  1. I just want to make sure I understand: we're quietly pretending the obvious and fatal link between the utter disaster that was SWTOR and the total wildcard that is Crowfall doesn't exist, right?
  2. You expound endlessly on other matters, presenting yourself as some expert in the ways of game design and development. Maybe you could take your own advice; develop any non-zero amount of humility whatsoever; recognize the limitations of your knowledge and understanding; and have fewer, less-extreme opinions about game design. You know as little about it as you do about game financing.
  3. While everything is subject to change entirely, what they've released is a real and clear indication of the thinking of the designers, not merely in terms of kind but of degree. In that light, one might entirely reasonably be concerned, and even disappointed, with what they're seeing, without assuming that it's release-ready. You are being condescending, but in reality it's you who demonstrates naiveté. Do you honestly not realize that the current ranger set is a first approximation of what they currently intend the ranger to be?
  4. All the more reason it is vital that there be no Friendly Immunity in this game. Sadly, with the "this game has to accommodate all 'styles' of 'PvP*'!!1" crowd gaining dominant influence, I expect there will be damn few situations without Friendly Immunity. * Translation: "honorable" duels, matched-team instances, and PvE
  5. I keep hoping for any information at all that is specifically about the Campaign Worlds and PvP, but the waiting is a whip.
  6. They one time used the term "MMORPG", and then immediately qualified it out of existence. And they aren't saying Crowfall is a hybrid, they're saying... well here: Corvin used the MMORPG monicker to justify his assertions that this game must include various aspects that are typically found in existing RPGs. But this game isn't at all an RPG by the standards Corvin is applying. ACE said as much in that quote. Yes, they one time used the "RPG" term, but immediately made it clear that this game is as much an RPG as the other games I listed (which few people would ever describe as RPGs). Moreover, just because the game is going to have "elements in common with strategy games" doesn't make it an anything/RTS hybrid. It's its own game style, which they are calling "Throne War Simulator". The clear and obvious point, here, is that any assertion that this game will or must contain any given aspect of any other game, due to it being lumped into some ambiguous and arbitrary category that ACE doesn't even subscribe to, is entirely baseless.
  7. If all you're going to do is insist that what you think is "fact", without any evidence or reasoning to support it, then you have nothing useful to say.
  8. Do we consider Eve Online, Rust, Ark, or Reign of Kings to be RPGs? If so, then Crowfall is an RPG, to that extent. However, if we allow "RPG" to include those games, then everything Corvin predicated his post on goes right out the window. It's not like there's a formal definition of RPG, so if you want to include Eve Online, Rust, Ark, and Reign of Kings, then Corvin's claims have no basis. If you exclude Eve Online, Rust, Ark, and Reign of Kings then you must exclude Crowfall.
  9. When has ACE ever claimed that this is an RPG in any way, much less an RPG/RTS hybrid?
  10. There are numerous examples of how to leverage the Google API to load calendar data into a calendar widget. You could probably find a usable Angular controller and directive for this, so you don't have to write the code yourself. See this thread for another example of why you should just write the minimal code instead of blaming Google: Playtest Schedule Calendar Widget Doesn't Load in Firefox
  11. The playtest schedule doesn't load the calendar widget in Firefox. The error in the console is: Load denied by X-Frame-Options: https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=cl&passive=1209600&osid=1&continue=https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?title%3DCrowfall%2BPlaytest%26showPrint%3D0%26showTabs%3D0%26showCalendars%3D0%26height%3D600%26wkst%3D1%26bgcolor%3D%2523FFFFFF%26src%3Dl3rc1f28d4ohrl6otdl6dcs1vo@group.calendar.google.com%26color%3D%2523540000%26hl%3Den%26ctz%3DAmerica/Los_Angeles&followup=https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?title%3DCrowfall%2BPlaytest%26showPrint%3D0%26showTabs%3D0%26showCalendars%3D0%26height%3D600%26wkst%3D1%26bgcolor%3D%2523FFFFFF%26src%3Dl3rc1f28d4ohrl6otdl6dcs1vo@group.calendar.google.com%26color%3D%2523540000%26hl%3Den%26ctz%3DAmerica/Los_Angeles&hl=en&scc=1&authuser=0 does not permit framing. 12. Don't count on it. Until concrete details are given, it is, of course, possible. But we have no reason to expect what you're expecting. http://community.crowfall.com/index.php?/topic/10608-the-fun-yet-gruesome-facts-about-vessels-official-discussion-thread/page-10#entry253292
  13. Canth is misunderstanding what a factory is in Crowfall. Factories, are POIs that produce materials. Materials are bulk quantities of resources. http://crowfall.com/en/faq/economy/
  14. If our expectations are to be evidence-based, we must recognize that the most specific example of import rules we've yet been given through official channels is the original example of the import rules for God's Reach: While the vessels system decision likely affects the plans for import rules, there's no reason to suspect that it will change the scale of import. In the only specific example we have, the largest scale import allowance is smaller than what you are calling "small import". Expecting to be able to import large quantities of building materials does not seem to be reasonable until we are given clear indication of the possibility.
