  1. What capntastic said. This is a catch up feature that makes perfect sense in a decade old game, but not at all in one which hasn't even been released yet.
  2. Are you looking for a mechanical exclusion system e.g. "you cannot zone into this enemy-owned parcel" or something softer than that? I doubt we'll see a hard lockout mechanism. If you want to claim territory as yours it's up to you to muster the resources and project the power which will make that claim meaningful. Both in the real world and in other PVP sandbox games, people have successfully managed to interdict key resources and chokepoints without any force majeure aiding them.

    The new Crowbox

A 1080 will fit with lots of room to spare- this thing has lots of headroom. Airflow is also excellent. Moving the PSU and drives to a separate compartment means nothing in the way of the air across your Mobo and video card. Case comes with a front fan only, add exhaust fan(s) as needed. If you want to get really crazy, the case is built to be stackable so you could move e.g. water pumps and reservoir to a second case underneath the first.
  4. Yes, let's give organized guilds with external comm systems an even bigger advantage vs casuals and pugs.
  5. Dregs campaigns have the worst rewards unless you're on the winning team.
  6. The Secret World actually did a really good job with this.
  7. If you're on a low bandwidth connection, avoid torrenting large files or other heavy download activity while playing. Also, disable Windows 10 peer to peer updating. And, obviously, pick the server farm in the region you get the best ping to. Beyond that, there's not much you can do without massive network expertise, other than changing your ISP.

    The new Crowbox

There are larger versions- Core X5 supports full ATX, and Core X9 supports E-ATX. I'm finding I really like the cube form factor. I probably won't be building in a skinny tower again.

    The new Crowbox

I just upgraded to a GTX 1060 and had to rebuild in a new case - not because the card was too long, but because it was too wide. There wasn't enough headroom between the motherboard and the clear panel to support a card which was 5.5" wide instead of the standard 4.25" card width. I switched to the Thermaltake Core V21, which is another cube case but one which orients the motherboard horizontally, removing all of the headroom problems that the Air 240 has with wide video cards or tall CPU coolers.

  11. I can mine tin with a basic pickaxe and no harvesting skill. It takes a while but you do get some if you keep at it.
  12. OK - but in the same way that a Civ game or a bball season has progression, so too does a Crowfall campaign. "You cant look at progression in one dimension." Finding a stronghold, fighting off challengers while you amass the resources to repair it, keeping it secure while you start trying to accrue victory points and suppress others' efforts to do the same, building an alliance which can carry you to victory before the Hunger takes the world- that is the progression that matters in Crowfall.
  13. I think this the core of where we disagree. Bartle A's want to progress a character. Other player types have other motivations. FPSs have no progression. People play those lots. MOBAs have no progression. People play those lots. Civilization games. Madden games. Heck, RL basketball and other sports. People play those a fair bit. No progression- other than the skill gained by playing. Crowfall has a little bit of mechanical progression, but not nearly as much as Diku-inspired MMOs of the EQ/WoW lineage. And that's OK. Bartle A's mostly weren't going to buy Crowfall anyway; their market is already well served.

The fact that that server war is inevitable is the whole reason for the Dying Worlds campaign mechanic in Crowfall: there's no way to prevent that war from happening, and once it's over, it's time to reset and start fresh.

I'm sure that's exactly what BoB thought before the Goonswarm betrayal.

Either you haven't been playing Shadowbane or Eve or Darkfall or PFO or any other political sandbox, or you weren't engaging the political layer of those games, because that definitely happens.
  17. So when one player goes 100% into combat, another does hybrid crafting/gathering, and another decides to invest strongly in the Leadership tree, those differences are merely superficial?
  18. Account level customization is the skill training trees.

    Dregs ruleset

Why would they do that? The guild wins or loses the campaign as a team. Victory conditions for all campaign types are on a faction or guild scale; there are no individual-scale campaigns.

I think you underestimate the gaming community's love of politics and drama.
  21. A new player who's catassing 10 hours a day will, if he's competent, quickly acquire skills at button pushing which will more than outweigh the passive stat benefits accrued by idling an account for a year. The only reward that the game needs to provide to active players is a combat system which rewards actually being good at playing the game. If you don't actually play you will not push buttons well and will lose at combat no matter how old your account is. The problem of the inactive vet account is a non issue. Players who worry about the relative advantage of old casual accounts vs new full-time gamers are missing the point. The winner will be the one with better player skill. If you think you deserve to win just because your account has X00 hours played, or X000 hours activated, you're wrong either way. Push buttons well to win.
  22. No, I don't think we can. Obviously, the devs don't agree either. Eve has no active training system and has done ok up till now. Catching up hasn't proven to be an issue because once you achieve competence in one ship you can contribute and be effective even without all the versatility that a day 1 account would give. Why do you think that this model will not work for CF?

    Dregs ruleset

Yes. That's what it states. JTC later clarified that "Free-for-all PVP" means that nothing is stopping you from shooting your guildy in the back; it does not mean that there are no guilds nor that campaign win conditions will be individual scale.
