Yes, this seems to be a gender locked male. Not a big deal to me, Pre-Set Lore works for the best sometimes, people need to understand that.

This pretty much means that Import Rules = What you can take into a Campaign. Export Rules= What you can take out of a Campaign (resources, gear maybe, etc), Fealty System= Since you can get more in Export by Kneeling, most people would swear fealty to the "winner" to get the most resources, while others are going to be hardheaded and say "f you" and take the loss with honor.

Yes, the Stoneborn ARE all one gender.  (Male-ish, since they don't reproduce. technically, since they are made of stone and wood, they're more like golems.)

I'm not willing to bend on this one, because who they are and where they came from are critical to the game's narrative.  This particular chapter is a cornerstone of our backstory.

With the other archetypes, I'm pretty open in this regard.  If enough people are interested in female Centaurs -- sure, no problem!  It's not that I don't like the idea; it's just that we're trying to be realistic and spend our resources on the features/assets that will be the most popular.  We had to make educated guesses as to what fell on either side of that line.  If we made the wrong call, and you guys REALLY want a female Centaur Legionnaire (or whatever), we are totally cool with that.

But when the narrative relies on it, well, that's another matter.  I hope you understand, and will be willing to give me this one.

I love how they clearly stated this, so many games try to perfectly balance characters and classes that it becomes a never ending struggle. This is basically stating that you must create your character for what you will be participating in, because if you go into a different environment some characters will be better than you no matter what.

Since the quote reads "Stoneborn take no wives, sire no children," I would expect them the gender-locked into male because it reads wives over spouses or partners. Had it said something other than wives I would expect there to exist females other than the "Mother of All," but from this statement alone I'd put my money on a locked gender.

    2. Where do the resources come from?

Resources can be harvested from the environment, and sometimes found on certain monsters.  Materials come from particular types of POIs (Points of Interest) called resource factories: Quarries, Lumber Mills, and Mines.

From the FAQ, underline is my emphasis.

    01/27/15 - Introducing the Legionnaire & FAQ!

    Hey folks,
A few things coming for you this week.   Today, we're putting up our first Hero page: the Centaur Legionnaire.   This is our first cut at how we're going to present the base Archetypes on the website.  Yes, I know it's light on customization options -- that will come later.     More importantly, this page includes: a detailed concept of the character himself, our first in-game environment screenshot (!), and a narrative background for a "sample" character.  Obviously, you'll want to write you own character backgrounds, but 1st person narrative is a great way to give you a feeling for the flavor of culture and backstory.  (Yes, it's a Shadowbane trick.  Still a good one, though!)   Additionally, we're dropping the first section of our FAQ, which answers questions about: character creation (confirming things you've already guessed at, and clarifying a few you didn't know), a few bits about advancement, and more.   Later this week, we'll be dropping more info about the nature of the CF universe, i.e. "why did we unlock the characters from the worlds/shards?" and start to look at the elements that make the strategy game work.   As always, thanks for keeping an eye on us, and for helping us to spread the word!   See you on the forums,   Todd ACE

This is a very well written article from Eurogamer about Crowfall!  I hope you guys enjoy!

Interest gathers around new Shadowbane-like MMO Crowfall

    By Robert Purchese Published 23/01/2015

There's something interesting going down in massively-multiplayer land and it's a game called Crowfall.

Often in MMOs you're given content, you don't make your own - you fight where you're told over what you're told. But what if you were fighting to protect your land, or to take someone else's? What if you were playing your own game of thrones?

Some games flirt with the idea (Dark Age of Camelot Realm vs. Realm, Guild Wars 2 World vs. World) and some games romance the idea, the shining example being the unpoliced player-inhabited outer-doughnut of space in Eve Online. Think of the stories players create there.
Few MMOs, however, are fundamentally built around the territorial conquest idea, because it's unpredictable, uncontrollable. But Shadowbane tried - Shadowbane the ropey 2003 MMO built by Wolfpack Studios and published by Ubisoft (servers now closed).

Crowdfunded MMO Camelot Unchained will try, and now Crowfall will try.

"If you're here," the game's website states, "it's because you're looking for something." What are you, Morpheus from The Matrix?
"Something deeper than a virtual amusement park. More impactful than a virtual sandbox. More immersive. More real. A game where decisions matter.

"We are, too. We've been looking for years, and we still haven't found it... because it doesn't exist. Yet."
Crowfall has two big ideas: "dynamic territorial conquest and a player-driven economy". Star Wars Galaxies' crafting system is alluded to time and time again. "Marrying these two concepts is the holy grail of MMO development," commented Crowfall game director J. Todd Coleman. Name sound familiar? He was one of the key creators of Shadowbane.

Here details get thinner; a proper Crowfall announcement - there's a timer - won't happen for another 32 days (25th Feb). But yesterday developer ArtCraft announced the ongoing collaborative involvement of Raph Koster, a legend of ye olde MMO design - a pivotal part of the Ultima Online team, and regular luminary in the scene ever since.

Yesterday J. Todd Coleman also revealed a couple of key ideas for Crowfall, including a different take on how game servers work. In World of Warcraft and a lot of other MMOs, the playerbase is split across dozens of servers with X thousand capacity each. Each server-world is identical but the inhabitants aren't.

In Crowfall, however, the idea is still to have the playerbase spread across servers but for the worlds to be unique. "How unique? VERY unique," Coleman said. "In fact, the the maps are different from one world to the next. Mountains, forests, rivers, lakes. And these worlds are dynamic; they're made to change based on player actions."

Coleman also shared a prototype UI shot for the game's coherent but complex-looking crafting system.

    Lets play a game.

List the best MMO you have played and why.  So, here's the rules.

-You can only list ONE.  (I know that's tough, but just one)
-If the title has been mentioned you CAN NOT mention it again
-If a title has been mentioned but the "Why" is off, feel free you say why.
-If the title and/or the why are already listed "like" the post
-keep it short and sweet. No TL;DR's

    And...Start.
