  1. Saw this over on the LotD boards. Obs led LoD to become one of the greatest veteran guilds still around today. I was lucky enough to interact with him a number of times across many games and he remains truly one of the greats. Fair Wind and Following Seas! Rest In Peace
  2. During rough economic times the entertainment industry tends to get a boost as people are looking for an escape. That's not me encouraging anyone to ever invest in anything, but it's what is often taught in economics classes.
  3. Hi Youngtrotter, Tyrant is actually not just a GM but part of the dev team. He was defending simply what this phase of the testing is. This game is a survival game currently, similar to Day-Z and Ark, etc. As it stands, having a team of 3 people working together is usually enough to keep you alive and progressing. The PK element of the game is essential to assist with testing skills, inventory, looting, respawn mechanics, etc. As an example, I respawned and fell trough the earth. Considering that this game is a in depth crafting and PvP style game, you'll have to be prepared to experience both. The crowfall discord is a great place to find some folks to team up with. Good luck!
  4. I'm hopeful that we can get you some better gear so we can quit being forced to carry you!
  5. I don't know that they were more toxic than most of the forums I've frequented for bigger titles of late. ArcheAge, BlackDesert, Etc. However, there was a good number of people who wanted a wild west, which may organically grow eventually but their attempts to force it were ill-advised.
  6. http://community.crowfall.com/index.php?/topic/13977-wed-november-9-%E2%80%93-thu-november-10-bugs-anomalies-and-tech-issues-feedback/page-3 You might want to be aware of this forum/thread for the next go around. I'd guess it's checked more frequently and by the right eyes. See ya in game.
  7. That's on the table, but we don't mind letting ACE having some breathing room to do what they need to do.
  8. I've been back and having fun with the rest of our LotD folks.
  9. I'm not around much anymore, but they initially said that they were going to introduce a number of different types of attacks that they could apply to a number of different classes, but limited to a single class at a time. This would allow them to evaluate the attacks and balance them easier later on down the road.
  10. Thank you for continuing to check in Verot. We generally do not open up recruitment until open Beta, anyone prior to that who wants to join can find us in another game. Exceptions to that may happen in later alpha phases, but that's on a case by case basis.
  11. I'm in moderate agreement with @freeze about the availability of resources in the EK's, though it remains a topic that can be designed around. My follow up questions: 1. Will resources only be allowed to be imported at the beginning of campaigns, or will some allow you to import certain amounts every so often? 2. Were the resources in the EK's included to allow people who are building their EK's to have a more consistent stream of ore/etc? 3. Will the resources available in the EK be limited exclusively to those which are use to make basic components or gear? Effectively, when a group of players find the most efficient way to farm these resources, what is the cap to their capability? Thanks!
  12. EK's have been denounced as the salad bar at a steak house. It's there, not bad to have, but not why you're there. What hasn't been explained is how they are balancing these CW's and how they will tie together in a meaningful way. The dregs players go into campaigns that have little import.... so how can you force them to rely or interact with the population at large? Any interaction outside of the dregs campaigns is rendered useless. You can however force interaction by bringing everyone else into those campaigns and providing meaning to them. What we are bringing up though, is that with import rulesets, what is keeping this game from turning into a group of mega guilds or alliances from waging wars across campaigns as opposed to each campaign kicking off new and dynamic encounters?
  13. It's been said frequently that CW's are the main focus of this game and they want players focused on those as much as possible. To that extent, the relics/artifacts are not supposed to provide a great impact on CW's. They would be going back on quite a bit in order to bring it all together. Things seem to be tilting toward a gear driven, economy game that requires numbers to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  14. I have a reason but it requires a very small story. Player A- This person is a player who only goes into ZERO import campaigns because they value the fairness it brings to a new CW. Player B- This person prefers their EK and the conveniences of earning gear and being able to use it from the start in campaigns. Across the entire game, there are a number of Player A's and Player A guilds. There aren't enough to really build a game around though. Across the entire game, the numbers of Player B's is immense as they fill up all of the other CW's in all of the other bands and the EK's. If you create the dregs campaigns with import rulesets, Player A's won't go there because they value the fairness of 0% import. Player B's are no longer forced to interact with Player A's and Player A's become a significant minority within the game and are restricted to only playing against themselves. Now, if there are 0%, 10%, 50%, 100% import rulesets across each band... how do you balance the value of resources coming from those campaigns because different amounts of time/effort were invested into them? Players will identify whatever is the lowest risk measure to get resources and everything else will be cast to the wayside. ACE would be killing off anything that created an imbalanced Risk vs. Reward equation.
