    I think a lot of the investors in this community would verbalize their dissent if it were going down the trendy path of MMOs. I invested into this game because a group of people that I trust to make a game that I enjoyed in the past (SWG-- and that was a ridiculously clunky game in it's early days too), who gave the public an image of a game they want to make, but bringing in as many of the old systems that made those games enjoyable in the first place. These guys (mind you, these guys are all literally the crème de la crème of game developers) are pulling from all of their old systems, the things that we, the players, loved. Maybe watching the murder of crows will give you more faith in them (of course im not saying it will 100% succeed, I can't read the future). I've been heartbroken by games on release, and I've learned not to preorder... but Crowfall was the last game I've ever backed. These guys are not in it just for the money... these guys love what they do, and they want to be the best at it, the money is just a means to that dream. Shame on those who think otherwise.

    First of all, it was a suggestion, so nothing is set in stone. Second of all, it wouldn't be detracting from the rest of the game. It would probably be like an arena thing that they might award skill tomes or something. You could discuss it but I think this is probably the wrong thread for that.

    Leave it to the creative minds in the development process to come up with, in my humble opinion- GENIUS solutions to problems like these. I don't think it'll keep people from stream sniping but it would give CF streamers more of a reason to! Brilliant. I'd definitely like to see that game mode. Even one where a player could be like a world boss and have a bunch of people try to take them down.

    I think it would make sense that they show it as 'mitigation' or 'resistance'. Though, I do find it a lot easier to understand damage resistances in Eve, where if you had 90% resistance in something that means you're only taking 10% damage in that way. It doesn't bother me either way (and it's actually neat they specifically have a skill to mitigate critical damage). Modifying it by -3% is fairly straight forward, but I could just have a weirdly wired brain.

    @HmeHx Don't worry, the #1 problem I see on the forums is probably the hold F to gather. I am 99.98% certain that'll be changed. Probably everything from 1-4 will be fixed, and 5 will be an input option... probably.

    For all of the problems people have with the game atm mechanically and design-wise, I think people keep forgetting one important thing... The game is still Pre-Alpha 5 (is it Alpha or Pre-Alpha? It feels like Alpha but they call it pre-alpha), with most core mechanics not even properly conceptualized (if they are the devs aren't letting people in on it until it's been checked). Problems with performance and game mechanics WILL be resolved, since they make the game. Another note: A major issue mentioned by pretty much everyone even if not directly stated is that the game is going to be too hard for the general masses? I think that's true if you're only a solo player. To be fair I don't see solo players enjoying the game. It was made for groups of people, guilds. If you thought of being your own "Hero", you probably didn't know what you were buying into. The casual matches that want to try out the game and burn alone are going to burn out quickly. I mentioned this in another thread but I'll say it here: Their idea of a trinity system is the Combat, Crafting, and Harvesting. The people who want to be basically the best PvPers who trained into Combat will guard the harvesters and crafters, while the harvesters who are ripped enough to pop higher tier nodes (trained enough into that particular harvesting tree) for the crafters so they can continue to provide better tools, vessels, gear, and items for the combat and harvesting oriented people so the whole thing doesn't collapse to rivals. It's a symbiosis. And ultimately, you skeptical folks should take what I say with a grain of salt, since I think it's whats gonna happen and not something I know for certain. We'll forget this thread in the future probably.

    Ultimately, I do agree with you that there appears to be a disparity in interest with player skill and occupation vs difficulty in certain worlds-- and ultimately, it'll be friends who trained for combat who are good in PvP to fight for the weak harvesters and crafters, and for the harvesters to harvest for the not-so-buff crafters who cant smash tier 10 nodes to gives crafters the resources to work with, and for those crafters to boost the combat-oriented players to continue to protect and assist allies that don't focus on combat. In a way it's a new trinity system.

    Actually, I am reading the 'When your favorite Indie gets money' and I now see that. A lot of what is mentioned there is brought up here I feel bad for making all the points I did in the wrong thread lol.

