  1. Most every game just has different humanoids. Having a Centaur alone is a HUGE improvement over just about any other MMO.
  2. I don't think it will happen as much as people think or wish it will. Being on the winning side is valuable in it's own right. What use is it to get paid to be on the losing side and unable to export anything?
  3. Well that's the thing, you can't claim your game is about player skill, then have huge power difference between characters. If you want people to have fun right away, feel useful, and make skill matter - then the power gap between characters needs to be relatively small.
  4. This is the interaction that should exist between Campaigns and the Eternal Kingdoms...
  5. Hah. I had same thing happen. I closed it out of frustration, but it only lowered to the system tray and kept downloading. Then I got to play it the next day!
  6. TERA has better combat, But the questing in Wildstar is far more tolerable and less grindy.
  7. I'm not completely sure how they can implement expansions in a reasonable way. With most MMO, an expansion has hundreds of new quests, new zones/lore to explore, but most important - new and more difficult PvE content to conquer. As Crowfall is not a traditional MMO, I'm almost afraid it would have the effect that new Expansion/DLC maps have on FPS games - it fractures the community. I think they may be better off sticking with a MOBA-style model, where the goal is to just to continually add content to keep people playing, which in turn will create a bigger pool of people that will purchase from the cash shop.
  8. Doesn't mean you'll have the 'best' gear. You ignore that you're competing against other players for the best gear. You also ignore that balance will likely change through patches, etc.
  9. How can you make this claim? How do you have any clue how 'fast' it's going to be to get your ideal disciplines and full armor?
  10. I think a more 'natural' anti-zerg mechanic would be to create an actual food/hunger mechanic that requires controlling spending and controlling resources, so keep a big army away from their home base would be much more difficult to sustain for long periods. My personal opinion is that there should be personal rewards tied to the Transfer Bank that are separate from what you can export from team earned accomplishments.
  11. I think there needs to just be one consistent and focused combat design. There's not room for multiple different systems without making it convoluted.
  12. I'm not sure how much knowledge of historical battles will help. I think the real strength is going to be in knowing and 'exploiting' the game mechanics (not cheating, just using the mechanics to your advantage as much as possible).
  13. Wasn't sure about pre-Alpha...so this is awesome to hear.
  14. Lots of things arent 'required' but still add to the experience. And what investment is there to add 3D support? As I've said, it's really just having UI elements render at the right depth. It's really not some monumental task. VR does however, require an overhaul in UI design. Have you done any 3D game with 3D Vision or anything?
  15. A gimmick is something they add for extra attention, but doesn't really elevate the experience. Really comes down to personal opinion I guess, but I think 3D (and VR) is perfect for MMOs because they're all about becoming immersed in another world. I think 3D and VR does that more than any other addition, which is exactly why its not merely a gimmick. Also, if you haven't used 3D at all, there really is quite a difference in the sense of depth. You can learn it well in regular gaming using cues like you've suggested, but you can 'feel' the difference instantly in 3D. I understand the gripes. The technology is imperfect now. But 3D/VR/AR is without a doubt going to be the future of gaming.
  16. 3D really isn't that much of a gimmick, because basically no game play has to be designed around it. It just simply works, because the game is already rendered in a 3D world. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I personally feel that 3D does add a lot to an immersive MMO experience. Quite simply, everything looks better in 3D (from trees and bushes, to armor and weapons). I also think that it will be greatly beneficial with action style game play where things like distance and dodging are very important. 3D allows you to better 'feel' the distance between two objects. Quite frankly, they don't need to innovate for a 3D experience. I'm not looking for them to try and reinvent the wheel and create a gimmicky experience that will blow my mind. All they need is intuitive 3D support, which really only means having the UI elements rendered at the right depth. Other than that, it just basically works, and it helps create a more engaging experience.
  17. I'm more familiar with Griefing being used in PvP as repeatedly killing/camping. When did it become solely calling people names? I thought that behavior was called 'being a unpleasant person'.
  18. There is going to be a fealty system within the Campaigns (separate from the EK Fealty System). I'd expect that to be where we see political strife and upheaval.
  19. Are you seriously comparing those? What is your definition of a griefer?
  20. I think one neat aspect of having Archetypes is that it allows them to be unique and sterotypical that you know what you're getting, even without the exact details.
  21. LOL No. I just don't agree with banning people for petty reasons. Using racist or homophobic slurs? Sure, ban those scumbags. But banning people for killing you in a PvP game? You've got to be kidding me.
