Oh Heck Yeah!

Recommended Posts

I'm embarrassed to admit that I can't even remember the server I was on.  Something with an I.  Intrepid?  Anyway, having been an Imperial mayor for one player city for a little bit, and also playing a bothan ranger/sniper, there are some fond memories behind me.  What are some of yours?

Tempest server - lots of great memories.  Rebel :P

The fall of Restuss - and then afterwards waiting for the Hand to show up for that lightsaber hilt while avoiding the imps.  One night there were several dozen on either side and for some reason we all started dancing while waiting for the Hand. Imp, rebel, all lined up facing the opposite faction and dancing.

I was in a RP guild and we created week long trials for the Jedi in our guild.  We'd create all sorts of buildings and members would RP interactions for the Jedi.  I remember I used my trader once in one of them - she was a huge white wookiee named Ifada and her role was to be escorted by the Jedi across a tough stretch of Yavin 4.  I did everything I could think of to be uncooperative - insulted him, wandered off, pulled mobs on us, sat down and refused to walk any more and wanted him to carry me, got drunk - and he stayed true to his Jedi nature regardless.  Fun times.

I remember creating my first Firespray (Boba Fett's ship).  Getting the pattern to create it was laborious and difficult and then getting the high quality mats and right crafting station was a labor of love.  I loved that ship.

Acting as gunner on a battleship.  Climbing up the ladder into the turret and mastering the targeting was a kick.

The first time I dashed through the Krayt Graveyard.

Jump to Lightspeed is what brought me back to the game.  I absolutely loved SWG's space game, for a long time I was doing mostly that with people.

Awesome story!

I remember playing at launch... no speeders.  Getting anyplace interesting like Jabba's or Obi Wan's hut took foreeeeever.

OMG ... and the wait times for the shuttles!  Remember at launch when you would JUST miss the shuttle to the starport?  Doh!  Then, of course, after you caught the next shuttle you would JUST miss the transport at the starport for your destination planet.  Ugh, it was a bit unbearable at first.  In hindsight, it may have had a beneficial side effect though ... often people chatted while waiting at shuttle bays and starports.  Whoa, social interaction in an MMO.  Personally, I haven't seen much of that in an MMO since SWG.

I think I met more friends in SWG waiting for shuttles or hanging out in cantinas getting wounds healed than anything else. It was annoying sometime when you were in a hurry, but you actually chatted with other people. I played on Lowca back in the day and had a little town outside of Doaba Guerfel. You got to know the other folks that lived in that area because you'd run into each other at the shuttle or starport.

I played from launch days until the end on Bloodfin. Great game, I absolutely loved the community and interaction and the crafting and economy was the best I have ever seen. JTL and the space system was great, a game within the game. I loved the amount of exploration and the fact that you could drop ANY item in your house, whether it was armor, weapon, loot, or even a quest item. So much social interaction in that game. NGE killed it though.

Waiting for shuttles were all part of SWGs charm.  I made so many deals and met so many friends hanging around waiting for shuttles, watching the Creature Handlers with their pets was fun too.

That was the beauty of it. I remember logging on countless time JUST so that I could talk to people, hang out in Cantinas and just have a good time. Not constant raiding or constant pvp. Just general tomfoolery.
