DoomYa got a reaction from APE in MMO World / Haters
Those who post dramatic "I´m done!" are not even 1 percent of those ACE couldn´t reach and hold. And probably this 1 percent would have stayed if the NPE wasn´t that bad off topic.
The NPE is like "come, I take you by the hand and guide you in 45 minutes footstep by footstep half way through a lvl 30 PvE world where other players aren´t important at all". Nothing of the NPE represents the endgame (which is everything but the first two hours or less if you sacrifice) of Crowfall. In fact it´s more so the opposite of Crowfall.
There is no hand holding at all after lvl 30, so the NPE should be a bit more demanding. And it should be centered around how to group up for certain objectives like defending or attacking a keep, caravan or harvester.

I don´t care what they fix first as long as they fix all of it. A roadmap would be nice. Wait - they could fix stability first. Game runs like **** since the last two patches.

I see a lot of people talking about Crowfall, bored already..etc. However, Crowfall is the only game consistently making changes, patches, and progressing the development of the game while giving you something to play as you wait. Shut up and be thankful they cared enough to let you play during development rather than do what Camelot Unchained, New World (other than the one week preview) and every other does is make you wait for years with nothing substantial to play. The MMO world is sooo dead right now and badly needs a game to come out to revitalize and very much dead genre.

The good thing about PvP is that it never gets stale, because every situation is different and every opponent behaves differently. All it needs is an environment that lets you decide how to use it to your advantage.

even with this patch... they have more to fix in the game.

I hate the way crafting has this game shifted into role play rather than focus on pvp.

Any amateur dev can design a focus pvp vs pve. Look at GW2 pvp vs their pve content. Their crafting isn't even a fraction vs to Crowfall.

Anyways I can play this game however you design it its just not optimal for pvp/sieging coz everyone do not have balance gear. If you want this game to succeed you'll need a lot of fixing.

    Hello Crows,
We want to confirm that tonight we are putting up a new version of the 6.100 update in preparation for release to LIVE. The data from the LIVE service has been copied to TEST to facilitate the testing of the update, including a limited wipe. This will only impact resources, building materials, and mounts. Skills, vessels, and other items will not be affected. Please understand we try to avoid wiping whenever possible; however it was necessary to support the features in Update 6.100. We appreciate your support in helping us to test the update. Many thanks in advance to those who can jump in and help us test this new build tonight.

Yes, it´s far from perfect and calling it a Beta didn´t help either. For most customers "Beta" means "release soon", but this won´t happen in this state. In most companies "Beta" means crunch times until release and I wouldn´t want to work for ACE for the next year.
But still, I didn´t have that much community work since vanilla WoW when our whole guild built the Thunderfury swords for our tanks and the whole server opened the gates to ahn'qiraj. I enjoy this "everyone for all, all for one" musketeer attitude in our guild a lot. It´s great to see a game going this route in a time where all other games appease individualists. Especially in a time of individualism.

Probably some combination of ego and stubbornness.
I've never worked on a game professionally, but I do have a lot of web UI/UX experience and I can tell you folks make things a lot more complicated than they need to be. Too much science, not enough art and common sense.
Especially when you're hiring contractors who are paid by the hour.
I have also always wondered how many devs passionately play the games they work on. The folks working on add-ons tend to be passionate fans of the game who are looking to create what they think will help them play more effectively. Not sure you can always say that about professional game devs.

DoomYa got a reaction from Dragotek in Casts in Crowfall (GCD)
Usually a melee attack comes first and the global cooldown (GCD) prevents the next attack to follow immediately.
Casts get executed after they charged up, so they don´t need a GCD.
This fits the scheme. Melee: Hit and think what you did. Caster: Plan your attack and execute it.

In Crowfall it feels as if there was a GCD after casts and what´s even weirder: GCD restarts if you try to cast during GCD.
In WoW we had a serious castbar (Quartz addon) that showed your ping and macros like "/stopcasting; /cast EvilSpell;" for spells to prevent this. Hit the key and it executes, no matter what happened before. Hit it too early and you stop execution of your last cast (bad), hit it in the red (ping) part of your castbar and you started your spell before your client received feedback about the last cast from the server (good).
But perhaps it´s just what it feels to play on NA-East from EU, Germany.

DoomYa got a reaction from Aedius in Druid impressions after having tried game again after hiatus
@Duke_Suraknar That´s the same with almost every class. The leveling experience is horrible. Druid is viable for leveling from lvl 27 as stormcaller, about the same as Archdruid if you get a staff and never as an Earthkeeper. Whoever invented a resource system without a resource filler should win a price. The price for "something absolutely unique noone else could ever have invented".
Major discs need to be redone, too. Obviously they were tied to classes before. Now we can use almost all of them, but not really, because just two or three outside our class discs don´t require special stats we don´t have on our gear. And even our class discs have near duplicates of skills we get from talents. Then the discs that depend on another. It´s plain bad when the game tells you a disc with just one desireable skill is a valid option.

DoomYa got a reaction from APE in Zerging in PvP MMOs - Is it fixable? Should it be fixed?
When I saw this as the opener to the guild bank, I thought they better get a larger community. I won´t to be one of the few niche players who keep this game alive.