  15. If we agree to a fight and I bring a $500 gun and you bring a $40 knife, if I lose... sure I risked much more. But, I'd have to be pretty incompetent to lose. If we assume we both brought equal value to the campaign... If I brought a very unique $500 gun that I earned over months of hard work and it could stop bullets and you brought a gun that you bought for $500 after selling your VIP, we both brought $500 guns... but you're still far from an equal. Why reset the worlds if you allow those who had advantages in the last CW's to bring them into the new CW's?
  16. We've witnessed mega guilds form in any game that makes it an efficient means of progression and success. While the Low/No import campaigns allow players to avoid those "Uncle Bob" mega guilds, it's an issue that this system was built to tackle head on. Which is why these questions seem to have merit.
  17. His point is that the people who have the best stuff going into those campaigns brought that stuff from past successes and will have significant advantages over those who don't have those resources. Effectively, because you won, you'll have the best chance at winning again.
  18. I think as a design, ACE is looking to tie High Risk to Low Import, as they've said multiple times that the most valuable items will likely be in the most dangerous bands thus driving people to engage in those bands to be able to have some of the best stuff. While the exact rules are not in stone, if they allowed a dregs to vary too drastically from their base ruleset, it would have significant and unfair ramifications on the economy as a whole. A dregs player who can't import, or is greatly restricted on imports, will have no use for any mithril armor crafted in the EK.
  19. I'm not in here to just argue for the sake of arguing. I will use Elvine's list of streamers as an example. How is that useful to anyone? A very large number of them don't actually stream Crowfall regularly, if at all. That's not a shot taken at Elvine in any manner... but that's the issue you will run into with every thread. Then when your moderators start removing people, you'll get to deal with complaints over their modifications. Yeah, you can do this, but it's just creating work that does not provide any return on investment for you or the community at large.
  20. I understand that you still do not see the value in that forum, and I brought it up because the community itself asked for that yet you are proposing a new forum that to this point there are not enough resources to even fill. I also pointed to the forum, more accurately named "Crows of a Feather", which I believe serves as an indicator for the likely success of this newly proposed forum. The community activity overall is not capable of supporting "living, perpetual works-in-progress" and FAQ's/Guides would be rendered mostly pointless due to the frequency of developmental changes that reduce those to antiquated information. For reasons you've stated in all the times that something like this has been requested, you should offload these things to the player community to operate and manage. If you want this site to become a hub for information, you would need to rethink some of the earlier decisions about what level of player interaction you want to support via the forums. Assigning people to moderate this forum would lead you directly back to the same issues you've had since your first round of moderators. I think you'd avoid those issues only because of my earlier statement, that there's not enough content to warrant it anyway.
  21. Follow Up questions: 1. What % of time will be spent in the preparatory systems as opposed to being a capable participant in PvP? 2. While a "flatter than most" power curve is welcome, how will power curves affect the effectiveness of a new player, playing a melee class, in excellent gear/vessel against a veteran player, playing a ranged class, when in melee combat? 3. What results from a destroyed vessel when the player is unable to reach a graveyard due to it being controlled by other players?
  22. I would point out that the other "Community Projects" forum is almost completely dead and filled with unused/non-updated/inactive content. Assigning moderators to that forum wouldn't change that and there simply is not enough "Resources" out there to warrant their own forum. Arguments could be made that the forum is too fragmented already and should instead be consolidated in order to encourage more cross conversations about topics. Lastly, the best idea for a new forum would be one in which you title and label blatantly, possibly even with a pop-up, explaining that it will operate under seperate forum rules with a separate team of moderators. Forum Title: Crowfall Wargrounds Forum Permissions: All registered users can read/respond. All Backers can create new threads/polls Forum Rules: ABSOLUTELY NO "Not Safe For Work" content- defined NO Illegal Content- defined NO Doxxing- defined No Excessive spamming of forums- Not defined Forum Penalties: First WP- Assigned usergroup that creates a 5 minute delay between how often you post Second WP- 1 Week Suspension from all forum activity Third WP- 3 Month Forum Ban Moderator Team: Restricted to 3 ACTIVE moderatorsFirst moderator is determined by ACE Second moderator is a public vote within the Wargrounds Third moderator is a public vote from the community outside the Wargrounds To assign the 2nd WP and 3rd WP, the moderator team must reach a 2/3rds vote.
  23. I don't have the time to outline all of the information provided, but I did want to share the Thomas Blair interview he did with Crowns and Crows earlier tonight. Lots of great answers to quite a few questions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJPA7kunB5A
