    Agreed, looking back on my post KS video and its like almost everything has changed.
    And I whole heartedly agree the current soft launch, permenant skill trainning, p2w catch up mechanic (how it will be viewed) is going to kill this game the second it officially launches

    This wouldn't be a major overhaul.  And it would be one that is actually worth taking because right now what they are doing is unintuitive for a successful launch and life for the game.

    I believe Krakken presented this idea a while ago somewhere and I always liked it. I think the current progression system is a huge slow boring turn off with a p2w mechanic tied in, which is a bigger turn off.

    It will never be done, but when it will launch who knows anymore.  It was said to be this year but that was a few months ago before they added more things to work on. 
    I think they are quite a ways away from a successful launch and a point where not wiping anymore would be good. 
    It would actually be smarter for the game as a whole if they just decided to move skill-training to a per campaign format where you start at 0 (early game) and train up and get stronger as a campaign goes on.  This would allow them to soft launch without permanently punishing players that won't play until the game is more complete.  Their catch up mechanics are a bit p2w and that's going to be a terrible label attached to the game if players feel forced into it just for getting into the game after it is closer to a release quality product. 
    The account level permanent training is a bad idea for the context of how they plan to launch and some of the obstacles they are currently up against.  Just let the EK be the permanence in the game and give people campaign level training that gives people weeks or months or a year of permanence to mess around with characters and then gives them a nice healthy reset to try new builds.
    This would give the game a lot of benefits, build progression through a campaign on an individual and group level could be more like rts early mid and late game.  Resetting after X amount of weeks or months gives you more of the diablo feel where the game stays fresh as people get to try new builds (or repeat old ones) with a fresh twist in each new campaign.

    Good job on the video Zybak, but I disagree.
    This is Pay to Win and you all know it. You can argue that you aren't winning that hard, but that's a dumb argument for defending why your game isn't P2W. This game was advertised as B2P. Now the sub is mandatory if you want to be competitive. Most people want to be competitive and don't like disadvantages.
    What you all fail to see is this only helps nerds. Nobody who is a casual gamer would like this change at all. I will not play BDO because I will never spend enough time or money to be competitive in that game. That alone is reason enough to not touch the game. Many casual gamers will feel the same about a PVP FOCUSED GAME which requires a SUB to be MIN/MAX Competetive.
    Much of this video is just an attack against those who want to buy multiple accounts. Guess what, the most optimal way to play the game is to have multiple accounts and a script that auto trains for you. This again will only be done by nerds and is not an option for casual gamers, unless they want to join a huge guild that supplies this script and info for them.
     
    This is where I am coming from:
    I have played and like the sub model of games like Ultima Online and WoW. I hate P2W games and typically refuse to play them. I like competitive PVP games where time/money doesn't give you a huge advantage. I have no problem paying 15 bucks a month for this game. I do not want an advantage against NON VIP players because I paid money. The biggest takeaway I hope anyone gets from this post is that I have NO problem paying a subscription fee. I do not want to have an advantage for doing so.
    Waking up at 3 AM to train a skill is a huge inconvenience and a tipping point of how soon you will STOP playing the game.
    Stop assuming casual players are okay with a statistical disadvantage. They are not, that is why casual gamers don't play MMORPGs.
     
    Easily fixed with - Non VIP gets 24 hours of skill queueing. VIP gets 1 month of skill queueing. Tell me why this isn't a better idea as it basically removes the Pay to Win. Never force someone to set a timer to interrupt work/sleep.

    I think you are seriously overestimating how many players would log in once, and only once, daily and not play for over 2.39 hours during that session.
    Edit: Especially in early game, when the potential for disparity is highest.

    It's amazing how the definition of P2W has changed for many people. It went from a complete paywall that needed to be crossed to have any chance to be competitive to just about 'any payment is P2W'.  And for record, I'm not watching the video. I'm sure I could have read a text version in less than three minutes.

    You totally missed player type 6, the casual that is interested in this game because it doesn't matter how much time he invests, no one gets better skills by playing more than him. He just got shown the middle finger and got told to buy the "optional" VIP to get this benefit out of passive training.... 
    There are also players that don't have the time and the money to pay for VIP but still want to be competitive.
     
    You just make jokes about being better at cutting trees, but there is also a combat tree. Maybe its not that big of a deal when vessels and armor stats come into play but still its and advantage, hence let it be a 5% advantage in stats just because you didn't have the time to login... that is a noticeable difference and just loosing to someone with the same skill level, gear and took the same skill tree but he is further in it and therefore has this slight advantage just because he bought VIP. This is not good for a PvP game.
     
    Sure it hurts the multi account users (which I am not), but it hurts the casuals more and they are the backbone of a game like this. Sure a constant income is important for ACE, but there are a lot of other things outside the campaigns/PvP that could make VIP interesting. Lower tax, increased build limit, more inventory space.... There will be multi account users, even with this change, but they are minority.

    Equipped disciplines are destroyed when switching archetypes (In the future they will stay in the vessel they are placed in, and the vessel will become an inventory object). Do y'all have an idea as to when we'll get this improved discipline permanence?

    Will discipline benefits stack with class benefits?  I.e. if a knight takes the master of shields weapon discipline, does the block he gains from the discipline add to his existing block in any way?
