This. We only move forward as fast as we can and stay as transparent as possible to what we we are working on. We have a pretty clear idea of where we want to end up and have no shortage of posts illu

Thanks, we are really putting in the extra effort including weekends to make the progress we are making. (At least we can do it from home with our families and kitties in this era of game development)

No. Absolutely not. NO.  To be able to actually fire an arrow with ANY degree of accuracy AND damaging power (let alone killing), archers were often stationary. The myth of Legolas is that: FICTION.

The charge time seems a bit long on bow attacks. Maybe lower the charge time and lower the damage. That's just my reaction from the video. I will test her out in the hunger dome and maybe my opinion changes.

EDIT: Can any of these attacks (even the standard attack) be released early to do less damage but fire arrows more quickly?

Stole my post basically.

Can we release the attack early? +1

Also, that AOE is gonna be painful with friendly fire.

I hope you'll not chicken out and make it deal less damage to allies or whatever... big AOE comes with big disadvantages. ;)

Yes please.  I'd much rather see teamwork that pushes or groups enemies combined with AoEs.  Make teams get their players out of the way before arrows rain down.  Or put up their shields like the 300...

Overall, an exciting archetype; probably not one I'll personally pick up, but some exciting mechanics I'd love to see shared among other archetypes.  I'm expecting a thrown hammer move from the Forgemaster that also ricochets :)

If the ranger is doing that much damage, I hate to see what the stalker does. Or is the ranger no longer classified as a specialist?

Yep.  We will see a bunch of rangers on a team focus firing people to death very soon.  I'm not arguing that is a bad thing, but they better be squishy as hell if melee is not doing at least 2x their damage per hit.

Might be the case that the Stalker will in fact do more damage but have a slower pace and/or be more squishy as they won't (hopefully) have a melee mode like the Ranger does.

The slow rate of fire, high damage attacks look sweet.  I am already liking the Ranger more than the Confessor.  Although that is pretty easy to do considering the crazy amount of damage Confessors deal at melee range compared to the pitiful strikes of my delusional centaur Legionnaire.  I'll eventually get used to squishy mages countering melee cavalry in melee range.

Exciting new addition to the roster, dizzy effect also looks tripping (Good connotation).

I have reservations about what I saw in that video and I 'm glad it's the rangers first iteration. Blair you do realize that you got 1 left click basic attack off while the mob was under suppression before the simple AI tagged you back with a ranged shot.

Standing still trading shots at range sounds Queensberry rules to me, I hope to see more mobility in testing.

Ya know not every shot has to be planned and thought out, sometimes there is this thing called opportunity, if you have the tools fast enough to take advantage of what presents itself.

Did you even give the ranger one instant shot.

is this already a preview of how combat will be in the next iteration?

Absolutely.  I fully expect things to go pretty poorly because adding a truly ranged DPS class completely changes the battlefield; melee classes will need to be overpowered in their own way to counter the Ranger's power.

Man that Ranged AoE is going to destroy people early in testing, given how the battlefield currently tends to configure itself.

Potentially. But Barrage only hits a max of 5 players in the circle.

If anything big happened at the beginning of this year, it has gotta be this video! Thanks ACE!

Unsurprisingly, it reminds me of Longbows in Albion Online. They had a skill that rain down arrows in a huge area and I like how they need teammates to cover and cc enemy in order to do that and seeing ACE implementing even more into it makes me happy.
