  1. 1. What is your most favorite Archetype?

Recommended Posts

I'm tempted by a few archetypes based on the descriptions, assassin and ranger and then druid for myself, focusing on crafting, socialising, exploring and support in my usual play group.

What is a lot of fun is mentally assigning archetypes (based on their descriptions) to the group of friends I usually play with and haven't told about this game yet, that'll be later tonight :D   A legionaire - for world dominance; a duelist - just for the attitude in the description and the "pull it out of the bag" vibe I'm getting from him; a forgemaker - a smith who likes combat and big hammer jokes, a ranger - for one who doesn't mind doubling back to rescue me when I crash my vehicle or get incapacitated etc etc but who is also a mean fighter, and one I haven't figured out yet who's an achievement based pvp-er.  Hmmm.   :)

What I really like too, is that they aren't fluffy.  There are haters and fanatics and dictators...I like the wild hunt influences.  I like the non perfect hero options.

I think I'm going to like the druid a lot. Support heals and nuke sounds like my play style. Now I just have to decide whether to play an avatar thats more like myself and play a male druid or if I just wanna play the female so I have a cute lady druid to look at during my many hours of play.

I was all about the Legionnaire, and I still may return to him depending on just how character advancement/disciplines are handled, but right now he really feels like a healer and that does not appeal to me.  Therefore, Myrmidon is my new hope followed closely by the Forgemaster.  Basically, in more standard fantasy games where where dwarf/human/elf is offered, I always play the dwarf.  However, if monstrous characters are offered, they take precedence (in Shadowbane I had a Minotaur, Centaur and Dwarf).  In PvP, I gravitate toward DPS/healer hybrids (no, that is not what the Legio currently is) and tanks built toward damage.

EDIT:  Well, maybe Legio is more hybrid than I thought originally... its hard to tell... ugh!  There is still hope...

I like the look and feel of the Duelist, even though we haven't really seen much of them. I think they'd be a real asset to any kind of siege fight where a group needs an alternate route into a keep or fort.

I went with Frostweaver because, based on the lore and what bits of information I've scavenged, it looks the most interesting to me. Running so close behind that it may actually be even is the Stalker. I've not seen enough on this one to decide, but the stats, appearance, and vindictive nature (and references to traps) make it seem like it could be really interesting.

I'm an "explorer" and tend to play all the classes until I understand how the game itself works and how the classes work within that framework, then I go back and help the newbies/lowbies and generally play support (not necessarily "support" classes, more like helping people level, gear up, find their way, etc.) In Crowfall I'm very much looking forward to being the scout, crafter and EK monarch for my guild. "Dying worlds" mean many and recurring opportunities to explore, guide and support. Quite the change from pvp-focused games I'm used to!

A self-sufficient scout/guide/"ranger" type does appear to be appealing in CF.  Stalker is on my radar for this reason, too.

I really like the concept of Duelist, but I don't know whether I would like that Burrow ability. So I don't know if it is representative hero enough for a guild leader, thus I will consider forgemaster or any kind of meele DPS or even tank. I am not interested in the ranged classes at all.

Mercenary guild is recruiting. Send me a message if you are interested.

This is definitely a tough question to answer mainly because we have not actually seen all the archetypes in action. Concept art looks cool but without knowing the details for the remaining archetypes, other than buzz words like support, tank, etc... it is just hard to say.

With that being said, I have really had my eye on the stalker. I played a lot of Wow and usually found myself playing two different classes.

Paladin (Healadin) as my main that I used for all of the raiding, crafting, and 5 mans. I love support roles and usually gravitate towards healers in general.

Hunter as my alt, I loved playing hunter for solo play and for gathering. I would pvp a lot on my hunter and loved the feeling of being out in the world gathering with the sense of constant danger that pvp servers had to offer. I would win some and lose some but the dynamic was always exciting.

I know that in this game that I will most likely join a guild and may end up going my traditional support role but something about playing a stalker or ranger calls to my old hunter self. I also like the idea of specialization and disciplines. I might even be able to make a crazy hunter/healer build that could work well.

I just wish they would flesh out the stalker archetype so that we can see the differences between that and ranger. What makes the stalker the most appealing to me is that it is a non human archetype. Where else can you play a giant deer that hunts people?

Stalker-hype ! Stalking deer that will explore all the map to spot POI, enemy positions and set up ambushes for caravans ? Count me in !

A scout with :

- minimum viable combat abilities (not alone for skirmishes)

- strong scouting skills and survival skills (better warmth, reduced starvation)

- an exploration/sabotage-oriented discipline (explorer that can BURN enemy properties or cartographer)

- early crafting abilities (better traps ?) not too developed, but enough to thrive in his/its line of work.

I just hope there is a "hide" ability (I think there will be), and you will curse the day I get behind your lines x) !

I've not quite made up my mind on archetype yet as I'm still waiting to see what the finished products look like. But, just on appearance alone I'm leaning towards Stalker - because a deer that hunts people appeals to my sense of irony.

i have always gravitated to the melee healers, be they clerics or paladins. I also tend to spend a lot of my down time working on crafting. So, until we see how everything works, I'll probably play the Paladin more than other classes and see how deep I can delve into crafting during Alpha / Beta before I decide if I'll be a lead crafter for my guild.

My first pick is generally a Melee Stealth so an assassin but a melee healer seems pretty legit, specially in the current combat mechanic.