  15. A false prophecy has arisen whereby each Campaign World's rules are expected to be infinitely variable across the entire spectrum of each variable. This is nonsense. While no world band is fixed to specific import and export rates, ACE did, in fact, give specific examples for good reason: the world bands will drive differences of kind, not merely differences of degree. That is, The Dregs will be in the category of essentially no import, even if a particular Campaign World in The Dregs might (but only might) have a very small import allowance. Expecting there to be a Campaign World in The Dregs with a large import allowance is wholly irrational. Let's keep in mind, in the original example rule sets for the world bands, it wasn't The Dregs that was indicated as having no import, it was The Shadow, one world band out from The Dregs. What do you think that implies about The Dregs? Likewise, God's Reach will be in the category of allowing all equipped items to be imported, even if a particular Campaign World in God's Reach might (but only might) have a very small import restriction. Expecting there to be a Campaign World in God's Reach with no import allowance is wholly irrational. Let's review what even the latest FAQ (not to mention all information given prior) says about how rule sets will be determined for a given Campaign World in a given world band: Campaign Modules, Question 2 For further evidence of the point, let's review the preceding question: Campaign Modules, Question 1 It is plain to see that ACE specifically intends to create a categorical game experience for each world band. The differences among the world bands do not merely drive the victory conditions, or the team type, or any other one or two aspects. Each world band represents a specific set of presets of attributes, modules, team selection/assignment, etc. Campaign Worlds within a given world band will vary, but only relatively narrowly. So when we talk about the kinds of Campaign World that players and guilds of varying accumulated power will be incentivized to play in, it is vastly more meaningful to talk about the world band they will be driven toward than the specific rule set they will be driven toward.
  16. Turns out, reading for comprehension actually matters. I can see how repeatedly misreading would get confusing and cause you to lose track of the conversation. Here's a quick review of recent, relevant parts: I'm done with this conversation. If you don't understand now, you're never going to, and I'm tired of having to wait for you to realize you've completely misread yet another simple statement and then remind you of what's being discussed.
  17. Yikes. Somehow, I gave you too much credit. Yes, of course you can join with your guild. Every single other person has already understood that to be the assumed context of the discussion, and therefore concluded that the only possible interpretation of what I said was that you can't control who the other people in the Campaign World are. Well let's review what you said: As should be abundantly obvious, my point is that you have no reason whatsoever to suppose that you "can choose to join the campaign that is more fitting to [your] guild, experience, and gear and therefore compete against those very similar to [you] and [your] team." Absolutely nothing ACE has said can rationally be interpreted to suggest that you will be able to avoid entering a non-The Dregs Campaign World wherein every opponent is bringing in more powerful assets than you.
  18. Yes, you can try a different Campaign... ... after the one you're currently locked into has ended. Except now it's after the one your vessel is currently locked into has ended, so you could all take different, non-subscribed vessels into a different Campaign with the same lack of influence over who your enemies will be. In any case, we have no information that even begins to suggest that we'll be able to join a Campaign World against similar foes. In fact, what evidence we have suggests quite the opposite.
  19. You're clearly under the baseless misapprehension that this means one guild vs one guild. Even if it did (and boy howdy does it not), why do you suppose you'd have any influence over which other guild you were opposing?
