Does it matter when all of the OP's complaints still hold true with the latest patch with the possible exception of the UI (which isnt at all customizable)

TheMap reacted to jtoddcoleman in Update on getting 5.110 to Test Server
Yeah, I know.  It's frustrating.  It's frustrating for us, too.
Here's the deal: we have a build, and it hung at the 99.99% bar.  There is one issue that has proven to be incredibly elusive, and it's causing a massive lag on the server.  Overall, the game feels pretty good.  We're still working through power-related bugs -- all the underlying system changes we made this milestone have caused a crop of them, but frankly that's expected and we're working them through at a good clip -- but I'd be OK with putting those in front of you.  Overall, I think combat is in a much better shape than 5.100, even with these new issues.
But the server performance issue is a killer.  Any kind of reasonable player load (and I have reason to suspect we'll hit that) causes this problem to emerge, and it makes the game unplayable.  Which would be even more frustrating.
As to "when", the truth is, we don't know.  We have top men working on it.  ("Top. Men.")  We continue to be in a day-for-day hold pattern until we get this issue resolved.
Thanks for your patience.  Hopefully it'll be soon.

TheMap reacted to Prometeu in Paladin (healing) Templar
Paladins are the a class that can deal twice as much Points/Minute - HPS+DPS then any other AoE contender that are limited to mostly DPS or mostly healing.
In the combat log parser a paladin can deal 160.000-180.000 Total Damage+Total Healing in a fight while the next is probably a Cleric, Confessor and Myrmidon but they stop at about 80.000-100.000 Total Damage+Total Healing.
It's not a solo play class - that's for sure - but in a proper group is the foundation.

Feel free to explore and build it but don't complain about it

Paladin can attack , use censure and the aoe combo (forget the name) to generate pips. I think its spot on the way its sitting right now, the DPS that can be put out is far better than any healer out there. Paladin isn't supposed to be a main healer, more of a hybrid CC/DPS Healer. I believe Templar is one of the classes that is balanced just right for its role.

Fist of the Empire [FoE] is looking for new souls to add to our growing army.
Our Player Base includes (but is not limited to):
Irritating, nerve-grating RL military types Cool loner/rake/libertine who won't conform to society's standards and will mock those who try types Will do anything for views, Twitch streaming types Condescending, self-righteous officer types Masochistic, PvP-addicted, takes gaming way too seriously types Self-loathing, questionable hygiene, PvE types Anti-social, spreadsheet humping, theory-crafting types Man-hating, militant feminist, scorched earth types Fringe dwelling, socially inept, crazy types Conceited, protein-slamming, marathon running, Bro types Lonely, broke, dorm-dwelling college types Needy, flirtatious, attention seeking types Old-school-is-still-cool Metamucil taking denture wearing types
Even with all of those drawbacks, Fist of the Empire [FoE] has managed to take their highly entertaining drama into numerous games over the past 15+ years. We're raising our banner in Crowfall and look forward to annoying our enemies (and most of our allies). We have an intricate organizational structure which gives us a false sense of control in a gaming world gone mad. We acknowledge the efforts of our members, reward, and promote them based on their demonstrated commitment to their fellow guildies; however, should they fail in game (or at life) we are swift with harsh judgments, reprisals, and ridicule.

If you've made it this far into this post you clearly want to march in our parade of degenerates. You must be over 18 years of age, have Discord with a working microphone, and understand the finer points of push-to-talk.
We’re currently looking to add more crazies to our ranks, and YOU (and the voices in your head) would fit in nicely, especially if you can have as much of a sense of humor about yourself as we do about ourselves. Everyone is welcome to apply; however, we’re mainly seeking players that are guild-first types who approach their limited gaming time in a professional manner and who would enjoy slaughtering anyone not wearing FoE’s tag. Oh, and did I mention that most of our ranks consist of members who have worn the FoE tag for 5+ years or more? This will be the last guild you ever have to join (join us…join us...join us).

    These are the facts:
We like to drink and kill people for their stuff (typically on weekends) Guild Founded: 2003 (we've been around for over 15 years) Players: 100+ active in multiple games We’re NA players, but also have an active EU guild with leadership Faction: Chaos, because we can't hide our dark roots no matter how much we dye our hair blond! Website: https://www.fistoftheempire.com VoIP: Discord (required) Founded on military principles and led by former RL Active Duty Officers A highly organized group of "Good Dudes and Dudettes" We support and run BookofYaga.com, providing information back to the community. Fame: FoE has been featured in numerous industry publications and sites - Star Wars Fanfest '04 1st place, Star Wars Insider, PC Gamer, Stratics WoW, Beckett MMO Mag, Trion, etc... to name a few. PvP Prowess: FoE has been one of the top PvP guilds (at least we think so) in just about every MMO since SWG; so much so, that developers come to FoE to alpha test the PvP mechanics in their games (WAR, APB, STO, D&L, DF, GW1&2, TB, Rift, Wildstar, TESO, Fox Hole, etc...) Tactics: We usually shy away from the zerg mentality, applying organized group military tactics and strategy to dominate the zergy masses which abound throughout the MMO PvP battlefield. PvP: Yes, please! We’re a PvP-based guild! Crafting: We grew-up in SWG crafting and understand the importance of supporting guild crafters and running a mercantile empire. Daily PvP, Weekly FoE Community events, RL rewards for loyal guildies, (FoE Swag, free games, game cards/time, etc...) and our annual get drunk-get together in RL FoE Fest! Did I mention that we like to drink...
    How to Apply:
Simply go to https://www.fistoftheempire.com, Click “Join Today” on the main page, and follow the directions. Do it correctly, and you'll be drinking the "FoE Kool-aid" and shaving your head with us in no time! Should you have questions, comments, essays, warrants, or DNA samples to submit to us, please feel free to contact us at praelian@fistoftheempire.com or whisper Praelian in game.

