  2. Thank you Gormrik. We were around, but it took a while to make that post, and somebody, not going to point any fingers, provoked me last night during a Smite game and I had to finally do it Thank you Nex, glad you like it Welcome to the Crowfall forums my dear Bina! I will ask Col. Xaint to cook a sig for you
  3. KDS Keepers of the DarkSide www.kdsguild.org KDS is a guild founded in 2003 in Star Wars Galaxies on the Chimaera server, where it was the flag holder for the empire up until the release of the CU. We have consistently followed every AAA MMO available over the last 12 years, ensuring that with each and every game we gain knowledge and experience to bring into the next. Our members are from all over the world, however our main core player base is from Europe. Diversity is what makes our community great with about 1000 members strong. Over the years three things have defined us: 1. We are a driving force for our servers community and the games we play: Be it by being hired to kill the Titan in FFXIV, our PvP experience, or for most advanced city on the EU server in DFUW. 2. We LOVE our PVP: We cover small scale assaults, ambush tactics as well as the large scale, especially the latter with great proficiency. 3. We respect and involve everyone through our actions and our Code of Conduct: Over the years KDS has learnt to become a leading community with a large player base and many diverse and amazing members. We encourage people to shine, create events and move up the ranks. If you want an opportunity to prove you can lead PVP, or create a better structure you have that opportunity. The Most Important goal of KDS is: To Have Fun and provide fun for it's members. In any competitive environment, even more so within a PVP Orientated MMO, winning engagements and gaining a strong foothold on your server is a huge boost for moral and enjoyment. In order to ensure we have the ability to offer this to our alliance and community we need disciplined, eager members that strive to become unified in their approach to PvP. DISCIPLINE is a core value of KDS! ____________________________________________ We envision KDS as a Semi RP Military Dictatorship. What does this mean for you? We have a relaxed atmosphere, however we don’t take aggressive or rude nature lightly. When it comes to operations be it PvE or PvP, we shift gear, and the military style kicks in. This ranges from: 1. Quiet "Voice Comms" (TS). 2. Follow orders without question. 3. When relaying important information regarding the immediate battle do it with maximum information content and minimum amount of words. ____________________________________________ Do you expect your members to follow orders blindly and never ask a question? During the actual Operations - Yes – Orders are orders. Have you tried running 4 platoons, 8 squads and listening to 4-5 different teamspeak channels at once? It’s hard work! We try to keep that relaxed environment as much as possible but we do require members to follow the Commander (even if he does lead you off a cliff.. Yes Prom I'm looking at you ) At the end of the Operation - everything is on the table and we discuss what went well but especially what went wrong. We do it in TS or on forums, in public or in private. This is to gain knowledge and experience. We generally put up a format on the forums after each event to gain extensive feedback and proactively work on mistakes and what we can do better. Bottom line: Nobody is perfect, we all make mistakes but most importantly we all learn and train to get better. ____________________________________________ Do we expect you to know all that and be KDS Battle Ready from the get go? Of course not. When you join a new guild it takes time to get to know calls made by the Commander, how to work as a unified squad or platoon and to blend in with your surroundings. We appreciate that MMO players are from all walks of life and therefore incorporate our training methods to ensure we get the best out of everyone. ____________________________________________ Does this mean that KDS is purely a PvP guild? Not by a long shot. We have all kinds of members ranging from families, students, to your workaholics, you name it we have it! However we do understand that real life comes first. In order to preserve our wonderful community we do have a membership required of 18 years of age in KDS. We love our PVP (if you cannot tell by now) and as such would like to state that we are looking for like-minded members, if you detest PVP of any sort then KDS will not be for you. ____________________________________________ Do you offer opportunities to advance? KDS is a meritocracy. If you show initiative and "make things happen" then you can and will quickly climb up the ranks. In KDS we are always on the lookout for people willing to provide content for others. ____________________________________________ How do you play the numbers game? Another core value of KDS is STRUCTURE. We have extensive experience (since 2003) on structuring the KDS Army (PvP player base) and the Civil Corp (Crafters, Traders, Gatherers). We use a Squad System: Squad < Platoon < Company < KDS Army. This squad system is governed by High Command and/or game officers. This is a flexible system that we continuously adjust to fit the needs of the guild as it’s members. __________________________________________ What's with the Dictatorship? Do you ask members to clean the latrines? As a community we listen to every single member and we take pride in doing so. This simply means that the end decision process is done at the officer level. This allows for a fast decision making process through our High Command and officers and allows you to enjoy your