Get a subscription based model or something based on cosmetics, but there is nothing a guild bank would buy for cash that is not pay to win. I guess it will come even better: VIP subscription per player & buying campaign progress via guild bank.

DoomYa reacted to Talidus in 6.100 TEST Feedback for 8/28/20
I know you are probably getting a lot of feedback from long time players but, as a new player coming into the game its pretty overwhelming. Let me unpack that a little.
The game is pretty strait forward from 1-19 with the quests but, once you start to get past this point and you start looking at the core aspects of the game, its a cliff. There is no on-ramp to how PVP works. Its super technical with timers and events, crafting is not intuitive. The passive growth of crafting skills doesn't make sense. Why does my primary and secondary track - which drives the core aspects of the game - only advance through a passive timer (skill point gain per 10/s)? Its like EVE Online in that aspect, which makes no sense. I hated that about EVE which is why I stopped playing it. Its like, ok the game will play itself and I get to pick it back up 12 months from now. But, by the time that happens, more stuff is added to the game and its even more complex than it was 12 months ago in an already convoluted game. Its a design death spiral that prohibits new players from getting into the game and eventually chokes out the user base which is catastrophic for a MMO. Games like this need LOTs of players so world PVP is vibrant. The game needs to be much easier to get into. I guarantee you, that will kill the game if its not easy to get into PVP and break some heads. If new players are going against players teams with epic/legendary vessels with 12 months of skill trees, they won't stick around.
I just feel like the game development is too complicated for people to want to invest in. Its as if you took aspects of games you like, and slapped it all together into a single game that lacks a kind of cohesiveness or direction. Feel like there's a lot of design scope creep. I do not think crafting should even be implemented yet as PVP hasn't been flushed out yet. Let me first talk about crafting.
The crafting feels like Albion, where it feels like guild growth through crafting is a job. Where you are doing this rudimentary grind for some advancement of a collective welfare. It seems to be designed around this socialist utopia concept we are trying to build a welfare state for all in the guild. Its all hunkey-dorie in the beginning where its all hugs and buddies grinding together and everyone is willing to push resources to a few player toons to max them out with the hope its beneficial for them in the end. In reality, there ends up being a couple players with maxed out crafting toons everyone else helped to build but, instead of them helping everyone else, they help their friends and build a leadership coalition and then you have these 5-10 players who have all the autonomy, power and resources to control the rest of the guild and then begin to determine who gets what after they are maxed out and they don't need the support of the guild now. Then all these hurdles start to get put in place and demands. The once happy tree hugging guild becomes this - militant contribute or be removed - mentality. I've seen that happen in every game that has implemented a collectivist socialist design.
As far as PVP is concerned it's a lot like ESO and less like DAOC. ESO is slightly more worse off in the fact that the maps spread out too making PVP a needle in a haystack feel. DAOC pushed people through gates and choke points which made finding big battles or small squad fights easy. ESO does do this a little bit but, again, maps are too big and traveling takes away from the open world PVP. You don't know if you will get mobbed by 100 people or by 5. Too much of a guessing game and too much damn walking! No one wants to walk around looking for Mayonnaise in a grocery story. Thats what it feels like. Looking for some item I want but, blindly roaming and usually being disappointing. Either getting into too big of a fight and getting rolled, finding no one at all, or finding just a couple people and rofl-stomping them - all of those events are disappointing. Which is what your game is offering. That's likely 85% of the encounters you will experience with this type of design. You need to create more consistent experiences that people want to engage in. Fair battles that meet your expectation of the type of challenge you are looking for that reward you for your time and effort spent.
I am worried that though the game could be great, there are some large design flaws that will take the game and the ones mentioned above is feedback from playing these types of MMOs since the very inception to include Shadowbane that died on the vine because it had no control over griefers camping gates. Design flaws that were obvious to the community but, the game designers kept a blind eye to believing in their vision - that ultimately led to its demise.

DoomYa got a reaction from Duke_Suraknar in Druid impressions after having tried game again after hiatus
I don´t care much about roleplay, but druid in chain mail feels wrong. Druid with a shield feels wrong. The sickle should be the tool for the healer and generally I liked the druid better three years ago. But even then not as much as the Shaman in Warhammer Online.
All these outdated concepts and "decisions should be meaningful" stuff in Crowfall don´t fit well in 2020. See CF´s talent trees compared to GW2, Warframe or Diablo 3 where you can easily adapt to new situations, say
    - your tank/healer/dps/cc leaves the group
    - you´d like to play a different role
    - you want to PvP
    - you want to chop some trees
    - you play solo/small group/massive group
    - ...
In GW2, Warframe or Diablo this is switched in seconds. You have a completely new experience and it´s fun again. And if that´s not enough you can still switch to another class.
In CF we are nailed to the spec we chose for leveling or we can sacrifice stuff for more lvl 30 druids with different specs. But this doesn´t help when you join a group, they ask if you can heal and you can´t, because heal spec is not an option for playing solo as you did until then. Reminds me of WoW in 2005.
