Considering the size of Crowfall, which is just a simple PvP MMO, without PvE or a story or anything, and not having its own engine even, ah well, you people got no sense of what you are talking about.
This is such a basic game, this is basic game development, nothing more, nothing ambitous like Star Citizen or anything, really just the basic stuff of game development. Its very much doable in 3 years without any worries about money.

A soft launch in 2018 would really be late for a game the scale of Crowfall.
But development so far wasnt that great to be honest. So it could very likely become 2018.
There is a whole lot missing, which should have been done already.

Its a shame, all those great things people have built.
They arent allowed from an ethical standpoint to shut that game down. People wont accept that.
The company, Daybreak, is done for now for sure, this was the last nail into their coffin.
These people arent worth any time or money.
The world is doing better without these useless idiots.

very unlikely before 2020, at best in 2020, if not later. This stupid space setting takes soo much time and work.

I just hope on Star Citizen and Destiny 2. Star Citizen will take far too long, there probably wont be a game even in 2020. This space setting id ridiculous, so much work goes into the space technology and everything, but thats not game content, its just a huge waste of work.

I am aware of this game, but I really really have enough of these crappy youtubers, they are nothing else than cheap marketing instruments, well not cheap anymore, some take thousands of dollars for makinf paid videos. I got really enough of all this crap, the gaming industry just really sucks, because the people are all crap.

If the game is any good at release, it will sell and people will come. Many people mention this game already, and are looking forward to it, but if it wont fulfill peoples expectations, its gonna fail. People also have different expectations, but it must be interesting and fun somehow.
Many people wait for when the game is gonna release. To see if its good or not.

Crowfall needs a new Business Case, including more specific game design.  After spending a few years, ACE needs to take a break and reconsider.
Don't get me wrong - Crowfall isn't bad, not at all.  It's incomplete.  But there's enough to lay bets that the game won't be half as interesting or successful as it could be unless significant changes are considered.
Now is the perfect time to think and constructively rebuild!
What we have is a great start for any small scale MMO.  The test servers have significant functionality.  The player base is enthusiastic.  Support is epic.  The problem is at the higher level, where the game design (as indicated by all sources, including FAQ and PR videos) is full of ideas with minimal rigor or coherence.  The game is currently communicated by Manifesto rather than Business Case.  One can be clearly evaluated, the other cannot.
More specifically, development appears to be unduly influenced by both old school MMOs and recent handheld games / apps.  Crowfall repeats too much of the heavy MMO development tropes, while simultaneously gunning for handheld and app-level simplicity in critical areas.  Some might call this a unique recipe for success.  No.  It's accidentally adding gristle while overcooking something unknown, somewhere between a hotdog and a 5 course meal.  Everything that made those game genres successful -- unique role playing, entertaining grouping, fluid combat, dynamic populations, low barriers to entry, etc -- is promised, but supplied in questionable, incompatible doses.  Real world success is not usually done with numerous, lucky assumptions and infinite iterations.   That's precisely what a Business Case identifies.
It's all fixable.  Everything -- passive training, VIP, combat, EKs, etc.  But everything should be on the chopping block when ACE starts focusing on the next step of what makes Crowfall unique.  Crowfall needs high quality combat, strong role interactions, and wickedly intelligent Campaign Worlds.  I'm sure some will argue that's exactly where they're going.  They'll say that progress to date has been excellent with a small team.  Those with experience making tough decisions under uncertainty know how to evaluate the "status quo" after a couple of years of development and make steering corrections.  IMO Crowfall is due.  They need to do it now before trying to half-*ss it under duress later.
Good luck with the game, peeps.   Inb4 "don't let the door hit you on your way out".  Exactly!  Better things to do ATM, yet still hoping Crowfall is the best game ever developed...

109000 threads in GD since the game forums came online, not a very good number.  I know its Alpha, but with the serious lack of new games recently released and not much new on the horizon (as well as WoW's continuing bleeding in subscriptions) I would think the fire for this game would be burning brighter.
Do you think the devs are worried? Are you?
    Thoughts?