**Disclaimer: If you happen to be in FoE and you're reading this post thinking, “They can't possibly be talking about me…” Yes, we are talking about YOU!!!**

TheMap reacted to Ble in Map Idea to Promote PvP
Not a fan of high level GR.  I think that mobs could give the same-ish XP no mater what level the mob or vessel quality is, and higher rank mobs could just drop more/better stuff and that would be the PvE progression.  That way you can make GR low level, but still be a place to get decent xp to meet CW level requirements.

Secondly, @monchiezz had a great idea that I thought merits posting.  We need a map that promotes PvP.  Is it possible for you to generate a slightly larger adventure zone and flood it with resources?   A map like this would force everyone to fight during non siege hours in a single zone, would be fantastic.

I don't remember what this thread is about, so this likely isn't relevant info, but here is why I don't play.

Winning is more fun than losing.
Sometimes losing can also be fun.
Crowfall needs this to be true.
Right now in Crowfall, winning is too often not fun, losing is rarely fun. And my biggest issue, it's often to much work to even get to a point where you are in a situation to win or lose.
The large majority of PvP I've experienced in CF are sieges, and they are just not fun. I think it was hit dead on earlier that it's only fun for the Battle commander's and shot callers. Once multiple groups get involved on both sides all the classes meld together and any sort of individual interaction or play is lost.
The classes are all to similar. Disciplines do not fix this in their current state because they all do roughly the same things. There are effectively only 3 classes.
You can choose to swing a sword, shoot a fireball or heal.
Race, class,  promotion class, and discipline choice only change the cosmetics and effectiveness of these 3 roles.
The thousands of possibilities of character building don't matter in anything more than 10v10.

How are we supposed to have a healthy community?
I got pretty good guild members that have played with me since we opened our guild on the start of the trials of illara, with dayli uptimes of everyone and everyone was very enthusiastic.
The month started out with news from the devs about 5.9 being tested on testservers and we followed, gave the feedback that it's riddled with bugs and nobody ever thought this mess would be released to live servers. We were promised a mug for using the testservers and helping in ironing out the rough corners of the build and everyone thought "I can live with 5.8.6 until 5.9 is really ready and give my constructive feedback from the testservers". We were all ready to run on live and test on the testservers at the same time.

Now we feel let down, we feel disappointed and now i will as the last online member in my guild shut down the lights because only the "inner test circle" gets news and we peasents have to endure a month of silence. Some sparse info about the embargo system does not change how left alone we feel.

I am seeing games in alpha like fractured, seeing their detailed news on every patch, active community managers and i am thinking:
"ACE you can do that to, your team is way bigger then 8 men?"

This is not a rent anymore, this is just a sad story about players left in the dark cold night without any real direction or info on how things are going. As every last member of my guild said before they slowly one after another went into the Crowfall Break: "There is 0 fun left!"

Gathering for the little amount of pvp currently available has burnt out a lot of players. Give us something to do that satisfies our pvp needs.
Temporary hunger dome until this loop is sorted out.
Leave the campaign up for those who want to continue in it

When I came to CF I wasn't expecting a crafting/gathering simulator. I have spent the last few months gathering 80% of the time crafting 10% of that time, and im being generous at 10% pvpin. We are playing a crafting simulator at this point. Taking keeps has no purpose, I can still farm around them, the buffs don't make them worth holding. Small group pvp has no purpose, nothing to gain, anyone can bank at anytime. Even with the embargo/bank changes coming it only con volutes the current pvp mechanics. Why remove local banks? That made having a fort/keep actually a perk.
Darkfall had full loot, you had risk vs. reward. Owning a territory meant you had a local bank/respawn and access to some high quality spawns. Each unique to the biomes.
Mortal Online had full loot as well. Owning territory in Mortal Online, access to blast furnace to make the best metals in the game. Rare spawns or important reagents used all across the world.
Shadowbane owning keeps, mines = resources worth fighting over. Keep was a sanctuary of protection that you could come home to , build upon, equip with guards , shops that could be upgraded.

All territories are random and serve no purpose in CF.  We have no special resource in a specific region or keep/fort that has high value. CF is a glorified crafting simulator. It isn't hardcore due to its pvp, its hardcore crafting/grinding. Everything in crowfall can be accomplished without having to pvp at all.
