  1. Dead scout ain't no good for nothing.
  2. Maybe its the other way around, and there is only hell and eternal damnation? Heaven just a fantasy, made up to soothe our savage souls.
  3. Don't make it easier for the megazerg to manage their zerg.
  4. I like the idea of a special fresh toon - so everyone starts at zero for training/etc. Server rush would be a serious rush - people beating each other to death with sticks and rocks.
  5. So, why would a guild who is obviously winning accept someone's surrender? Really, only if the campaign is no longer any fun for them. If the other side surrenders, but its not accepted, I see two possible outcomes: 1) the loser will adobe guerrilla tactics as much as they can, preventing the other side from resource accumulation 2) the loser will just abandon that campaign, spending time in their EK or on an alt in a different campaign, ceding the resources to the winner but also boring them to death, as there won't be anyone to fight. Depending on the level of domination, option 1 may not be feasible, in which case its option 2 only. I can see where we might want to make the rules such that option 1 is a little more viable to keep the campaigns going as long as possible.

Don't disagree with you. And I was being a little extreme to try to be funny. But yeah, deadlifts.
  8. Centaur spear warrior would be a great choice for a noob.

Anyone who seriously trains at Planet Fitness needs to check their commitment to training. I guess if you have no other choice - but I have seen better gyms in cheap hotels. Crossfit gyms are nice, but way too full of themselves, and way too expensive. Most communities have an old school place where real work and gains happen - figure out where it is. Luckily I set myself up in my basement, so I can drop all the weights I want, do any exercise I want, throw chalk around like Tony Montana in Scarface and drink beers while I lift. Remember, beer is anabolic!
  10. its not just a game of math. Now the outcome is derived by how you play the toon, rather than dumb luck. Certainly, gearing up properly will be important as well. (using plate armor to counter slashing attacks, or seeing someone in plate, and then switching your attack to crushing damage) for example. I don't see the harm in eliminating RNG and damage ranges. It allows true nuts and bolts min/max analysis. OTOH, I always was kind of fond of procs, which allowed someone who had a certain damage style, to be able to add a second style in. (a melee with a proc for fire damage for example) I don't see how a proc would work well without RNG. If you just put it on a cooldown, that would be kind of lame, and if you made it proc at the end of a damage chain, that would also defeat the purpose (for me anyhow)

I compete in highland games and some strongman - so lots of training with weights (both powerlifting and olympic), stones, grip strength, etc.
  12. Hopefully we will have a variety of combat opportunities. I am more afraid of the 1v1 dueling bs than gvg. The faction rule sets may set up more of the zvz stuff, but with 3 or 12 factions, hopefully that will make it more interesting.
  13. This is why WM eats poorly made socks - thinking that a 10v10 tourney is the pinnacle of SB prowess.
  14. EKs have to matter "just enough" to counter the impermanence of the Campaigns. What I have seen so far seems to indicate that it is pretty close to ideal.
  15. This is very good stuff. I like how EK is just important enough to rouse passion into the campaigns. I am still a little confused as to the mechanism for how guilds/nations will form their kingdom... It appears that the "Guild leader" will be the one to own the EK and be the monarch, and then she would assign land, space, and titles to her guildees dependent upon their rank, but it does seem a little "ad hoc". For example, as a subscriber, I have my own EK, but my guild has a main EK as well. Do I build on both of them, or best to concentrate all my efforts on the guild EK? Will it be an advantage for a particular guild to have lots of various kingdoms to go to, or one superbig one?
  16. • I think it will be to the benefit of the politics and overall game to keep people/guilds/nations in a single campaign at a time. If people are campaign hopping all over the place, then it can be difficult to feel invested in the outcome of a single campaign. • While somewhat interesting to see a campaign with a single character per player, especially since the hunger will make the characters more or less effective as time passes on the campaign, I find this less interesting than for guilds to be able to use strategy when it comes to the kind of fighting style they choose to bring to an encounter. • I honestly don't see the issue with logging an alt on after dying in a battle, but without knowing some of the mechanics for death penalties, login locations, etc., I suppose this could be a minor issue which might need to be tweaked to prevent pay to win. Log in timers are ridiculous though - imposing such an annoying penalty which probably won't be successful deterrence in the end. • there are certainly going to be those folks who decide to pay for multiple accounts so that they could potentially circumvent any restrictions. I don't see this as being such a huge advantage that it is worth trying to stop them, or not collecting their money. • The game's longevity for me will be determined somewhat by the number of alts I can roll, especially since training is cappable. I will want to experience all of the content, including playing all the archetypes, eventually, and then settling down and refining the one I enjoy playing the most.
  17. seems like this might be an easy rule which could be varied by campaign.

One guy, mad with power? -or- Design by committee? Both deliver absolutely atrocious results.
  19. Not to support either emulator, but Starfish does know a heck of a lot about balance, I do respect his knowledge of the game, and haven't noticed anything "in particular" which was under or overpowering. If manipulating the powers/balance is not your cup of tea, then clearly MB is the emulator for you. For me at least, the changes were interesting enough for me to give it a try. When is CF Alpha release????
  20. My list: Byr - thief Dayel - thief Bry and Kyler - priest Agelmar and Vandarr - Scout Teer - Wizard and thief Ralcor - Huntress Zanzabar and Conspiracy - Confessor Steele and AceofClubs - Warrior Memphisto (RIP, buddy) - Channeler Damebix - Bard Guild Leaders - Halethrain, Dubanka, Conman, Chet, Caliman - all presided over guilds that I fought or were part of and seemed to do an excellent job herding the cats.
