness in me- not born from this world. Haunting nightmares, nay memories of lands being consumed by a dark cloud. It rips at my mind and I am obsessed. I fear it is coming to us. Not just the land of Kelmor, but to those yet beyond our reach. My body grows cold as if I am already standing on these lifeless grounds. I fight against this hunger, but it is not a foe known to me. I will send word of this darkness to the other Kingdoms, surely someone will know a remedy."
An entry only discovered years after his passing by one of Pharuuk's sons...

An honorable son, Dirke had set out to the other Kingdoms with his father's last unspoken wish. To speak of the madness that consumed the land's hero, and to seek a remedy to the fallen. Each land Dirke visited, was a shadow of it's former self. The minds of rulers decaying, and so too were their lands. This did not escape his notice. Realizing the weight of the issue, he had begun a mission of his own. One that would follow his father's legacy... To save Kelmor.
Bringing to light the darkness that has befallen the land, Dirke had been able to gain followers. Scholars, warriors, farmers and all walks between had lent to the cause. Some preparing food before the world's blight grew too wide spread. Some smithing armaments to equip those capable of defending against rioters, or worse. Some even explored outside of Kelmor in hopes of an answer. Those never returned. These folk all shared a single fortress high into the largest mountain in Kelmor, and aptly called it God's Reach. The last bastion for those still living in that world.
It didn't take long before the hunger was upon them. Dark clouds consuming the land in all directions. Bitter cold had been biting at the smallest spark of life that remained within the residence. Most people were lost to the evil winter, starved or gone mad. It was only a matter of time before they too were engulfed by this unstoppable foe. But Dirke did not falter. He would not surrender his life. He spat at the hunger and cursed it. Fighting back with body and soul, there were 14 left alive.
In those last moments, Dirke showed solid resolve. He took a blade to his hand, and cut deep. Holding high his blood dripped fist, he casts a final curse at the hunger. Vowing with this life, and the next, and the next, for all eternity, he will forever fight this darkness. The 13 others inspired by his promise of vengeance, too swore the oath...

Noc. reacted to entityofsin in Why I am extremely dissapointed (waste of money)
When I see stuff like this from a fresh forum user with only a single post, it makes me feel it's a bunch of BS to begin with. I've noticed a lot of new names on these forums posting some of the most idiotic stuff I've seen on a website in a long time that's video game related.
If you aren't willing to do extremely basic troubleshooting of a video game to get it to work, then stop buying games that aren't fully released. End of story. Full stop.
If you aren't willing to even bother watching YouTube videos on the video game for 1 or 2 hours to see if it looks good enough by your own personal standards, then you forfeit the right to whine and complain about the product's quality in an early product development stage. End of story. Full stop.
Blaming the product that's been in development for over 3 years is misplaced. The horrible consumer decision to spend a portion of your personal finances on an incomplete video game product is where the blame should be placed. It's your responsibility as a consumer to educate yourself enough to make the best possible purchasing decision for you. It isn't the company's fault that you spent $50 on an incomplete game. Artcraft Entertainment didn't force you to spend that money. It's your fault for spending that money.
Suck it up or shut up. Take responsibility for the choices you make in your life cause that's the person who is to blame for whether or not the choice you made is good or bad. Not a company.
Thanks for the good laugh though!

how are advantages and disavantages coming along?
i noticed that 'character/vessel' creation had a 'name' - will people see that or our account name?
so classes are no longer locked to a race vessel then?
e.g. if i picked generic discipline runestones i could have a FAE that i could switch between druid and frostweaver freely?
How will durability work? [assume none....unless related to "beheading" teases]
how will necormancers keep in busines?
If some campaigns force you to make 'new' or different chravcters won't that force people to delete up to their slots etc?
