  1. First off your attempt at an insult isn't even accurate. I am either part of Generation Jones or Generation X, (1968) so try again! Secondly This is Pre Alpha mate, there is nothing written in stone. Both Star Citizen and DayZ went back and completely changed there Engine, which is a tad of a bigger change the altering the skill system. And again I never said remove it, I believe there is room to enhance it meld the time system you love with a your actually doing the thing buff.... So you can keep your I don't even have to play skill system and others can play hard and try hard to get actually get ahead.....OR Catch up!!!!
  2. Combat argument's usually boil down too age and gaming experience. While most of what I am about to say may seem to be stereo-typing I believe it has credible foundation Or I wouldn't waist time typing it.... Younger gamer's put more value on combat mechanics. And what they see as good combat generally has a lot of Particle Effects and button smashing possibly in particular order's to create combo's or other such combat mechanic's..... As an Older gamer I strongly dislike ^^^^ Button smashing, Particle Effect combat filled with pointless animations to make the combat actions look really cool. As I fundamentally disagree with the concept that Combat is the most important aspect of an MMORPG. One of the best combat systems I have ever experienced in a game was Magery in Ultima Online before T2a. This was OMG Tab targeting..... But what it really was, was a system so simple but yet so elegant, Fast casting to disrupt spells, casting certain spells to deplete a specif reagent of your enemy, there were many tactic's in mage duels. And skill at the keyboard shined thru in the outcome. Sure back then seeing a flame-strike was pretty cool but lets be honest that animation meant little compared to your enemy's red bar shrinking! Ultimately combat is simply a system that allows the rest of the game to succeed. I would rather see Development time being put into Content to make the game fun that trying to make the greatest combat system ever as, I don't find combat to really be that important.... Things that interact with combat, like stealth in Shadowbane, the ability to steal from people that are fighting etc those are the things that make a game great. The combat is just a system that has to be. The only thing about combat I would say is key is the ability for a fight to prolong... Combat should never be over instantly unless of course you were just hit bye 15 Centaurs who randomly ran onto your screen all casting a devastating spell at the same time screaming "Carebear Stare!" In which case you got zerged bye 15 players of course the only recourse you have is to die....
  3. I agree the customization is linear.... I choose to be a Elkin in my first vessel because its cool to look at it represents me and who I want to be in the game... BUT thats not true!!! If I wanted to be the greatest Leatherworker ever maybe! But I don't want to leatherwork I want to Smith and Make Plate armor.... Seems I am suppose to be human for that.... IE.... The skill training is very linear.... Its not diverse it doesn't allow for strange combinations when the skill tree create's mandatory meta to be the best at different things! The game I would want would say something along the lines of Elkin are not traditionally Metal workers they don't commonly work with Plate armor so your going to have a harder start.... But if I over came this start and made the most Plate armor chests I would eventually be the best of the best.... and when I mean best I don't mean the group of 400 guys who have all maxed out there skill in that area! <----- There should only be 1 best and that should be the guy who IS the best because he HAS actually done it the most.... Of course your all going to argue that we are spirit crows not elkin... And its our crows that have the knowledge etc etc.... Well if I plan to only ever be an elkin my crow should be far better at being an elkin then those that jump in and out of all the rest.... And also if its the crow that has the knowledge why is it that knowledge only works when I am in a human body for instance?!? That doesnt exactly make much sense either....
  4. vendors should be in the beach head not EK's the is the simplest most important fix the economy needs...Also none of this only the biggest guild can place a vendor either.... There is more then enough room in the beachheads for everyone who wants to place a vendor...... Limiting it to the biggest guild or some albion inspired bidding system doesn't help the economy the economy needs competition everyone needs equal footing... From the largest guild to the smallest solo crafter...
  5. Not sure how your insinuating that I didn't pick these things up?!? I am a player who has always preferred crafting inside of a PvP environment, it makes business much better! When did I say PvP was the only Facet, your the person that said that!!! Regardless, this is my new player experience not yours, I have as much right to express my viewpoints and how my first few hours went in the game as you do. Infact there is no need for most of the follow on discussion that has taken place. Glad you like the game glad you feel the need to defend it, but I AM NOT ATTACKING IT.... I am doing my job as a tester and sharing my thoughts with the development team...
  6. I have watched literally 40-80 hours of Blair Hallash and Todd doing various Youtube video's and the skill system seems to have not ever been a topic of those videos.... Its because of the video's that I have watched that I decided to spend the money. But this is irrelevant anyway, no matter how much research the consumer does it doesn't change the fact the skill system is not good. I bought Eve knowing that skill system existed so I am sure I would have got this game, regardless..... However that doesn't change the fact that the skill system is no good in my opinion! At least I will be one of the benefactors of its poor design when the game is released because I will be there before everyone else that joins the game, because I will have been there from day 1.....
  7. Sorry if this sounds negative! But I will be sharing my thoughts about the game and the main things I will likely remember are things that I didn't like, about the game! The first thing I discovered that really has me very disappointed is that this is an Eve Like Skill system!!! > I dislike this time based skill system for so many reasons!!! A) It allows Casual Players to be able to keep up with players that put serious hours into the game! Some people think this is good, I disagree, wholeheartedly! B)The guy who cuts down the most tree's should be the best Logger, the guy who makes the most swords should be the best swordsmith, etc. In this system there is no real reward for actually doing your profession. A guy who rarely crafts anything can technically be just as good a crafter as the guy who only crafts! Why because he unlocked those skills. While I doubt you all will scrape this horrible skill system you should really look at a way to actually reward or increase skill ticks for people who actually do the stuff there researching....IE if your researching the Exploration line then every time you cut a tree give another 1 extra point towards that skill line, etc... IE make it a Hybrid combine the skill over time with skill rewards for actually doing the job!!! Okay next topic - Lack of Player Vendors inside of the campaign, this could likely be, because your just not at that stage of development yet but I find this Vendors inside of the EK's to be backwards!!! Player Vendors should be inside the Campaign itself..... Death - I discovered today that you don't drop your equipment on death?!? Sure this may make it easier for carebear's to go forth and pvp but isn't this a pvp focused game?!? I am not sure why you would protect peoples gear as that would only prolong campaigns as part of war is to take away the enemy's ability to fight..... These are the first things I have noticed that had me either really spun up (Skill System) or mildly annoyed, the rest.... I am sharing my experience as maybe others have similar thoughts and the more voices to the chorus, etc etc... without feedback you can't tweek things....
