Muffakin reacted to Lowlander in Talent tree reset
I searched the forums (but not thoroughly) for similar topics but havn’t found any.
I think it would be very tester friendly, and also usefull for new players when the game releases, to allow us to reset the talent tree for a fee (chaos embers/gold)
Each time you reset your tree would increase the cost. So after the second time or so it would cost so much that it would be better to create a new character (unless the vessel is epic or legendary) and so limiting the ammount of resets.
    example,
    first reset: 1k gold
second reset: 10k gold 10 chaos embers
third reset: 100k gold and 50 embers.
I think it would be even cooler to give the alchemy profession a potion that erases the memory. The alchemist profession would benefit and make it more of an immersive thing.
The talent tree is not so unforgiving and hard, but it would allow players to explore different builds a bit easyer.
I know patches that contain changes to classes and talents often include a talent reset. That might not happen as often when the game goes live though.

Muffakin got a reaction from Kaffe in Tweak Drop Rates
This is the ore I received from 3 Rune Picks worth of mining on r10 nodes with Plentiful Harvest at 5 pips. My concern is the drop rate of uncommon ore. I would expect that I would get more uncommon than rare ore. I wasn't out to get uncommon ore (else I would have gone elsewhere), but the drop curve doesn't really make sense to me.

    The collection average for this group is roughly 3 : 13 : 61 : 9 : 140 (legendary:epic:rare:etc...).
    I would expect something closer too: 3 : 10 : 30 : 70 : 110.

I'm not hard set that it needs to change, but in terms of quality curve it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The drop rate of the soul gems makes more sense. No Common or poor soul gems.

I started playing Crowfall about 3 campaigns ago. I've never seen Hunger Shards as anything but an obstruction, I thought this was the intention of Hunger Shards as I've never known anything else. During those first two campaigns, I only destroyed hunger shards so I could farm the frozen resources around it. I have almost always immediately destroyed the sacrifice shards they drop, because they are worthless. I 100% agree with you Ble(:

FYI, @Malphrus the reason you didn't get to see a siege, was there wasn't one.
Order is so bereft of players right now, they didn't have keep walls up, so Balance just waltzed right in, put up walls for them, and waited for the siege timer to start.
The other zones ended up so full, there was no way for a real fight to start.
A 25 second siege might be a new record never to be beat.
Also FYI, I was in the chaos group you followed.  People get a bit testy when they think they are being followed to report positions/numbers.

the game just keeps getting grindier and grindier, this is not the direction ACE should go at all for a PVP FOCUSED GAME, this isnt a pve focused game like eso where 95% of the game is dedicated to pve and the traditional grind, here 95% of the game is dedicated to pvp and forcing pvp players to grind like a second job with rng as bad as this is not the way to go

Muffakin reacted to Rikutatis in Seasoned characters vs New Players (FAQ discussion)
I highlighted certain parts of this FAQ for discussion. Just wondering if the above is still a design goal for the game or if it's just an outdated FAQ at this point. This is clearly not where we're at, or have been for a very long time (since big world I guess).
There are vessel levels now, with a pretty big power curve in them, which means anything below lvl 30 can hardly even compete properly (and you'll see lots of new players around below lvl 30). The grind for lvl 30 isn't extremely long (despite being super boring), but it's mostly vets who speedrun the process in the most efficient way. I get it that it's supposed to be some sort of tutorial to get you acquainted with your powers, but just throwing this out there. And I won't even mention vessel quality here.
This "flat" power curve for both skills and gear is pretty far from where the game is at, but it's specially true for gear. Basically instead of grinding to get to lvl 100 and own lower levels, you grind to have all purple+ and own everyone else. Jewelry atm is particularly disgusting in how much power it gives, but armor is also horrible. Mitigation and pen is a huge power gap. Honestly combat stats are far too complicated and bloated, whole system should be streamlined and toned down a lot.
I know the Shadowbane vets love their deep customization and builds, but I still hold firm to my belief that the game's combat started going downhill with discs. They addded very little in the way of interesting new mechanics and gameplay options, and just added more stat stacking, power creep, hard counters and cheese combos/builds. It's much easier to balance around a kit. I like promotion classes, I think the whole game could revolve around that and weapon selection and having plenty of powers to choose from within each class/weapon, instead of discs and so many gear stats.
Right now Crowfall isn't so much a territory control PVP game, but more like a farming simulator spreadsheet game with some pvp sprinkled in to close the loop. Kinda like EVE I guess, which isn't surprising given how ACE modeled their game after EVE, but still disappointing for those of us who bought in based on their original design pitch.
The only part of the game I feel is working perfectly well with the original pitch is the tactical/coordination side. Comms and good coordination/shot calling is one of the major deciding factors in fights atm, probably the most fun aspect of the game right now IMO.
Other than that it's mostly spread sheet combat, stacking stats and winning that fight cause you have the right disc/build not so much because you made the right plays. So yea, might want to rethink certain elements of the game if the question "HOW DO YOU PREVENT SEASONED CHARACTERS FROM SMASHING NEW PLAYERS?" is still something meaningful to the game's design.

Free City does have a huge amount of underutilized space and could be more efficiently organized for trade purposes.
And it should have a Gladiator Dueling Arena as an attraction!

This post is being written about 20 minutes into the new campaign. Every vendor spot on the top section is taken and a lot of the bottom sections of the are taken as well (in the Free City). It's hard to tell exactly who is setting up the vendors, but roughly 7 stores have the same setup, one rune tool in the middle priced at 9k gold. This to me looks like one player has taken all those spots, this is severely unfair for anybody who can't join the game immediately. I was only about 20 minutes late to the free city and I had to take a spot at the bottom.

Players should be limited to 1 vendor in the free city and 1 vendor in the temple (which only has 6 spots?). Limiting players would allow for people who can't join right away to also get a chance to sell.

The Free City and Temple need more vendor slots and a lot better organization. For a city built around trade, there is no rhyme or reason for the design, Aerynth Trades (a player EK) is much more enjoyable to shop at (despite the awful connectivity issues I have on EKs) because of how easy it is to go from shop to shop and see everything in such a short time. The free city is too spread out.

I play the game primarily for crafting and if I don't have a vendor it is extremely difficult to sell wares.

tldr; Limit vendors per person. Reorganize the Free City.

just make vendors like eso you have to bid on them. Highest bid wins the spot. That way the free market can pick the vendors and if you want them all you gotta pay the $$.

its smart, you can sell the vendor slots for big money, but id rather it be the bidding war like on ESO so we can see some merchant guilds emerge and dominate the market

This is the description for every EK at the moment.Foreshadowing for the next campaign? If so, I am excited! I know a lot of players are tired of how much of a powerhouse Balance is, this looks like a fresh way to mix up not only the game play, but the mood of each faction.