@Urahara I understand that you are disappointed of the hard delays of the game. ( me too)  But i guess 3-4 years is a standart development time for mmoish games. Just chill and judge the game when it is full released ( expect 2018 for that) and if it's never published so be it than. (not a big thing for me) There a tons of other games to come in future you can pick from, just stay calm and don't rage/insult every week again in the forums, we get your point man but if you already done with crowfall why are you still here spread around your old opinions mixed with some obvious trashtalk and wasting your time ? (And seriously why are you so in rage with crowfall development, I in your place would just quit following the project and don't care about it, in the end it is just a pc game. You seem to be in a rage mode or something :D)

The game isnt in Pre-Alpha, its Alpha and soon Beta.
And you cant excuse everything with that its Alpha.
Honestly the parcels were made in 5 minutes, and they look like it.
All the trees already look really terrible for itself, they are nothing else than standard Unity Engine trees I bet.
And the parcels look like a total unexperienced person went into Unity Engine and made them.
Even I could make better landscapes in Unity Engine probably.
And dont think they will make new parcels or so, this is the final design.
The parcels really look terrible and boring, totally amateur. I wouldnt accept such work if I was a producer.
The parcels are basically all flat terrain with some trees placed here and there.
I was looking at Rend recently, this game is very similar to Crowfall and even got the same art design/style.
But damn, this game looks just soo much better.
And not only do the graphics look so much better, but the landscapes, the game world, look so much better and so much more interesting as well.

Look at the video. This is real Pre Alpha. And compare that to Crowfall almost in Beta.

Sorry to intrude but you cant in 2016 say that graphics dont matter. Unless you really make the combat and strategy the most awesome stuff ever made you cant neglect the other 'small' stuff.
Following your train of thought Graphics(Or atmosphere) dont matter, neither does the "PvE", the lore or even how crafting is supposed to work. I am pushing it up a little but the point is the same: Unless you make the PvP the best thing ever (we are far from it) you cant just depend on that.
For example i saw a couple of posts complaining about how empty the world feels but that is totally irrelevant for PvP.

All.. As a developer myself I know what pre-alpha, alpha and beta means. Why did I post this topic? The developers ask to post opinions on the forums when you close the game, so I did.
Replies like "The game is in Pre-Alpha.  Wonderful insight." doens't help Crowfall, in fact I think it is destructive for the development in general. As long as we have constructive discussions between eachother and the developer it will benefit Crowfall in the end! I expressed my opinion about the current parcel size and graphics, I don't know if they are final and I don't care. I hope the Crowfall devs can use my topic to improve the game.

    So,
Before we all got some testing EK parcels to play around I played with my own parcels.. some farmland, a woodland grove and a shire parcel.
In the beginning I didn't know what to think about the parcels. For example the shire parcel doesn't have the perfect flat spot for the fort it came with. But I also had the feeling things feel a bit small compared what I expected based on the store information. While the shire parcel felt "long" enough the "width" feels just too small.
With the woodland grove I expected a nice forest but it felt more like some tree growing together, although I must admit my English is not my native language. After I Googled "Tree grove" I found https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grove_(nature) and it seems the woodland grove is rather spot on
With the current testing session we all got a Woodland Hills parcel and a Woodland Creek parcel. Those two parcels I find really underwhelming. For example the hills don't feel like hills but more like couple lumps of sand and the creek is more like a ditch of water.
All in all I got the same feeling with the Villa I got. It just doesn't feel like a Villa.
I don't know if the designs are in an (almost) final state but I wanted to express my concern. With the EK's being an unique Crowfall selling point it would be a shame if people find the EK's "meh" when they actually walk around in their EK.
Thanks for reading and I hope the Crowfall team will read the topic.

They mentioned that you wont be able to place a stronghold where ever you want. This was known already.
You guys got no idea what you are talking about.
It was clear that in the beginning of testing of course you wouldnt be able to place strongholds where ever you want.
Also think of how that would turn out, everybody can place a construction side where he wants? What are conditions to be able to place one and which kind of stronghold? How does this get coordinated in a faction or guild based campaign world? How does caravans work and rebuilding a keep from resources? So for example place a keep next to a mine and your walls will always be repaired fast? And for a Fort place it next to a lumbermill?
It would be Chaos really. You guys overhyping.
Thing is you would place them strategically and ACE is gonna place them strategically as well, so there is no point of who places them, but its just a whole lot more complicated to let you place them and how that should work.
This is Sparta (Campaign worlds)! Not your fluffy Athen (Eternal kingdoms).

The people are fun, thats why I play this game, and GW 2 got much to offer, but in the end its an old school MMORPG still and outdated by now. The future are games like Star Citizen or EverQuest Next, innovative MMO games. Or even just a well made PvP MMO, small like Crowfall, or bigger like Chronicles of Elyria.
And in all honesty, that ACE still got nothing to offer or show, is really a very bad sign, doesnt give you any confidence into them.
