The biggest disappointment of today was that there was still vendors with all the free crap.
We really thought 5.8 would hit live, with that weird first message.
We had 20+ people ready at the time, just to be redirected into the test client..
Please announce days in advance when 5.8 is going live, and please fix your external communication, it's exactly this kind of crap that kills hype.

Regarding the white quality resource vendor...could you make it 100 gold per 20 resources instead of 5 gold per 1? I don't think anyone wants to right-click that many times.

Nivhawk reacted to Helix in General consensus on combat?
I'm not going to make a poll, cause, well there is already a ton of those as it is. What I'm interested in is everyone's opinion of combat OUTSIDE of aiming / hit boxes / hit scan / etc.
    My thoughts?
Combat is in a rough spot. It's not necessarily bad, but it's not "great". I'd be hard pressed to call it even "good". Maybe decent at it's best. It's not "popping". There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of "oomph". Some of this might be due to the budget animations (understandable considering manpower and time), and class designs.  Disciplines, a system that I thought should've pushed character customization and combat to the next level, hurts it more due to the "more is better" philosophy the developers have adopted. I'd rather have fewer disciplines with better animations, better over all ability design and less redundancy / repetitiveness (I'm looking at you escape artist). Combos don't really add much to combat, IMO they make it feel more "scripted".  Melee attacks lack real "impact", this might be an unfortunate side effect of the floaty combat; I still prefer the faster pace of what we have now over what we had originally with the awkward ass root motions. While this might be outside the bounds of just combat mechanics, I feel class design factors a ton into this. Classes feel extremely limited, even WITH disciplines. If we are to believe that disciplines won't be as easily accessible come release we might have a real problem. Combat becomes stale far too fast even WITH disciplines, so imagine sitting on the same bar of actives for weeks.

Glad to see that critical failures/item loss will be removed from possible outcomes on assembly (edit: Based on Blair's post earlier in thread). That being said, and like other testers, I think making an unexperimentable template is a step in the right direction but something I hope continues to evolve as we move closer to launch. I also would stand behind the brilliant idea posted earlier that making experimenting actual experimenting, and not gambling, with eccentric results would be fantastic.

This would also put the "experiment" in "experimentation"; right now we're not really experimenting, we're gambling.

Critical failures should be changed to a new category, unexpected outcome. Build a table of effects (some strange, many detrimental and at least a couple that are awesome). At least this way you can find an interesting way to explain your weapon being -10 damage to guenecians.
You could inject some weapons into the economy that are +30 against wood elves for instance but are -20 against everything else. People might put them in their inventory (risk/reward) for fights to use for certain situations yet might lose them should they get killed in the course of action.

I'm not sure doing away with the complete failures as described for 5.4 will so much fix the underlying issues so much as cover them up.

There is something seriously wrong with Crafting RNG, and I don't know if this carries over into Experimentation or not.
It doesn't seem to, but it's hard to be sure, though my own frustrations with the Experimentation system being so RNG based are somewhat different.

I have made 120 attempts now at a "final combine" for weapons. 114 of them have been successful and I have not failed ONE in the last 45-50 attempts.
Due to Experimentation RNG though 80% of these are junk weapons.
And then you have the opposite side of the coin where players are failing consecutively night after night...(and have been doing so for MONTHS)
Either way there is an underlying issue, this currently creates unrealistic expectations and frustrations with the state of the game's crafting system.
5.4 will only complicate things further, I hope it all turns out for the better.

I’m pretty much against critical failures on final combine. Critical failure on components might be alright, but to lose everything is enough to make me throw my keyboard and monitor out the window. Infuriating.

Currently, you could play alone but things will take more time and be significantly more dangerous. Solo play is doable if you mix Class and Disciplines to tailor to that playstyle but gathering, crafting, gearing, fighting and learning overall will become significantly more difficult.

    2.1 The Killjoy Experience
Killjoy is a primarily PvP guild which will have a strong focus on campaigns. Killjoy will be based out of out a single Eternal Kingdom with a large inventory of buildings and parcels. We will have a division for PvPers, a company for Merchants, and a league for Crafters. We will always strengthen and build each of these aspects for our members to ensure we're always providing a rewarding and engaging experience.

PvP Division - PvP will be structured with an organized rank system, clear chain of command, and well-communicated set of expectations and requirements. Goals and expectations will be set so that they are progressive and competitive as well as achievable. We expect everyone to of course push for their own personal progression but also be interested the big picture of the team’s progression.

Merchant Company - Our Merchant Company’s primary objectives are to keep our guild mates well-stocked and provisioned while also stimulating a strong, centralized trading hub for all players in the EK and Campaigns. By working towards these objectives our merchants will accomplish many goals: strengthening Killjoy’s PvPers and Crafters, making significant contribution to the war effort, and making a rewarding profit without having to travel far.

Crafter’s League - The Crafting League within Killjoy will also have an organized rank structure. Our crafters will have the benefit of a strong, multi-directional support system. Our PvPers and Merchants will bring in goods and resources Crafter’s may need while also providing customers for crafted products. Crafters will be able to experience Crowfall’s crafting systems to the utmost; you’ll play and game in a community that provides support, encouragement, and constant source of consumers.

    1: Introductions

    1.1 RGC
Welcome to the recruitment page of Killjoy, the Crowfall guild of the Resplendence Gaming Community (RGC). RGC has a dedicated core membership with a vast pool of experience from various MMOs. The common thread among our members is the desire to engage in meaningful play with like-minded people. We like to optimize the use of our time with players who share our values and are easy going! We require active participation from all of our members on Discord (which serves are our community’s forums) and Teamspeak. Other community guidelines can be found in our application here.

RGC’s members are generally from North America. However, players from all over the world are welcomed and accommodated (UK, Chile, and Australia for example). We have an extremely diverse group of people with equally diverse backgrounds, histories, and interests. This diversity shines during our hosted [possibly drunken] community events which might include bingo with prizes, trivia, and Cards Against Humanity. RGC welcomes and celebrates diversity. We believe it promotes respectful engagement and prevents the community from coming an echo-chamber.

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    1.2 Killjoy
The founding members of Killjoy are members of RGC that have played together for years.
We have an extensive gaming arsenal, including games like Star Wars: The Old Republic, Black Desert Online, Ark, Minecraft, and Albion Online. The backgrounds of our members will bolster our ability to be a steadily competitive Crowfall guild. We have players who have a decade's worth of hardcore PvP experience and players who have been master economists, builders, and strategists.

The core values of the leadership in Killjoy will be reflected in the conduct of the guild:
To provide an engaging community To be competitive in the PvP domain To be comfortable in a respectful gaming environment
We are here to protect and respect the time you commit to gaming. However, providing this positive experience isn’t a unilateral endeavor. Members will be expected to participate in a give and take relationship. This predicates the necessity of open lines of communication between members.
