Agreed, and I've played both races on the same class to be sure. Everyone will take the blank and camo over what Half-Elf offers, until that it offers is improved. That means you just wasted a ton of art and animation time on something no-one will ever see.

There are a few races I think are sub-par. Half-elf being one of them. Guinea being the other one (thanks for the racial ability only one spec of one class can use effectively).
The idea of racial disciplines is very cool for sure, but needs a few more iterations. I'll take 18m blink and camo over a 7m dodge roll and ability slot every day of the year

I disagree. I think crowfall should be like.... well Crowfall. It's a unique game already. Scratch that, it's a unique idea. BECAUSE ITS NOT EVEN A GAME YET.
People are asking for a complete shift in gameplay design before the gameplay design has even been fully implemented.
Plus this is not a great idea in a full loot game. You can't have low health pools, people getting two or three shot, and losing all their stuff. That's a good way to lose players.
I don't think crowfall is fine as is...because it's not even crowfall yet. It's just a glorified arena fight at the moment. Give some time for all the gameplay designs to be implemented and look at it again then
-edit- not to mention a big part of the game, sieging, would be impossible with very low health pools and long CD defensive powers.

Try it on a Centaur.  Uses one of the old Legionnaire animations and is quite badass.
Centaur best Champion IMO. That 20% armor break, plus the group attack power buff, plus trailmaster out of combat....better than the MIno stun immunity and Berserk, IMO.

Censure is just a result of server lag and poor performance.
In terms of Templar, they are easily the best tank right now in the game. Their kit is incredibly stacked already, and they don't need anything else. Giving them mobility without taking anything away is going to make what is already happening worse, every class getting everything. Their open field fight is great, especially with coordinated groups. Divine light is an insane area control ability, holy warrior provides plenty of defense to at least get to a healer, group heals from devotion can get up to like 800 a parry under right circumstances. They definitely don't need a 3rd tray AT ALL.
You can't just give a class everything. It needs weaknesses and ways for other classes to exploit it. Templar is an incredible strong and solid base class as is

    1. Because the developers have said it's a niche title that will appeal to a niche audience. If you read comments on those videos most of the people are turned off because it's full PvP and very punishing in certain aspects. The people who signed up for beta are simply interested in trying the game...emphasis on trying. There is no guarantee all those players will stick around for the long run.
    2. VIP is not game changing, not sure where you got that idea. It's true that many games do that, but many games are not MMORPGS with a lot of overhead. Plus bigger player bases with easier to develop assets.
    3. It's not a viable business plan, especially at the launch of a game, because it is not guaranteed. It is not steady. And it is not something you can reliably build a budget around. Especially not until you have purchase data from time that the game has already spent being played after launch. I'm not saying that it's not possible to run a game on cosmetics...I'm saying it's unreliable when you don't have data to build a budget around.
    4. Because the devs have again stated that skill progression is a long-term shallow curve power system. Most of your immediate power will come from gear, vessels, and disciplines.

A lot of this stuff you think everyone is "assuming" are not assumptions. Because we have been testing for at least a year, personally, and much longer than a year for other people. We've already had these debates a long time ago. We've already gotten responses from the devs about the issues we raised

I'll say it here and say it over and over moving forward. Knee-jerk changes to current meta are never a good idea. Yah the wood-elf ranger is pretty cancer but it won't be around forever...it's important to look at class mechanics as just the mechanics they are, and not how they fir or don't fit into current balance.
Part of the game, I wish it was much much larger than it is, is making the choice between for example: taking a movement ability or your class parry. And it's important that you are forced to make those choices because it opens up interesting inter-play between allies and counter-play between enemies.

Oh really? I knew about severe overriding moderate. Did not know that electrocute and gaeas wail did not stack. How unfortunate. How long ago did you test? I'll have to take a look today as well.

Will hard restrictions be more frustrating than useful? Hard to think about without seeing it in practice.

Heh thanks Nch! Was definitely fun to fight everyone. Definitely try it out! Lots of different options to go for. Just needed to have some fun with a different playstyle. Tough to keep up with the ranger damage and mobility though.

Thanks! Yah I love the blade master disc...very strong imo. The reason I did it with Templar is because I'm *pretty sure* holy warrior turns the Dot's into holy damage which is unmitigated.
I definitely missed having parry but it was a fun experiment and I plan to make a build series at some point.
Hahaha good luck hitting it is right. I've had varying success running mole hunter but the root is incredibly unreliable. When you hit it followed by electrocute though....ooooh baby those are fun numbers to see

Yah...I think that's smart usage of discipline combinations and trays. I don't think just because Templar doesn't get access to a third tray means they should get free access to both dodges and parry. But I definitely see the argument on the other side, just my personal preference. I suppose we could introduce a different style melee tray via a disc for Templar to achieve the same effect...however I don't necessarily like everyone having access to a bunch of trays. I already think Bow discs shouldn't give you an extra tray but rather extra ability slots and a hotkey to switch your weapon setup. As is, one reason bow discs are incredibly strong is because they give you an extra 8 ability slots. That's crazy when otherwise you need to dedicate disc slots or a racial to get ONE.
I think I kinda rambled there. Basically just trying to say...I don't think anyone should necessarily have access to both mobility powers and block/parry powers.
I'd argue that knight block needs to be more predictable than parry personally. Parry hits super hard, is a knockdown, and doesn't have an ICD. I like it, it forces the Templar to be aware of their pips and how the fight/CDs might come out...and save their pips accordingly to parry or use other skills.
That said, some pip costs on disc powers are insane. And I never run Templar without weapon finesse for that exact reason.

I think just having access to both abilities is where the strength comes in. But I would definitely be alright theorizing about it.

I think that would be far too strong. Another case of being able to give everyone everything. You should definitely need to make the hard choice choice of mobility or party

And surprisingly it felt pretty alright very reliant on hitting your bleed combo and retribution strike tho. Miss those and the fight becomes 3x harder!

Compilation of random fights I got into over the holidays here. Ran into A LOT of 3 man and 4 man groups but did the best I could and learned a lot for sure. Was fun to get back into playing Templar as it has been far too long since I've hopped on.
Experimented with about 3 different builds, as well as using nethari dash instead of parry. Felt pretty meh in 1v1's, I think the extra mobility in group fights will be very helpful though.

Surprised the server handled it that well, looked pretty laggy at times and spell effects definitely all over the place but overall, looked pretty solid
