Crowfall Devs should take a look at SpatialOS

I just watched a video about SpatialOS and I immediately thought about Crowfall.

What is SpatialOS? SpatialOS is a distributed operating system that enables developers to build massive, detailed simulations across thousands of machines in the cloud... well that's what the website says at least (http://improbable.io/).

Bossa Studios (the company that brought you I am Bread and Surgeon Simulator) is currently using SpatialOS to create their new sandbox game called Words Adrift (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dH3MA20t30). The game is completely physics based and the same technology that went into that game could be used for Crowfall.

Crowfall is already being made with Unity 5 and it can be integrated with SpatialOS (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJFwaY30rvM&feature=youtu.be&t=9m28s).

And the company that made SpatialOS is currently looking for developers to use their technology... another clip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJFwaY30rvM&feature=youtu.be&t=17m30s

Idk what do you guys think?... If it ain't broken don't fix it?

Large-scale action combat and distributed computing are not a good mix.

SpatialOS was made to create detailed simulations. And this game is a throne war simulator after all... right? I think it's a good mix :P

Its not that simple, in game you want everything ready in matter of miliseconds, with such cloud-based service it adds alot of latency. Add that to players normal latency to servers, it could break things. Its hard to understand something from just peeking at its website for 5 munites but i think i can already tell that this thing wont benefit a game at all

It'll benefit certain kinds of games a lot - specifically, games which are based around exploration and not on 100v100 action combat. The computing problems of simulating a massive and detailed world environment are completely different from the computing problems of having 200 people on a single battlefield beating on each other with arcade-level control.
