  1. To be honest a wipe might actually make the gear discrepancy WORSE for new players than not wiping. The established guilds have been through many wipes and are very good at starting the war machine back up again and getting everyone geared. The new guys don't have this kind of organization and knowledge and are much slower to get there. 

    However the secondary market will start to develop after there hasn't been a wipe for a while. This disproportionately helps newer/less organized groups get competitive gear.

    I know you like to kill the noobs that just stand there, and run on anyone who actually reacts to your popping on them. But I'm not following your line of thinking here.

    - The strength of retaliate effects CC specs more than other specs. That's why NONE of the CC specs for any of the classes are meta right now.

    - Vandal doesn't have access to Ambush or the passives/talents that make Backstab hit hard that really enable the hit and run playstyle.

    - You can retaliate out of Cheap Shot. (unless it was changed)

  3. Vandal is bad because CC is bad. Everyone just retaliates or CC immunes out of everything you have. You're just as squishy as Cutthroat but don't do as much damage and can't utilize a hit and run strategy nearly as well. 

    If retaliate got nerfed, CC immunes were less common, or we had some reliable way of tracking diminishing returns then the spec would maybe be decent. 

    Even then it's by far the hardest spec to play optimally. 

  4. This game damn near requires you to have a guild for it to be fun. So many of the systems have interdependence with each other that it's almost impossible to play effectively solo or with a small group. 

    Luckily the community is stepping up and there's some new guilds that are swooping in and picking up these new players and adding them to their ranks. ACE needs to seriously push people to join guilds. Like...it needs to be a constant tooltip pop up and on every loading screen until you join one. It's that important to your enjoyment of the game. 

  5. Right now taking and holding outposts is very lackluster. It's boring and usually something people dread doing primarily because there's no reason to grab them other than "points".

    - If you're a PvPer and you're not in the race to win then there's no point in even bothering with them.

    - For harvesters they don't get any benefit whatsoever.


    If you guys gave something like a 5% damage buff for having a nearby Outpost and an extra plentiful harvesting point and extra harvesting critical chance it would really incentivize people to want to grab them for reasons outside of points. 

    - It would add some tactics to taking points on the map. Maybe you want to grab the 2 nearby outposts for a 10% damage buff before trying to take a fort. If you're planning on doing a motherload run you'd want to grab nearby objectives first for the buffs and a fallback point. Overlapping buffs might be too much but maybe there could be a limit to how many stacks you could have.



  6. View distance and specifically nameplate distance isn't very far in this game. Also in the Spirit Bank meta ganking groups have to be particularly good at catching people by surprise. Whatever group killed you might have approached in such a way to minimize your reaction time.

  8. The leveling system is designed very well in my opinion.

    - It gradually introduces new players to their abilities and additional mechanics. Remember that a lot of us have been playing this game for years at this point and don't realize how much knowledge we've accumulated over that amount of time.

    - Experienced players can blast through the leveling process on stock vessels. Even just purely killing mobs with no sacrificing it takes maybe 2 hours to hit max level playing with any sort of efficiency. 

    - It gives the game a constant gold and resource dump. Epic and legendary vessels take A LOT of XP to level and also require high end sacrifice materials. This gives players moment-to-moment things to do when there's not a big event going on. Once disciplines get locked to the vessel you're going to see the value of gold and sacrifice items go WAY up!

    After further review of the video I think the "fake whirlwind" bug may have caused this crash damage. Essentially the game will say you're not doing a whirlwind even if you are. 

    An easy way to see this is that my first Whirlwind gave me the "Raging" buff that prevents crash damage. The second one didn't give me the "Raging" buff and was most likely a fake whirlwind. It also wasn't doing damage to Vengeance316 who was in range of it. 


    2 pretty alarming things in this video.

    - I get slingshoted around like crazy by physics. Ending up in a place that doesn't even make sense.

    - Server lag seems to make damage have a delay. This SCREWS the Myrmidon crash mechanic. Even as a Battle-Rager that can channel their crash immunity for long periods of time.

    Watch the video in .25 speed from 26 seconds and go frame by frame. You'll see that I'm channeling Whirlwind for a good bit after I lose the Berserk buff on the buff list. To add insult to injury I even pop the Blood of the Giant iFrame power afterwards and STILL take damage.


    It seems like server lag is delaying damage as well and causing things to make no sense. @jtoddcoleman @thomasblair@Tyrant

    While out skulking about close to harvesting points, the assassin is not actively making gains, while a harvester is pretty much always whacking on something and making gains. I can harvest about 100 resources per 20 food buff in the spring, while when I'm an assassin I might look for that same 20 minutes and see nothing but empty zones, or parties that are too well organized to take on.

    I am much more profitable while harvesting, than I am while assassinating. Harvesting is less fun, but it is more profitable.


    Yep, while ganking for me has been pretty profitable I do sometimes wonder if it would be better for me to whip out the skinning group again.

    The Spirit Banking garbage going away will fix a lot of this though.