game play without the fuss of political debates. KDS Officers are here to serve the members by providing content and solving issue. Enforcing our Code of Conduct is everyone's job, from the newest Private to the General. __________________________________________ TLDR version: - Semi RP Meritocratic Military Dictatorship - Core values: Fun, Discipline, Structure __________________________________________ Crowfall Video Archive __________________________________________ You have more questions? Join us in discord: https://discord.gg/5JVSzj9 __________________________________________ How do I apply! Step 1: Make an application at https://www.kdsguild.ro If you decide to make an application, please put some effort into it. We appreciate it can be boring but we are looking for like minded individuals. Thank you for your consideration! ____________________________________________ The KDS High Command ----------------------------------------------------------------------- P.S. 4. Hey Tofyzer, Nidvardir was one great ally at the time
  5. Lovely. Here you go until you get a better version
  6. Prometeu

I also enjoy this a lot and play it on and off. I like support or mage roles. Add me if you like: PromKeel
  7. Politics for which Ring? And in that Ring for which world? I can see this working, maybe, in specific threads like in GW2 but hardly in it's own forums. Adding in the volatility of the worlds it's going to bear even less influence than GW2 had/has.
  8. Some Daily Quests to have something to do, if you choose to, can be a good thing to keep the ball rolling, people online, and increase player interaction. Daily quests are the best quests, financial wise, since you only implement them once and they are available forever.
  9. +1 for this thread Good laughter before work. Thank you
  10. Way to go sir! I'm glad your vision is taking shape. Keep at it /cheers
  11. Greetings, Is this The Tribunal we've met, as KDS, in AoC (I think)? /salute
  12. The KDS recruitment post is coming up in the next few days - we are not known for our speed . We used to say about us that "KDS is the bear!" - Arrives late but everyone knows when it dose because it slaps hard. Friend or Foe - is secondary. Honor is always first! /salute
  13. Thank you all for the feedback. @naysayers - In my experience, and I have played almost all mmos with PvP in the last 12 years, this has always happened. While, thinking in decency terms I agree with you, reality shows that Machiavelli is far from being alone - and in the end people are here to have fun and we are prone to take the path of least resistance to achieve it. @valor - To my understanding loser gets a % as well just far smaller. You said loser gets nothing. That would really be bad imo. Spending 1 month into a campaign and getting nothing for your EK could be detrimental to the game overall. It's enough you lost and you get less imo. On the other hand that is one simple variable of a campaign and can be tested both in alpha/beta and live without much trouble. If is a success people will join the next one. If it's a failure people will simply avoid that rule-set. @Jihan - betrayal - If you are raiding the winning boat, I hardly see any reason for a large group to betray. It would be like shooting your own foot regardless of how much you love or hate your allies. You suck it up to finish the campaign to get your loots into EK and in the next one choose the allies or the campaign better! @Keeping the Winner unknown is going to be extremely hard to code. First of all - largest group will be the first attraction point - they can PvP & gather & craft &build with far greater proficiency than small Groups no matter how much better at pvp the latter are. So the Gathering and Building (spring and summer) phase will most likely be owned by the numbers. By the end of Summer and Autumn (the siege period) the best equipped settlements belong to the ones that were faster and they might change hands if the politics are not handled correctly. IMO winner will be quite clear by end of summer in a 3 months campaign. In a 4 weeks campaign the situation will be more volatile due to sheer speed at which things will progress. Let's hope AC finds a decent solution to this. @ColdSlither - that can be an option imo, though I doubt AC had something similar in mind. @Devs - can we have some sort of "What is current thinking on this?" please? /salute
  14. hmm I'm thinking in terms of what we have had as events so far: 1. Starting a Caravan - creates an event. Delivering the caravan to the destination will give an amount of points to whomever delivers it. Amount of points: - depends on the overall value of the items carried - reduced by the amount of participants - unknown until the events is over so that higher value targets don't attract more attention - alliance turning in will get the points for all the players, from the same alliance, in the vicinity - amount is small to the point where is not worth doing it for the sake of farming points - like 5 2. City Siege - Winning alliance member get points - either offensive or defensive - In order to lay a siege an alliance has to have a minimum amount of members so that dummy allainces ar not usable. Minimum amount should be a % of the campaign population. and the % increases with every season. So in winter only a big player can lay siege. - all characters are bound to same account and you participate with the account to only one alliance per campaign. - points for city siege 1000. There is a treshold (100k for exp - this allows for 100 vs 100 in maximum points) that once passed the points start to drop so the more attackers or defenders there are the less points they get. How about it?
