My fear was not about a fire mage in a fantasy world don't be ridiculous. My fear is about getting the cliche dps fire mage instead a bit of innovation maybe?

Also about the hate towards people like me who don't like the real-life money influencing the game's economy. Think that I can buy a hat, sell it for gold, and buy a top sword with that gold. How did I earn the gold to buy that crafted masterpiece? I'll tell you, PAYING REAL LIFE MONEY (traded for ingame gold through a hat).

I'm gonna start doing inks to get some practice in. Why not open a thread for a chance at some character art for the community!

Anyways, the basic rules and guidelines so I don't get hammered with stuff and get overwhelmed.

only 1 character per user (for now) Must be within Crowfall's universe Must be Crowfall confirmed races so far. Please keep it polite :3 I am doing these for free so it may take some time to go through the thread since I do have commissions of my own to take care of.

    How to post:

Character Name: Race: Appearance: No references please!

Not true, remember that this game features campaigns and time MATTERS a lot, you're fighting against the clock not only for dominance but for the hunger... I can't see how cool can be that some people will trade real life money for a top sword (yes you can earn it ingame, but with irl money will be faster and you'll need to be fast in this game where we have dying worlds).

We had enough of greedy publishers ruining decent games with their dirty pricing models.

Is there a way out? Can't you just host servers in europe and pay someone to look after them?
I don't know about the business and all, but don't let us down, please.

innadril reacted to Torn in Trading Vip Membership To Other Players And Possible Associated Problems
Okay, so I generally have nothing against the B2P pricing model, aside from the fact that the devs might just run off with their inital profits, as there's nothing keeping the income coming after some time has passed.
So, I assume that is why they decided to add in the VIP membership. As a generally poor/cheap person, I probably wouldn't pay a monthly fee, especially if it's not required to play the game. I am usually an active player though, so I should like the fact that I can buy these VIP benefits from other players, no?
See, not exactly. In order for people to want to sell their 15$ or so tickets to other players, they want something of approx. equal value in return, not just any leftover junk you might have. Now, what could these things be? With very, very high likeliness, they'll be items that actually help people. Seeing the problem yet?
What I've seen games like Wildstar portray with a system like this is some utopic vision that benefits everyone. In reality though, and correct me if I'm wrong, it goes like this:
People A and B have a lot of RL money. People C, and D have a lot of time, and don't want to pay. C & D then buy cosmetics and other cool things from A & B. C & D are now happy, because they got all that swag, or whatever you kids call it these days. (And that's generally where games end their explaination, leaving you with a pretty good vision of the system, that people seem to like.) Actually, you know who else is happy? A and B, they now have stuff that they would otherwise have had to spend time on getting. Useful stuff, not that cosmetic garbage they already have tons of. So where's the problem, right guys? What's that E and F, and C and D too? Why are you not perfectly fine with this? A and B bought items with real money that are actually useful? The game is therefore P2W? Is that really so? And honestly, I'm not sure if it will be so or not. It all depends on the systems of the game. All I'm saying is that those people wouldn't sell 15$ tickets if they're not getting something useful in return, and that means buying usefulness, which might very well affect the balance.
I am very much awaiting for any flaws in my logic to be pointed out. I want this game to succeed, and I most definitely want to it to be the least P2W it can be. Please keep the comments civil.

I'm better now that only vouchers are tradeable, but "ore smelted into coins" seems to be currency.

That's sarcasm, right?  You can buy more character slots, or heck, even a second copy of the game since there's no subscription fee.

Wow.  Please tell me you folks are considering printing posed figures/statues of these archetypes down the road!  My shelf needs to change it up from the Shae Vizla and Kotubukiyas I've got up right now.

I have enough faith in my gaming skills ( even though I am getting old ) I can be competitive either way, either if I support the game by giving them some money for shop items or if I don't /shrug

My whole point is they picked a pretty fair pricing model that works well for the kind of game they are creating. I am just more open minded about it than some people.
There ya go, I been saying this for awhile, no currency ie money

In before the OMG vouchers will allow players to hoarde insane amounts of wood!!!!

On a serious note, I am glad you guys are choosing that direction. In the end vouchers will be bought with money than traded for in game resources most likely, however it will be a limited trading economy and should keep itself in check fairly well. There are only so many players in the game and each player only needing one voucher a month, however not all players will be trading for the vouchers because they will either already have it or don't need or want it. Will be a limited market for the most part and shouldn't throw anything out of whack here.

Now the cosmetics had the potential to throw things a lilttle off balance, but if done right I don't think it would of been that bad.

I don't think it should be cheaper but I totally agree on account bound things obtained via IRL money. That's exactly the point, you shouldn't be able to use your €/$ to affect your gameplay (inb4 the "it doesn't affect" statements, it DOES affect when you can trade your things obtained with real money for ingame goods or currency)

If someone plays more but doesn't pay more, I don't understand why I should call him "pay 2 win". "Play 2 win" maybe?

And I agree with you that, how it looks, every players will be able to get any available items in the game.

Someone else pointed out that there's a contraint of time in game, because the worlds are destructible after X days. So of course if someone earns 1,000 Gold way way before a large majority of players, I would consider this to be an advantage similar to "pay 2 win".
