Nothing better than a few versus the zerg. I could care less about you burning down my city. What I do care about is the fact you were so insulted in the first place that you guys wasted so much time in doing so.

JJ doesn't have as much influence over this movie as he did Star Trek. A lot of the people that did the original 4-6 have taken a huge role.

The sad part is that the forum policies are directed towards that audience with kids from (10-15) years old, and they push away the old hardcore crowd at the same time as @Cannibal mentioned for a while now in other closed topics on this forum. And those hardcore guys wlll probably fix your game @Jtodd - it`s really, really dissapointing, because I know many who don`t even custard bother with this game/forum at the moment for the exact same reasons.

Absolutely preposterous That's my thoughts on the boards currently.

-First off, not being able to talk guild politics is absolutely insane. INSANE. Every, and I mean every, pvp mmorpg allows their community to talk about this important subject. Political banter breeds competition, competition breeds activity, activity breeds money in Artcraft's pocket. Not to mention forum usage spikes, community involvement grows, and a whole other list of effects. This policy needs to change ASAP.

-No cursing allowed? Look, I'm a big proponent of free speech and in a game that offers more freedom than the average game out there means your going to end up with a lot of people like me. Now, I can kind've understand why you have a profanity filter for the boards, but I don't necessarily agree with it. Especially for the OT boards. However, the Guild section is ABSOLUTELY where profanity needs to be allowed. This is where kids come to whine after losing that siege. Or talk trash about winning that epic pvp battle. And even better yet, part of the way guilds establish dominance over others! For this forum to disallow profanity is like stepping back in time, and is going to stop a lot of people from truly getting the most out of this game. Shoot, I know people who didn't back the kickstarter because of this very reason!

    - Make two guild sections. One for recruitment and the place where the... undesirables can talk about their individual guild. Then the other about actual political discussion. But until that happens, you guys HAVE to change this particular section around to allow the above mentioned policies.

To be plain, it is just killing me how you guys are impeding the growth of this community. If you don't see how, then my expectations for Crowfall will/has unfortunately drop. After all, a game's forum is oftentimes just as important as any crucial part of the actual game.

It is my sincere hope that you guys had a plan in the future to seriously revamp the boards to be somewhat similar to what I posted, but you guys need to up your timeline. The community will be crippled til then.

I advocated for political forums for a long time.  I believe that the support of political interaction to allow the persistence of conflict within the game to proceed through discussion during the day and then be birthed again into the game that night is what would elevate Crowfall into something of legend.  I agree that the most ideal way is for Artcraft to reverse their position on the moderation practices of the forum in order to support the depth of conflict that will arise, but this was squashed quite some time ago.

ACE has made it quite apparent that these forums will be operated in a manner that is respectable to the outside community.  These forums will be friendly and welcoming to new members.  These forums will not house maliciousness being directed toward any of its members.  These forums will not accommodate what we have come to know as "forumfall".

They have made mention of allowing guilds to create private subforums that they can manage themselves and invite anyone they want to.  From what I can foresee, this will simply turn into power-plays for guilds and at the end of the day, the system will cause more consternation for ACE and those who use it than if they didn't exist to begin with.  I respect your request CYT, but they've spent so much time and money on setting these forums up to not support it, that I can't imaging them investing money to revert back to a state that would accommodate such a request.

Game will launch someday (some fun stuff may start in beta), people are going to trash talk each other on the forums, regardless of whether or not the mods say not to. Threads will get created, pictures linked, trash talked, threads locked, threads re-created, threads locked some more, some downtime, new stuff, new threads. I suppose the CMs would prefer that in guild recruitment threads, the general discussion and such, that's their choice. Can't stop it.

Book 6, while at first is a little off-putting due to the fact that it seemly follows another story, is one of my favorite books in the series. That book literally sets the stage for many more to come, and all of the old characters get intertwined with it in pretty epic ways. If you get a chance to, reread the whole series. It's amazing what you'll have missed the first go around.

But your right about Erikson's butchery. GRRM is nothing when compared to him. I still think of Coltaine's March every now and then, and how disgruntled I was.

To answer your question though, he's talking about Glen Cook's The Black Company. A great book, but it's aged just a tad too much for me though. Although, Tolkien's works have aged insurmountably worse in my opinion.