  15. I like the approach. I usually role healer/support so is probably not something I will play though.
  16. If you have an Uberdog than everyone else is the underdog. Problem is with people leaving the uberdog just before the end of the campaign. This could be solved with a points based system. 1. Players are part of guilds 2. Guilds are part of alliances 3.Participating in different activities gives a certain amount of points for you in that specific alliance. (50 for caravan escort; 1000 points for winning a siege; etc) 4. When you switch alliance you start from zero in the new alliance but your previous achivements are stored (if you get back to same alliance you keep adding to your previous contribution) 5. At the end of the campaign, depending on the postion of each alliance (winner/looser/kneel) the points are tallied for each player and thust is decided the % for his export ratio.
  17. Nice to meet you Paterno and greetings from KDS! I really like your mindset and I'm happy to see more guilds with rulesets that make me smile with joy :thumb up: I'm pretty sure we will get to know eachother better during the Crowfall adventure! /salute
  18. The following question/suggestion is mainly related to Dregs and The Shadow. As previous experience has shown, in PvP games where you can switch sides, players are inclined to join the winning side, even more so when they get personal gains out of it. The problem I see is that guilds in The Shadow and players in Dregs will just pile up around the Winner simply because they want to: 1. Win - "dont we all" 2. Get more loot into EK This can very well happen in the other campaign types as well is just not as easy. What is your current thinking on this? Possible solutions: 1. Over a certain % of campaign players treshold apply Uberdog Debuffs: Less power; less loot; - Put an overall Export Cap so that the more players are on the winning side the less loot they can export to EK. 2. Under a certain % of campaign players Underdog buffs: More power; more loot; more loot being taken out the less players are on the loosing side. _________________________________________ If you have an Uberdog than everyone else is the underdog. Problem is with people leaving the uberdog just before the end of the campaign. This could be solved with a points based system. 1. Players are part of guilds 2. When you switch alliance you start from zero in the new alliance but your previous achivements are stored (if you get back to same alliance you keep adding to your previous contribution) 5. At the end of the campaign, depending on the position of each alliance (win/loose/kneel) the points are tallied for each player and thus is decided the % for his export ratio. _________________________________________ If anyone has other ideas on how to balance this please put them down and I can keep a compiled list here! /salute
  19. I loved every line of this thread. Simply awesome
  20. It makes me wonder where did the cap go wrong .....
  21. You have a point there but at the same time the campaigns are consecutive but they are also concurrent, so unless you carefully plan with allies and enemies to go on same campaign there are valves to release the pressure. Players/guilds are not forced to stick to a campaign they don't like, so instead of choosing a side, or quitting the game, they can just switch to another campaign.
  22. You are talking here in DF game mechanics. In a campaign lasting a month or three, and 3-5-20 more campaigns running at the same time - the political Meta for the masses will play an way smaller factor than it did in DF. On top of that there will , more likely, be close no masses to sway since the small players will avoid the big players campaigns or they will be tightly allied with the side they will think it will win. And if you think betrayal - DF style, that is also less likely to happen since the world comes to an end and when a new map starts the choices of allies for betraying guilds will be smaller and smaller. One more factor that makes it so much different than DF is the fact that the advantage obtained through exploits will have limited impact and restarting from scratch and on equal footing is something exploiters have little love for. So you sir should check the "clueless" section of the forums and check out the member list /salute