    Yeah I have, I thought it was lacking-- but considering it is the first legendary item, the fact that no one knows the difference on the power scale when coming to items that are crafted, and that no one can play a campaign world with such difficult settings in the first place, there should be some things tested before we completely disregard them. Hell, they haven't figured out what a good quality over speed gap between crafting certain items will be yet. We don't know if those are the final numbers, and we don't know how profitable it will be to create an item. Of course the numbers are going to start small, but I am sure they will find a beautiful balance between a common, uncommon, rare, epic and legendary item. This is why things get nerfed and buffed in MMO's, when the players start complaining. Another note: It almost seems like people who are complaining about certain CW's being too difficult are being turned off to a sign that says "If you enter, and if you die, sorry not sorry," when they're at a theme park with many other options besides that. There are roller coasters that are easy, and there are roller coasters that might make you throw up. If you don't trust yourself to not throw up if you ride the hard one, DONT RIDE IT. Why should you tell the manager of the park "Nah, this one should be shut down because it's too scary" when they're making money off of the thrill-seekers? If anything, the competition will be more severe if nobody is brave enough besides the PvP junkies. Are you saying it's a waste of development time to invest in severe campaign worlds?

    We don't know how difficult it will be to get certain discipline runes. I know certain disciplines play an integral role to even the abilities a player will have, which is understandable if a discipline could be perma-lost. Then again, they said everything in the game will be consumable. I think the runecrafters are going to be one of the most valued crafting professions personally, not just for making tools for harvesters, but for the builds of ALL vessels. Ultimately, they can add any campaign with any difficulty setting, and it's up to the players to voluntarily join them. Each campaign will probably have rule descriptions for import/export, so some people may not even be able to bring in their best builds, because import rules aren't implemented, but export rules are.

    Honestly, it's all hypothetical. Once again, the devs have said, greater risk, greater reward-- I think players are willing to make sacrifices at a chance for some shiny vessels or resources for gear. EDIT: I TOTALLY forgot about the CW's that would prevent you from participating again if you died. That's actually quite intimidating. But I am sure there is something even more valuable for people who want to do that. Do you mean actual skill tree time being lost? or are you talking about the vessel attributes for a particular vessel? Edit: I am just confused on what you mean when you say 'builds'.

    @KrakkenSmacken Doesn't just sound great in theory, it was originally the loot system they imagined for the Dregs campaign. They had a vision of it. I'm not saying that should be the combat system for the entirety of Crowfall, not every campaign should be a total "survival of the fittest", but isn't that was PvP is? Hell, most EK's wont have PvP if I think the game is going where I think it's going. When I bought into the game, I assumed the worst, that there would be people who want to kill me for a piece of gear I had, or for sport, or perhaps for bragging rights-- whether or not i consented, and that excites me. The same is true for me, why be the victim when I can make victims? Also, I embrace the fact that I can and probably will be owned by other players. I played Eve Online, probably the most hard-core, steepest learning curve MMO since 2003, and lost several shiny ships-- ships that didn't return to my hands, because they were completely obliterated by more prepared and more experienced players. I even had the pleasure of experiencing a ship being stolen from me because I ejected instead of self-destructing my ship. I learned after several deaths how to not lose my expensive ships (I even had ships worth $200 in game assets that were destroyed). Don't get me wrong, I was upset, but it also wasn't rl money, it was time I spent grinding away those items, and the in game money required to field such items. The number one rule in Eve is "Don't fly what you don't want to risk losing," and that has always been my mantra, it reminds me it was my fault to die since I made myself vulnerable in the world. I consented when I signed up to play that game. And guess what? I love it, I still feel the adrenaline rush in PvP because I know if i die in that game, I am losing what I have. Edit: This isn't a play-nice game, it's a PvP focused, SURVIVAL, "Throne War" sim. I think Game of Thrones when I hear that, and when I think of Game of Thrones, i think of tears and blood. Maybe this game isn't for you?
